A Mouth Pleasing Delight!! 3/13/2009

I'd wanted to try this place for years and finally went in for a birthday dinner with my wife. It was really a wonderful experience! I can be very picky about my Italian cuisine but I must say my palate was constantly stimulated by the food here. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and the waiter even guided me to a less expensive bottle of wine than the one I'd ordered as he felt I'd be happier with it. (I was!) The best word I can think of to describe Ti Amo is "" Unique "" ! A terrific blend of food, service an atmosphere. I just wish we hadn't waited so ling to go in!! Pros: Incredible food, service and atmosphere!! more

An Incredible Find!!! 3/5/2009

I was going on a first date with a girl I really liked and heard this was the perfect restaurant. It could not have been better! Everyone there was so friendly. The hostesses were nice enough to seat us in a romantic corner when they heard it was a special night. Our waiter (Joe) was very knowlegable and helpful in our wine and dinner selection and the food was OUTSTANDING. We both felt as though we were being spoiled by the very attentive staff. We stayed much longer than we had intended but we were having such a good time that we just didn't want to leave. Very Highly Recommended!! AAAA++++ Pros: All that they do! Cons: None! more

Even though it is top quality, the prices are quite reasonable. 12/30/2008

This is one of those fun neighborhoody type Italian restaurants that is particularly nice for both small and large parties. Even though it is top quality, the prices are quite reasonable. more

Overpriced, Average food, Poor Service 9/22/2008

I took my date and a couple friends to dinner last Friday (9/19/08) around 9:30pm. My date and I ordered the recommended house specials; Sea Bass & Ribeye, both of which were average at best. My date commented to the waiter that the meat was ""fatty"", he just smiled and apologized. I've had better fish & steak dishes at restaurant chains for half the cost. Definitely not worth the $30 & $45 I paid for them. We ordered a bottle of Syrah; my date/ friends were not impressed with the flavor (I'm not a wine drinker). They told me that the bottle of Syrah I'd brought over earlier ($15 @ BevMo) was much better; my date and friends enjoyed a glass of wine before going to dinner. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service, Food, Value more

Amazing food and experience!! 5/14/2008

This restaurant was absolutely fantastic in every aspect. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and though we were an hour early for our reservation, we were seated promptly. The manager then came and greeted us at our table instantly. He was extremely personable and friendly. We were then greeted by our server not too long after that and descriptively told us about the specials for the day. Before our food came, we were served their famous bread which I'd have to admit was spectacular! I know it's just bread but it was honestly the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant. I had the crab stuffed ravioli and my boyfriend had the linguine with pesto. The ravioli was amazing and the pesto linguine was average. This loved this entire experience. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was great and flexible (both romantic and casual). The entire staff down to the bus boy was extremely courteous, professional, and friendly. Excellent restaurant in its entirety, I highly recommend it!!! Pros: Atmosphere, service, parking, food, pretty much everything! more

Family Celebration 4/25/2008

Friendly staff. Location is less than ideal for romantic dining. Very small restaurant. Menu OK with average prices. more

A romantic, cozy restaurant 3/11/2007

My husband and I went to Ti Amo to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We sat out on the balcony area, which was so romantic and secluded. We got to look out and see the wonderful surroundings. The ambience was so romantic and pleasant. And, the service is wonderful. We were never low on wine, bread, anything. Scott took such great care of us, and his recommendations were right on! My husband had the chilean sea bass cooked on a cedar plank with julienne vegetables. The combination was so exquisite. You could taste the smoked flavor from the cedar plank but not too overpowering to take away from the flavor of the sea bass or the vegetables. And, I had the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes surrounded my a portobello mushroom sauce, which was so amazing. The Manager, Scott, even came out to make sure we were doing well and to wish us a happy anniversary. They then brought us a little dessert to help celebrate the occasion. Pros: food, wine, service, ambience Cons: a little crowded more

So small and cold... 12/11/2006

I was underimpressed by TiAmo. First, we had difficulty navigating to our table due to the cramped tables and chairs. Our small dinner party was unable to have a conversation because the other guests were so loud, and the tables were so very close together. I was struck by someone's chair while trying to walk to the restroom. To top it off, a patron must enter a small hall that connects to the kitchen, while you wait for your turn in the single man/woman restroom, there is literally nowhere to stand that you aren't getting stepped on and bumped by multiple peole going in and out of the kitchen. The floors are very uneven, sloped and slippery. Other tables had lighted candles while we sat by the front section which was drafty and cold. No candles, very little ambiance. All in all, a disappointment. Pros: lovely menu items, food was exceptional. Cons: Almost everything else. Poor layout, restroom close to kitchen, floors uneven. more

Ask for Joseph when making your reservation... 12/10/2006

My name IS in fact Joseph Giraudo I am an executive server at Ti Amo. I personally would like to invite you to spend an evening with us that will create life long memories. All of our servers at Ti Amo have had at least 5 years experience in fine dinning ensuring superb service. I personally have been in the restaurant industry for nearly 10 years now working with noteworthy restaurants such as the four star Joseph's Citarella in Rockerfeller Center in wonderful Manhattan, NY. I am also credited with 2 years as acting sommelier at 4 star Restaurant in Hamilton, NJ. With extensive knowledge of our wines listed (and some that are not) and secrets from the kitchen I can guarantee a more personalized experience for you and your guest(s)... and hey I might even through in a ""freebie"" here and there. Please come join us soon. And don't forget to ask for Joseph as your server... SEE YOU THEN!!!! more

bad service, food used to be good now it's ok 12/2/2006

I have been going to this place for 15 years. This used to be my favorite place, not anymore. This restrurant used to be very good. The service is poor. The bus boys bring your dinner and ask where to place it. The food isen't bad you can get a good dish possibly. Pros: Olive spead is great. Cons: bad service more

