Hotel From Hell 12/28/2008

My 18 day stay at the Waldorf Astoria was the worst hotel stay in my life. The lobby is gorgeous, but everything begins and ends there. The hotel personnel are rude and curt. Everything at the hotel is over-priced and the room was filthy. When we arrived I had to ask to have the dirty carpet cleaned. It smelled and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in ten years. From there the stay just went downhill. There was a leak in the ceiling over our toilet and a 3 foot hole in the ceiling. I asked repeatedly to have the hole repaired only to be lied to by hotel personnel. My 8 year old daughter and I were locked out of our hotel room by the hotel management. It was a frightening and very upsetting experience for both myself and my little girl. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels in the past and this hotel should be rated as a 1 star hotel. The 1 star they earn from me is the elegance of their lobby. After that expect your stay to go downhill. more

Fantastic Hotel! 8/19/2005

The Waldorf Astoria is THE premier hotel in New York City! I stayed here for a couple of nights while my apartment was being repainted and absolutely loved every minute of it. The building is fabulous, and the staff is professional and beyond courteous. It's pricey, of course, and probably not somewhere I'd stay on a regular basis, but if you can afford it it's definitely worth the money ... I'd live there permanently if I were able! more

Top notch Manhattan hotel 7/27/2005

The Waldorf-Astoria (probably the flagship of the Hilton hotels -- yeah, betcha didn't know it's owned by Hilton!) is a beautifully restored hotel in the heart of New York City. For its smaller rooms, the prices are not bad, but anything that's executive room or bigger is very expensive. That being said, I was blwon away by one of their suites a few months ago, when I had the opportunity to stay there with my parents. This place had a full dining room and table in it! Absolutely beautiful. And the service at the Waldorf is fantastic. There are also some great restaurants and bars onsite too. So, somewhat pricey but if you can afford it, this is a magnificent place to stay. more
