it's a wonderful location over looking waikiki beach. the cool trade winds keep the ambiance in a paradise level without the buzzing of cars below. the local bands and a mixture of visitors and locals keep this place real. more

This place is WAYYYYY overrated 12/14/2006

The view is great, but that's about it. The service is mediocre, as is the food. Do NOT get any of the salads, they all suck. I made that mistake once and then forgot to warn my husband the next time we went back and he ordered one while I was in the restroom. Of course, he regretted it. They do have a good chocolate oozing cake dessert, though. But it's all definitely overpriced. Go elsewhere. more

Tiki's Bar and Grill is sooo Hawaiian and has good food. 11/11/2006

The zoo staff recommended Tiki's Bar and Grill to us as the best place to eat nearby. So we tried it. We were thankfully given shady porch seats with a good breeze coming off the ocean enhanced by an overhead fan and lots of water. Service by a new waitress was somewhat slow and only occurred because management was making sure. Our food -- we both ordered shish kabobs was tasty and good, but mine had to be sent back three times in order to get it cooked well done. My advice, order a different entree if you like well done beef. The salad was sized for two, tasty and fresh and with lots of much appreciated fruit. A nice place to eat and a welcome rest after the zoo. more

Good, but not perfect--beware the salads! 5/17/2006

I've been here twice now, mostly b/c my friends rave about this place. The first time, I made the mistake of ordering a salad. It was a weird salad. I can't remember what was in it, but it sounded good but then the different ingredients in it just didn't mesh well. I think it was something like an Oriental Chicken salad, but they put olives in it, which just tasted strange. Then, it was WAY overpriced, especially since I didn't eat hardly any of it. The second time, I went and had the quesadillas which were really really good. But I forgot to warn my husband about my experience last time, so he did the same thing and ordered a different salad and said he didn't understand why everybody said Tiki's was so good. Whoops. And again, the big zinger was the bill. You can find much more consistently good food in this town for the same price or less. more

Yummy! 5/11/2006

Have you been to Tiki's yet? Well, if you haven't read my latest on the Aston hotel, then read that, then come back to this one. Tiki's is the restaurant in the Aston Hotel. And all I can say is: YUMMY! Prices are decent and they are great for the whole family. I recently went there w/ my kids and they get a Frisbee w/ their meal! They first eat on it, then the servers clean it up and it's all yours! Kids love that kind of stuff! Now for us adults who love tasty meals...mmmmmm, Tiki's has it. Such friendly service and great staff. If you are downtown...get on over there. Even for a Saturday night, I had no problem getting seated right away for 7 o'clock reservations! more

Great Ambience& Food , But a bit pricey! 10/10/2005

Tiki's Grill & Bar, a casual open-air restaurant, is located at Waikiki next to Waikiki Zoo. There are plenty of outdoor chairs and tables with umbrellas for shade. The bar area is located outside near the hotel swimming pool. I think they have live Jawaiian music every evening. The decor sets up as the retro-tiki South Pacific mode with Tiki statues, masks and war clubs are scattered throughout. Their food are excellent! I love thier Coconut Shrimp ($9.95) and cheeseburger can be ordered with pineapple and teriyaki glaze ($7.95-$8.95). If you want to try local food, i would recommend you a poke sampler with ahi, tako, and the poke of the day ($8.95) and Aloha Friday Hawaiian plate ($15.95). it's comprised of Kalua pig, lau lau, lomi lomi salmon, ahi poke, mashed sweet potatoes and haupia. For the drink, i would recommend you to try Tiki's Lava Flow.... very good!!! Trust me ... you will love it. Overall, The service and food are excellent. The hostesses, bartender, and waiters at Tiki's are friendly and helpful. However, some menus is a bit pricey, but worth it to pay! Enjoy! more

GREAT sunset dinner 7/2/2005

This was a birthday dinner for me. We were smart enough to call and reserve a table outside at sunset. Amazing! You watch the torch lighting and the sun set over Waikiki. The food was really great too. The kids meals were served on a frisbee that they take home. All around perfect. more