A Hidden Gem of Pure Delight !!! 10/29/2006

It was my first date with a girl I'd been attracted to for a long time. I was anxious to take her someplace that would impress her and accentuate the romantic aspect of the evening. Friends had raved about Ti Amo and so I made reservations and told them it was a very special night. From the time we stepped from our car we were treated to the best dining experience we've ever had. The hostess and manager both greeted us warmly at the door and the manager showed us to a beautiful candlelit table that was both quiet and very romantic. Our waiter was friendly and extremely well versed in the food and wine that was offered. His service was excellent. We were hooked from the first bite of our bloody mary cocktail covered with a mouth watering red sauce. Our entrees were not only served with a beautiful presentation but were so good that we ordered a third one to go. The banana bread pudding was to die for and the manager very kindly brought us two complimentary drinks at the end of our meal to celebrate our first date.. Add to this the fact that everyone there seemed truly intent on making our night as special as possible. It has since become our favorite place to eat! Thanks Ti Amo, for doing what you do so incredibly well. You're a gem!!! Pros: Everything about it!! Cons: It's not open 24 hours a day!! more

Will make an Italian lover out of anyone! 10/23/2006

I've never been a huge fan of Italian cuisine (and yes, I know that there are many facets to regional Italian cuisine, but I must admit I've never been particularly fond of any of it). This place single-handedly changed my mind. Pros: Great food, romantic ambiance, wonderful service and good wine list Cons: It was a little bit warm in the restaurant (it was summer when we visited). Poor ventilation. more

Best food and service we ever had 6/2/2006

My wife and I tried Ti Amo for the first time. We were seated within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday night. The ambiance is great. Reminded us of Italy. We had the best waiter and food that night. We plan on returning with friends. Reservations are a must. Also, the Valet parking was wonderful!!! Usually you can't find a place to park in Laguna Beach. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service more

nice place to go 3/7/2006

My husband and I went to Ti Amo for Thanksgiving. For ambiance, the place was awesome. Low lit and romantic, with a nice looking interior and exterior. Was empty for a rainy, Thanksgiving night, but we liked having the place to ourselves. The food was served a little slow, but was worth the wait. The only downside is the lack of parking, but they have valet all the time if you don't mind paying. Pros: wonderful food, nice decor, romantic Cons: parking more

Not all what it was cracked up to be 2/9/2006

At time of reserv. request was for special setting, for 15 yr annniversary for two .. arrived 20 min early seated promptly but no special seating. Other tables with lit candles none on ours - not even a mention of a happy anniversary. Poor customer service. This is on Thurs nite. Prompt water, drinks etc but then ordered a special grilled lobster. Major delay. other tables around us seated, ordered and almost finished by time we rec'd lobster. Veal Scalop.. was too thin and overcooked - just felt like eating mushrooms. Soup had been ordered but there were a # of complaints so they threw it out told us no soup - no offer of something else to replace etc. Service was below average for reputation. Would not recommend and would not eat there again. Pros: General Atmosphere, Parking Cons: Overpriced, Service, Ambiance more

A special place for 2 1/20/2006

I can see this testaurant from my balcony, but it took me a year to try it. The atmosphere is dim and romantic. We had a booth that was very privite and it felt like we were alone in the otherwise full restaurant. The waiter could not have been any better. This is a place where you can stay awhile, relax, and be catered to. The food was to my liking but my date was not as pleased for some reason. I had the Oso Bucco and LOVED it. For an apetiser, by date had the seafood martini which was filled with lots of cold seafood and a tangy bloody Mary sauce. A good experience. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: no bar more

Pleasantly Surprised! 1/16/2006

Living in South OC, we've driven by the South Laguna Ti Amo for years. We finally gave it a try upon recommendation of family and friends. The hostess couldn't have been nicer; we went on a Friday night without reservations and were readily accommodated. The atmosphere was original, table candlelabras made the mood warm and romantic. I ordered the lamb special. I received a beautifully presented and delicious- 1 broiled lamb chop, 1 lamb tenderoin in puffed pastry; 1 braised lamb shank. For a lamb lover who seldom orders or cooks lamb, I was in heaven. Pros: great location, romantic more

Amazing! 1/9/2006

Amazing pretty much describes my whole experience dinning at Ti Amo. My girlfriend and I love fine dinning, and our night couldn't have been more enjoyable!! If your looking for a romantic restaurant to take your date, Ti amo is a great choice. The food was amazing (I recommend the pork chops or the ravioli filled with short ribs), and the service was top notch. The pork chops are a special and they are marinated for 24 hours in milk and brown sugar....they were the best pork chops I've ever tasted! Our waiter never rushed us, but was very attentive at the same time. I can't wait to go back! Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

not so laguna beach 11/24/2005

Never in my life have I ever been treated so unkindly. How mature is it when the hostess and their entourage give you dirty looks?? Thats so high school drama. Well I went there to celebrate for my 18th birthday with my friends; I reserved a table for 10 seats, but only 7 people showed up. And the people working there became rude when I told them this news. They opened at 5:30 pm on Friday, and our reservations were for 5:30....so I don't understand why they were so rude to us; it wasnt like there was a line to get in. That place is so overrated. We dressed nicely, so obviously we had money. The food was okay, but if you want quality service and excellent food go to Olive Garden. Pros: the waiter we had Cons: service, obnoxious workers, rude to teenagers more
