Great, historic venue 7/17/2006

I can't remember what show I saw here (but they did do a cover of "Kung Fu Fighting") but I do remember this is a great venue to see a show. It's not too small and not too big and has been around for years. I'd definitely choose i to see a show. more

Classic for a Reason 2/27/2006

This LA staple is one of the oldest, best-loved concert venues. The intimate room is a favorite for locals to see up and coming as well as established bands. The food served up from the tiny kitchen in the rear isn't stellar, but it will do if you don't have time to stop for dinner elsewhere. more

Great place to watch a concert! 12/23/2005

The Troubadour is one of my favorite places to see a concert. You can catch up-and-coming bands and artists in a small, intimate venue at a reasonable price. I usually fax in my ticket order to avoid paying the lame TicketBastard overcharges. A lot of the shows are only $10 face value plus they charge only a couple bucks service fee. Parking can be an issue though. Across the street there are a couple $7 lots. I usually come early, get street parking and eat dinner nearby. If you plan on seeing a rock band there, bring earplugs! It can be really loud. They also sell earplugs at the bar area. Some times the guy at the door will give you a pass to the upstairs "Loft." Only thing up there is a bar and some couches and chairs where you can hang out. Once in a while you may see a celebrity there. The only negative I can think of probably has more to do with local ordinances, but shows there tend to be on the shorter set...like 1 hour or less for the headling band. I think there's a curfew. more

One of the oldest clubs, and one of the best. 12/7/2005

This place is one of the most famous, greatest places to see a band! Historically, many great bands have rocked the stage. There is a full bar, but the venue is all ages, so there is a diverse crowd, which sometimes can be annoying. Usually fun. It's a small place which sometimes feels cozy and sometimes feels suffocating. But if the band is good it doesn't matter. They card you when you go outside to smoke, so be prepared if you look young. Sometimes you see famous people watching the concert from the VIP room. Everyone says the acoustics are amazing, I thought it sounded really good, but I don't know anything about acoustics. Be sure you don't stage dive or you'll be out of there fast. more

Good Place to See a Band 11/28/2005

I've seen many shows at the Troubadour over the years - everything from country to punk and had an enjoyable evening every time. The tickets are usually pretty reasonable (I've seen some shows there for $12) and the events are all ages (that can be either good or bad depending on what you're there to see!). I usually head up to the balcony to get the best view of the stage. They have bench seating up there and the whole venue is general admission. I've heard they also have a "loft" area for all access people but I've never been in there. more

A Place of Great Acoustics 8/18/2005

Whenever you enter the Troubadour you know you're in somewhere special. Located at the entrance of Beverly Hills it is a place musicians have loved for years. The walls are covered with memorabilia of the stars that have played there over the years. The bar serves fantastic drinks all night and the merchandise people are always friendly. Inside the stage area is their mini restaurant serving sandwiches and salads. The stage, although small, is in the dead center of the acoustics for the room, and it serves for a great experience. Whether lounging in the upstairs benches or dancing in the crowd, you'll have a great time. more
