Neat to visit! 9/30/2005

This is the Place Heritage Park is a neat place to visit with your family. There is a monument that marks the spot where the Mormon Pioneers first entered Salt Lake, and the view is beautiful. You can also visit the Young Farm. There is also a pioneer village complete with a horse-drawn trolley and employees in costumes from the period. There is also a Mormon Handicraft store on the premises with all sorts of unique, handmade craft items. The prices are reasonable, and you can also just get ideas for things to make on your own. Visiting the park and the store are free. There is an admission to visit the pioneer village, and it can be pricey if you are tkaing your family. It is neat to see, but I'd probably skip it - you can see plenty of similar things for free in Utah! more

Fun Pioneer Experience 8/19/2005

This is the Place Heritage Park has two parts. The first is the free This is the Place monument -- a big statue covered obelisk. The other is the Deseret Village -- a recreation (with many original period buildings relocated) of a village around the time of statehood in Utah. There are wagon rides, people in costume, etc. Some of the buildings have guides that explain the history and significance of the building. It is quite a bit of walking in the sun (very little shade), so be prepared for that. Admission to the village is not free, but it is interesting. more

Great place to visit! 8/19/2005

This is the Place Heritage Monument Park is a nice park that celebrates the Mormon pioneers settling in Utah in 1847. There are tours and missionaries that tell the stories of the early Mormons that came to Utah. There are some small shops that teach you a little about life in the old west. This was a great day with our family. more

This is the place! 8/17/2005

This Is The Place Monument is where the Mormon Pioneers first entered the Salt Lake Valley. It captures the feeling of what a pioneer town felt like back in the day. There's even a town built there with historic buildings and authenticated buildings from that era so you feel like you were actually there. You can host your next pioneer family reunion there! more

Great Utah Heritage 8/17/2005

This is the place Heritage monument is really a great place to get to know what Utah is all about. I had never thought about going until my in-laws came up and the monuments are incredible. The stories that are there are very interesting and it pays tribute not only to the Mormon settlers but also the fur trappers and Spaniards that made their way through Utah. I highly recommend this monument to all those history buffs out there. more
