Best

Met a group there after work and had a great time. Happy hour drinks were only $4, very good deal. It's really cozy, great mid-town spot Pros: Great foood,

Worst

I use to frequent Mica Bar after work, and loved their chic bar atmosphere. They've recently changed it, and with all the crappy bars in the area, they had to go and turn what was...

Our local spot :-) 8/26/2010

Stag's Head is the local bar by my job and we affectionately call it the ""pub""! Normally, we go there when things aren't going so well in the office. Food is always good, our waiteress is great and often knows when we arrive what we want to drink. That's either great service OR we have been there way too many times...probably both. Anyway, today we went with a group of 9 and all our orders were taken and arrived without even a hiccup. Really GOOD service is always important, especially during lunch and particularly in midtown! We have only had one bad experience and that was actually at the Cornerstone which is the sister bar. I don't fault Stag's Head at all. But, I would probably never go to the Cornerstone again. Thanks for letting us vent, giggle, laugh and simply enjoy lunch! more

Great Neighborhood Bar!! 1/31/2009

The Stag's Head is the brother/sister bar of the Cornerstone. They share the same exact menu yet the Stag's Head is bigger. We stumbled upon this place after the Cornerstone was jam packed. No big deal!! We couldn't believe we hadn't found this place sooner. I'm looking forward to returning! more

Great Pub 1/27/2009

The StagsHead is the best pub in the area. The food is really good and very inexpensive especially compared to some of the overpriced places in the neighborhood. It has a really cozy bar and dining room. If your in the area you can't go wrong stopping in the StagsHead for a bite. Pros: Great food, large beer selection Cons: can get crowded more

Best Pub in the area 11/15/2008

The Stagshead is new and I'm already a huge fan!! Pros: Food. Large beer selection. Fun staff Cons: Can't think of any. more

great bar on 2nd ave 11/5/2008

Great food staff and prices!!! varied menu vast beer selection at only $4 during happy hours!!! pleasant and helpful bar staff! Pros: great portions with reasonable prices on food! $4 beers and the best staff around! Cons: none apart from i cant make it there everyday! more

Hungover? The Stags Head will cure you! 11/3/2008

Nearly blinded by a severe hangover, my friend and I decided to play hooky and try the new bar on the block for lunch. The lunch prices are very reasonable and the menu has a better choice of lunch items than the usual turkey club- corned beef and cabbage that the surrounding bars have. After checking out the beer menu -which was vast, I ordered a harpoon brown ale , which I couldn't believe was only $4! The bartender explained that they had a happy hour of all domestic beers for $4 until 6pm daily. Nothing unusual there, except that some of their domestic beers are rare choices and if you can find them in any other bar, they normally charge you out for $7-$8 a pint! Pros: 20oz chilled guinness glass Cons: In between 2nd and 3rd avenue, not on the beaten path more

Great New Bar 11/3/2008

I came across the Stag's Head on Citysearch and i thought that i would try it out since it is right in the neighborhood where i work. The bar is really chill and la*d back. There is in fact a deers head on the wall. Bartender Amanda rocks!! Great place for happy hour or hang out after work. I def will be back! Pros: Cool new bar more

Use to be good until they changed it! 2/7/2007

I use to frequent Mica Bar after work, and loved their chic bar atmosphere. They've recently changed it, and with all the crappy bars in the area, they had to go and turn what was once a cute place into the crappiest bar of them all! My only hope is that they didn't change the cute outdoor patio bar... Cons: Ambience more

Always great for after-work 10/28/2006

I go to Mica a lot with my coworkers when we want to have some drinks at the end of the day. We're never disappointed. I highly recommend one of the party platters as they're fit to feed a small group, and even though this isn't technically a ""sushi place"", their sushi is actually quite delicious. They just changed their martini list and the Mochatini is to die for. I also tried the Dulce de Leche, and it's dessert in a glass. Yum! The staff is friendly and fun, but professional so I have no problem taking clients here. Pros: Great lounge environment, Just added flatscreen TVs in every room more

