The first time I went to Tommy's (1994), I just walked in - no appt., with my dog, Helen. The lady there asked if I could come back in an hour. When I got my dog back, she looked great, but I realized that leaving her someplace she had never been was not a good idea. After that, Helen hid in the bathtub a lot, which I took to mean she at least enjoyed the big bathtub at Tommy's! I went back to bathing her at home, but then took her to Tommy's for haircuts only. The groomer was so understanding! She would stop what she was doing and take Helen AND me to the grooming table. I would sit beside her while she worked on Helen, and just knowing I was not leaving without her, Helen was a real lady. I did this for several years every time Helen needed a cut, until sadly Helen passed away in 2004. We moved out of the area in 2006. I now have a 3-year old puppy that is quite hyper and happy about going any place. She has never been professionally groomed because of the separation issue, but I plan to make the drive and take her to Tommy's. The groomer there is a very caring person, very kind to the doggies, and righteously so, recognizes any human who isn't!! She is also the one who when asked, recommended to me the best Vet in the world, just down the street. I instinctively trusted her and took Helen to this Vet who took care of her until she died. I am so glad that I just happened to walk into her shop that day.
