Not what it use to be 2/26/2012

Been going here since it first opened. Over the past two years the quality of the food has diminished considerably. Tonight ordered 2 jumbo shrimp, baked potato, and apple sauce platters to go. The shrimp were over cooked, the potato under cooked. For this I paid over $19+. Over the years when you voice a complaint the owners act like you don't know what you're talking about. Now a days with places like Applebees, Chili's etc you can get better food and they almost always have the 2 for $20 deals going on which is about what you'll pay at Tom Jones. It's unfortunate but I cannot recommend Tom Jones any more. more

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE 10/14/2011

As a long time resident of Brookhaven I have been there many times over the years. Still a decent place to eat but not what it used to be. In the past the food was good considering the price you paid for it (low). However like so many other places these days the food just doesn't seem to be as good as it used to. Although the prices are still reasonable Tom Jones is not the great combination of low prices and decent food that it used to be. Maybe it's just a sign of the times and although I still eat there and would recommend it I must admit that I think it's best days are in the past - kind of like me! more

Always enjoyed eating here......................... 10/10/2008

The negative reviews are baffling to me, having eaten at Tom Jones all my life. I don't presently live in the 'burbs, but we still drive out to Tom Jones once a month or so for dinner. The dinner food is great, huge portions, and the baked potato is so big it's a meal in itself, and not only not rubbery, it's delicious. It is great diner food, any time of day or night. To me the ONLY con is the smoking thing - nothing substantial separates the nonsmoking from smoking areas, smoke can be smelled. The only way restaurants can have a REAL nonsmoking area is if they separate the areas into different rooms entirely AND have separate exhaust systems. I've found that recently we've not been bothered as much with the smoke and that's probably a sign of the times, with smokers going outside to do the dirty deed. This place, considering the busyness of it, actually is tops in service and cleanliness. The negative reviews sound like they're not even talking about this restaurant, but someplace else! more

Diner at its best 6/9/2008

I grew up in Brookhaven and have been going to Tom Jones my entire life. I love it. The food is not the highest quality, but the atmosphere is fun and there is always someone there that I know. Get the Blue Plate Special if you go. Pros: Great price. 24 hrs Cons: They will charge you just to sit there after 9pm, so it's better to order something. more

Stick with the diner food. 4/12/2008

If you are going for a neighborhood diner experience with diner - not dinner food, this place is just fine. But under no circumstances order the dinner food. This means things like steak, crab cakes (they are the worst), fish, etc. Why? Its just terrible quality. the baked potatoes were rubbery and they give you margerine for them, the mashed potatoes are instant, the crab cakes were ""creamy"" and the texture was nauseating, the fried fish was just frozen buy-it-in-the-supermarket kind of fish. The salads were brown, the ketchup containers, dirty. There is just no reason to subject yourself to this. but if you want breakfast food or a sandwich, I guess it would be alright. Pros: Diner experience Cons: Dinner experience, food quality, dirty more

This was a waste of time and money 3/12/2008

I think dinners have better food and friendlier atmospheres than most of the franchised three and four star restaurants. This place was something else, I don't know what but it wasn't good. I grew up in northeast Philly, and was in Chichester with some of my high school friends. We asked a kid working at the Walmart there if he knew of any really good dinners. So we drove to Tom Jones, thinking that if its named after the singer its gotta be great. So wrong. I walked in and I was amazed at how little space there was for the non-smokers and at the fact that the smoke drifted over to the other side regardless of the intake fans. I more

Worst Experience Ever!!!! 8/31/2007

I visted Tom Jones In BrookHaven. Let me tell you. The service was lousy! They charge you a fee of 2.99 if your sitting with family or friends if you dont eat anything. My family ordered food. I had already had dinner. I just came along with them to visit and enjoy time with them. They ordered and when I told the waitress I really did not want anything she said well you have to pay 2.99. I was floored. \r \r The waitress spilled the coffee when she poored it. She never came back to the table. There was a pubic hair on my napkin. I was so grossed out. \r \r I will never go there again!!\r \r EWWWWWWWWWW!!!! \r \r Oh yea and I overheard the manager talking mean to a customer. She treated them very disrepectfully. So my review for this restaurant is not a good one. \r \r Sorry to say I will never go back there. Pros: There are no pros. Cons: Fee charged if you with your family just to be with them and what if you have children who are not hungry. You have to pay a fee!! more

Good Food Great Price! 11/9/2006

A great local diner. Nothing in the way of atmosphere, but they have good quick service, inexpensive prices (especially on the breakfast special), and decent food. more

Great dining 7/22/2005

Tom Jones has the best Crab Imperial and Crab cakes in the area. They also have a great breakfast that is available 24 hours a day. It includes 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, bacon, sausage, toast, coffee or tea, juice and it only costs $2.79. more

Big Fan Of Tom Jones 5/15/2004

This is an Excellent Family Restaurant. My family eats here all the time. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. They are open 24 hours a day, so it's great for those late night food cravings ! more