Great Place for Office Parties 10/20/2006

I work at JP Morgan & we were planning an office party. I called several places in the area to get prices. Mica Bar quoted a great price package for open bar and for party platters. I felt their event planners really went out of their way to help me plan our event. All the things that I asked for were completed. The day of the party the event planners were there to make sure all went well & the staff was great. The Platters looked amazing and a large selection of food. We all had a great time and I will continiue to use Mica bar for all our parties. Pros: Event Planners take the guess work out of planning parties. Just leave it in their hands more

Great Date Place 10/19/2006

I just went there on a date and I had a very nice time. The place had a good vibe. My date and I had a very nice cocktail server who took care of us. She recommended we try the seafood ceviche. Very yummy. They had a nice wine selection. The music was cool. A nice mix of cool lounge music. Pros: OPen Roof, DJ, Daily Happy hour specials & lots of Flat screens. Cons: Long bathroom line. more

Open Roof Deck, DJ, Kickin Happy Hour Specials & Friendly Staff 10/18/2006

I went to Mica 51 with some friends a few times and everytime I go, it's great. Every day of the week they have amazing happy hour specials. The open roof was very nice. I felt like I was having drinks over a friends house in their back yard. I liked the menu. I had the mediterranean spreads, tuna tartar & garlic bread bites. All were very tasty & easy to eat. We went on a thursday, they had $4 house mix drinks,$3 draft beer and a $4 apple martini. Can't beat that for after work. But they also had this Midnight Mojito that was out of this world & my friend tried their Dulce de Leche martini. It was nice that they added a few more flat screen tv's. Came in handy watching the Mets on the open roof. The Dj was spinning some 80's & flash back new wave. Very Cool. Pros: Open Roof, Many Flat screen Tv's, Happy Hour & DJ Cons: N/A more

Open Roof! 6/3/2004

A great place to gather with friends, great staff, we had a fun time. DJ rocks. Cannot wait to come back. We sipped mojitos under the stars, the open rooftop is a great idea. Pros: Tasty Tapas, Pretty Staff more

unexpectedly nice 6/13/2003

The staffs and service are actually quite the contrary of the negative comments posted here. I went there expecting bad service and ""tall beautiful asian waitresses"", as one of the posts stated, but it was totally the opposite. There were mostly people--men in suits, techies, and not too many women early in the evening--who work in the area. The service was rather quick consider there was only one bartender in the roof deck bar, and he was very courteous. That was my experience, but of course, we all have different expectations and needs thus different experiences, so read the users' reviews with discretion. Pros: Roof Deck, Reasonable prices more

Not bad 5/5/2003

went to the new location on 38th and 3rd for Thursday happy hour. met a group there and actually were able to sit at the tables - decor is nice, and especially liked the front windows opened out to the street. definitely worth a try! more

first and last time... 5/2/2003

I went with some co-workers to Mica bar for the first time last night. We enjoyed the food and the drinks, and were ready to spend a lot of money that night, but were literally ""kicked out"" in a very rude way when we were told to ""make room"" for a bigger party that had a reservation. Instead of trying to accomodate us differently, they just told us to leave...needless to say that we left for good and won't be coming back...ever... Cons: terrible staff more

Hip & Cool 2/21/2003

This classy little joint is a relief to the beer fueled frat boys a few blocks up. The staff is not the friendliest, but the crowd is usually upbeat and the music is always good. The prices are reasonable as well and they have a great wine list. It is definatley worth checking out. more

don't go 1/2/2003

I have been frequenting bars at least once per week in NYC for the past 2 years. This bar was without a doubt the WORST bar I have ever been to. The service was horrible, the drinks were mediocore at best and the bouncers and managers were the biggest jerks there are. Once you get in, all you want to do is find an exit and run out, but oh wait, THERE AREN'T ANY. you are trapped in the narrow hallway that is MICA BAR. It would take at least a six digit figure for me to return to MICA Bar. And even then, i'd rather just stay home for the night. more

Cute place 12/6/2002

Cute place, especially the second floow. They had a good special when I went - $5 Apple Martinis. They may have other special on other nights. Will probably go there again. Pros: Specials, Music not too loud, Not too croweded more

  • The Scene
The vaguely Oriental decor, with hints of Moroccan gold thrown in, looks like it all came from the same theme store, rather than a buying trip to the East. But get past that and...
