Poor choice in where to eat/where to buy books 12/10/2009

It's hard to understand why anyone would support 3rd Place Books. There are some lovely, delightful places in Seattle, book stores and places to eat; this is not one of them. The food is mediocre but, worse, the people who work there are often poorly chosen. Rude. Inconvenienced by customers. Go elsewhere. more

Third Place Pub 6/27/2006

Thanks everyone! I visited last night with friends and we had a great time. The pub serves a good selections of wine and beer, but no liquor. The hefeweizen on tap was very good, and others enjoyed their wine selections. We sampled the sandwiches, chicken pot pie, and nachos. The nachos were pretty typical, but tasty. The salsa on them seemed really freshly made, but the cheese on them was kind of standard and oily. Their sandwiches are excellent (of course, because they're from the Honey Bear Bakery upstairs) and the chicken pot pie was really amazing. The decor inside is really interesting. Its very cozy and everything is rough wood, giant peices of raw wood. Quite beautiful and smells nice too. This is a great place to go relax and read, have a conversation, hang out with friends and doodle on coasters or just talk about books. There's a bookstore with espresso conveniently located upstairs in case you run out of things to discuss in the pub. I would highly recommend it as a low key hangout for good beer and simple, but well prepared food. The air conditioning was a nice bonus since it's been in the 90's. more

Third Place Books 5/23/2006

There is a great black and white one at the Third Place Books/Honey Bear Bakery in the North North End. I took my daughter there every few months for two years and had our photos taken together. I still need to frame them but it is a great cute way to watch her grow and some of the photos are very silly. I have always been a fan of the photo booth but the black and white ones are harder and harder to find. They used to have them at all Fred Meyers but alas, no more. There is also a GREAT honey bear bakery and a fairly good toy store in this little shopping center. more

Great hang out and book store! 4/20/2006

I love this place. I come, browse the books, grab a coffee, and hang out for a while. They have lots of community events here, so check out their calendar - tons of writers groups and book clubs. And they have free wifi and don't glare at you if you sit all day and use it! Plus, you can sell your books back here and make a killing in cash or store credit (the better deal). more

Looking for a Good Book 12/1/2005

Third Place Books has two locations, one in Bothell and one in the Ravenna neighborhood. This is one of my favorite book stores to find a special gift or look for a new good book to read. It is a combination of both a new and used book store with the new and used books found next to each other on the shelf. There are also plenty of places to sit, browse through some books or get a healthy snack from the Honey Bear Bakery. The books are well organized and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They also purchase used books. It is a great place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon. more

Fun social place 11/5/2005

I like this place! i always find stuff there! The atmosphere is lively, there is some unusual books there, they hold events there also frequently for family or for one. Its a good place to hang out when its rainy outside, and you feel like putting your nose in a book. Big array of magazines too, and little doo dads. more

A great gathering place! 10/18/2005

Third Place Books has a wide selection of new and used books. I appreciate that the new and used books are shelved next to each other. The store offers a variety of events for all ages. I have seen some wonderful authors and illustrators here. My son loves the children's area. He especially enjoyed a recent pajama storytime event. more

Books and Coffee! 9/22/2005

The 2 Third Place locations- Ravenna and Lake Forest Park- have a great selection of new and used books. The Lake Forest Park location has a lot more to choose from. It's nice to be able to view new and used books together on the shelf. The buyback rate is decent, although lately they've been a lot pickier about what books they'll take. This is a great place to buy a book, sip some coffee and sit down for a good read. Staff is helpful and friendly. more

one stop enjoyment 9/9/2005

I can always count on Third Place books to meet my needs- i can stop for lunch or coffee with friends at the fabulous bakery/food court, pick up presents for people in the gift section, and they always seem to have the books i want in stock. The events they have there are fun for the community and i can spend hours wandering through the used books as well. Although it can be noisy and busy at times, it's worth going to on a weekday or evening when you're willing to wander and listen. more

Noisy Store! 9/1/2005

I know that a lot of people are big fans of this store, but I am not. It always seems very noisy when I am there. There is a food court inside the store and it seems to create a lot of noise and funny smells that I do not enjoy when I am book hunting. The middle of the store opens to a stairway leading downstairs to a shopping area. Overall I find the store dark, uncomfortable and noisy. I do not recommend this store. more

Great community gathering place 8/31/2005

Third Place is more than a bookstore, it's part of a large community gathering area in Lake Forest Park. A food court surrounds a variety of table types and sizes. You don't have to buy food to sit at the tables. Third Place puts on a whole calendar of events on the stage in this area, from author readings, to music groups, to magic shows. more

Third Place Books 8/19/2005

Third Place is very much a new Town Square. There's a little bit of everything, including author readings, music, food, and (of course!), books. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and they can quickly order anything that they don't have on the shelf. Comfortable chairs and well-organized displays make it very easy to lose track of time. This is a great place to meet friends or to enjoy and afternoon with a book and a scone from the Honey Bear. more

Good book store! 8/19/2005

Its a local bookstore that has new and used books. The prices on their new books might be a tad more expensive then usual stores, but they have a section with the used books that is very cheap for what they offer! I don't think they sell any movies or music here as they do at other book stores but you can get a lot of books for a small amount of cash as this is a pretty large place and they have tons of books to choose from! Located in the strip mall behind the police station in lake forest park! more

Pull up a comfy chair 8/17/2005

Third Place Books at Lake Forest Park is like walking into a community living room. The stacks of integrated new and used books are vast and inviting, selection is great, the chairs are super comfy, it's quiet in places and close to a hub of activity in others, the staff is friendly, and it feels like a place one can go at any time, stay for any length, and feel at home. I love that you can wander between Honey Bear Bakery, the life-size community chess board, and the book store as if it's one big entity, all while listening to live music and watching people dance. more
