Tokyo Star

My husband and I just moved to the area and were craving some Japanese food. So we began browsing the internet looking for something close and convenient. Tokyo Star was the closest, but I was a little worried by all of the negative reviews. My aunt said she went there before, and that it was good, so we decided to give it a shot, and i'm sure glad we did. The restaurant is beautiful. It's calm and relaxing. When looking at the menu I noticed they didn't have any Chicken Katsu (that's our favorite) and she let us order it anyways. I ended up ordering the Chicken Katsu with tempora, and it came with rice, salad and miso soup. Everything was perfect! By far, the best Katsu I ever had.. (i even make my own at home and there's ten times better!) The second time we went, my husband and I decided to just share the Katsu dinner and then order an extra soup and salad. We also ordered a California Roll to share. Our check was $21.00 and we even had left overs. The portions are huge.. and I don't know what people are saying about the service? I've had the same woman the past two times and she is the sweetest thing. She even brought extra Katsu sauce with our to go boxes without us even asking. and at the end of the meal, they give you a cute little dessert. I love Tokyo star and my husband and I will continue to come here! Pros: Great food, friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere. Cons: none. more

Tokyo Star is a favorite for our family--but the quality has declined in the past year. The service is poor. They deliver all of the food at once: drinks, soup, appetizer, entree. Even though we are regulars, we are greeted by a cold, if not rude wait staff. My favorite, the tempura, is quite soggy when it arrives. The tempura used to arrive in a bamboo holder, and now comes on a cold plate with a papertowel on the bottom. Cloth napkins are replaced by paper. I'm not sure what is going on here, but we won't be regulars if this continues. Dinner is usually $60 for our family of four--w/o drinks. After 3 visits to this restaurant (only because it nearby my office) I am blown away with how blatantly rude the staff is at this restaurant. The third visit was by far the worst. My food came out about 15 minutes ahead of my co-workers and when I mentioned it to the server, he just walked off in annoyance. I think I was the one who warranted being annoyed. After the meal, he dropped the check off and never returned. After about 15 minutes, I had to go to the register to pay the bill so that I could get back to work. They have no regard for customer satisfaction which is a little surprising given the food is not great and the prices are way too high for what you get. I settled for mediocre service/food for convenience but it is not worth it to patronize this restaurant. I won't be back. Pros: parking Cons: extremely rude staff, high prices, mediocre food more

Their sushi did not WOW me over. I was greated by a cold hostess and the waitress was just as cold. To be fair I ate during their rush hour. Still a friendly attitude does go a long way. Pros: easy parking Cons: rude staff, price a bit high more
