If anyone had every told me that one of my all-time favorite restaurant chains in the country would be a fondue place I would have told them they were crazy. Who the heck could possibly like a place where you are required to cook your own food at the table and then pay an outrageous price for the privilege? Well, turns out I do.
I first went to a Melting Pot for a New Years Eve dinner in St. Louis. With that dinner you didn't have much of a choice. You paid ahead of time, a certain amount per couple, a certain amount per individual, and there was a prepared menu. I have to say it was one of the finest dining experiences of my life. From the cheese to the meat and the selections of meat and fisha nd poultry, all of it was top notch. The oils and flavors to choose from are fantastic. Plus, it's actually kind of fun to cook your food and talk.
It's expensive. No doubt about it. However, you HAVE to stay for dessert. As my friend Scott phrased it, when dessert came, "you feel naughty eating this." It's so good, it's sinful
