Great location 3/17/2006

While the food is less than impressive at times, the location of this restaurant is wonderful. Be sure to take some time to walk around the old mansion, it is very interesting. I've not had good luck with dinners there, however I do love their weekend brunches. They have omlettes and waffles made to order as well as a variety of other treats. more

come for the wines. the steaks are quite good. sunday brunch is a great place to take the family. more

Elegant Dining 9/18/2005

This place is probably south bend/mishwaka's most elegant dining establishment. They are the winners of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Award of Excellence. They aren't open for breakfast, but they are open for lunch and dinner monday through saturday .. On sunday's they are open for "Brunch" .. this is a great place to go for a special occasion, or just to treat yourself or someone else. They have excellent food and a beautiful atmosphere. more

Overrated 8/19/2005

I agree that the atmosphere is great. The mansion is beautiful. However, I have found dinners there to be overpriced and not quality. I do recommend going to brunch there, as they have an excellent variety of choices. Make reservations early, and be prepared to fight huge crowds on Mother's Day, Notre Dame home game weekends, etc. Save yourself the hassle when it comes to dinner and go elsewhere. more

Elegant dining in South Bend 8/18/2005

This has to be the most elegant restaurant in the South Bend area. The location is the old Studebaker mansion (yes, as in the carmaker), and it is just blocks from the heart of downtown South Bend. It is rarely crowded during the week, and the food and service are superb. This is the ideal spot for an impressive romantic dinner. Therefore, dress accordingly. I suggest a jacket or at least a tie. more
