The Missing Piece, by far, is one of the best furniture stores I have ever visited, bought from and consigned with. \r \r I have always encountered the salespeople to be friendly and helpful. Whenever I/we have visited the Britton Plaza showroom, we've expressed our needs upfront, whether is was to browse bedroom furniture for our young daughters or inquiring about consigning items. We have had great experiences, especially being left alone to browse freely and have never felt pressured to buy anything either. \r \r TMP's delivery is also wonderfully smooth and painless. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that when we did purchase bedroom furniture for our daughter, we would have the bedroom furniture delivered w/in a day or two. The men delivering the furniture were courteous and professional, they took great care in handling and putting together the furniture as well, which I greatly appreciated.\r \r Through the years, we have purchased several items from The Missing Piece. The furniture itself is still great condition...just as it was on the showroom floor. We're excited to return when our home remodel is completed and it's time to upgrade our living room furniture as well as add'l rooms! more

I love this store! I have consigned multiple pieces there. They were very accommodating with my schedule when selling a very heavy piece that required pick up. I love their honesty about what will or won't sell-they know their stuff! more

The Missing Piece has such great gently used (some of it new) furniture ~ I have found some wonderful pieces that are priced right. Furniture shopping can be stressful with people following you around...at the Missing Piece they are friendly with out being pushy. I definitely recommend this store! more

Throughout the years, I have bought many 'pieces' from The Missing Piece! I peruse their daily arrivals to make sure I get a glimpse of what's new before it's gone! Love this place. more

I love this store! When I first moved to this area, I worked briefly in the Britton Plaza and would go into their store all the time. When I needed to get furniture for my new apartment, I bought several wonderful pieces from them and had them delivered, as I live in St. Pete. AND, I consigned the garage sale finds I had with them, as well. The experience was very easy and I was very happy with the service. When you go in to the store, everyone is gracious, not pushy. They let you browse w/o hounding you every 2 min. I hate that! And the consigning agreement was easy and successful. I think this store is one of the best consignment stores in the Tampa Bay area and is definitely one to check out. I always go by when I'm in their area and am on their newsletter list. Love to see what they get in! more

I have been a fan of The Missing Piece for many years. I have both sold and bought items through them. And, yes, they have declined to consign some of my items. That's their prerogative and I respect that. You would be hard pressed not to think you were in a showroom of new furniture when touring their Britton Plaza location. I purchased a metal frame queen sized bed from there and, before loading the pieces into my vehicle, we discovered that some screws were missing. They went out of their way located the needed items so that I wouldn't get home and not be able to put the bed together. I look forward to the next time that I can do business with this fine company. more

This is in response to Jack C. and his critic below. I am one of the owners here and was very involved with your quote and events that day. I am unsure of the ""bait and switch"" you are referring to unless you are talking about having us come to get your pieces only to find out they were damaged and not in the condition you promised they were. You did send me pictures, the bed was actually one of the most beautiful beds I have seen and I was very excited to bring it to our store and sell it for you. I am not interested in paying my movers, paying for gas in the truck and for everyone's time and then end up with nothing. But that was what happened. In my emails, I provide a long list of what we can and cannot take. In that list it states we cannot accept items that are damaged - your bed had a crack straight down the middle of the headboard. If also says we cannot accept items that are makeshift to fit your piece - the bed frame did not even match the bed itself. I cannot accept money from clients for a bed that is cracked and will probably not be able to be put together after they purchase it. It is very unfortunate we have sites out here on the internet world that allow people to post maliciously with half truths. This is a family business. This is our livelihood and we all work very hard to be a great addition to the South Tampa and Clearwater community. Shame on you, Jack. more

Beware of this company. They are bait and switch. I worked with them to sell a beautiful custom made bedroom set. Sent them pictures, original prices, builder [credible, wood crafter] and repeatedly stated was custom and would need some disassembling. Upon review, they stated though beautiful that they had re considered. I lost two other buyer prior to the holidays. \r \r I am disappointed and will not recommend this company EVER again. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. more

I have bought and sold many pieces of furniture at The Missing Piece. I type this as I am sitting on a fabulous bed purchased from the Britton Plaza location. Today (Sat 01/19/13), at the Britton Plaza store, I was treated so poorly. Upon entering the store, I was greeted with “Can I help you we close in 14 minutes”. After 45 seconds, another sales person bellowed: “CAN I HELP YOU!” in a tone that sounded like: “Can I help you – please leave quickly”. I left the store at 5:50pm, after doing a 2 minute lap around the store. Another sales person bellowed: “CAN I HELP YOU!” in a tone that sounded like: “Can I help you – please leave quickly”. I was shocked by my treatment, especially after having been a loyal customer for 10 years. more

So - So 8/6/2009

Cute store. Had bought from them before. I called 8/6/09. I wanted to consign. Employee gave me the email address in a hurry. My email did not go through. Second call and discovered when they say our email is the missingpiece(dot)com they mean this: themissingpiece(dot)com. A bit confusing. "The" needs to be stressed when giving the email address on the telephone. Pros: They consign - just send in a photo Cons: No personal touch - email is a bit confusing. more
