Worst burger I've ever tasted! 6/2/2008

We visited this restaurant because we had a coupon for a free malt. It was a Sunday at lunchtime. The hostess was courteous and we were seated right away. But, our waitress was awful. She had no personality and didn't even say hello. Just stood there with a pad and pen to write our order. We ordered a cheeseburger and fries, a hamburger and fries, and one hamburger kids meal. Plus, our free chocolate malt. The malt was delivered almost immediately and was almost completely melted (perhaps a reject from another table?). While we waited for our other food, my husband plunked a dollar in the juke box and selected some music. Unfortunately, you couldn't hear it at all!\r \r When the food arrived, very quickly to our delight, we dove into the fries. They were fine, but nothing special. The burgers on the other hand were horrible. I truly can say that McDonald's has better burgers. We got up to find the waitress and said we had a problem with the food. She said she would get a manager. A full five minutes later, our waitress wandered over. We were so irritated by this time that my husband just told her we would not be paying for the burgers. They were chewy and dry and full of fillers. We paid for the fries only and left quickly. I do NOT recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good burger. Pros: Hostess was amiable, seating was plentiful, food was fast Cons: Waitress was a dud, the burgers tasted awful! more

Great lunch spot! 1/21/2008

I love this place. I don't know how we came across it, but we stop by whenever we are in the area for burgers and malts. Delicious! Great family-owned feel, service is great and the food has always been excellent. Highly recommended! Pros: great malts, positive ambiance, good food Cons: parking can be tough more

Great for a cheap dinner and good food 7/24/2007

This place has a great variety of malts and they are some of the best malts in town. I think they are comparable if not better than Annie's Parlour in Dinkytown (which also has great malts). I usually order the hamburger and ceasar salad there and it hits the spot if you in the mood for just a good burger that doesn't cost $10. It's feels like a diner style restaurant, good for families. Not good for first dates or a romantic setting. The beef au jus is very tasty there also. The waffle french fries are always a plus too. Overall, a decent place with good service and a meal to please the stomach. Not gourmet, but a very relaxing restaurant atmosphere. Two people could go there and walk out with a bill well under $20. Factor in the quality of the food it is a great value. Pros: Value, service, malts, overall food quality, live piano music (occasionally) Cons: not the largest, juciest hamburger in town, outdoor sign not big enough (easy to miss) more

yeah, the malts are good. 11/19/2006

this place would be good...except it always feels dirty. you know, like they don't really clean it. more

My in-laws favorite Minneapolis restaurant 4/1/2006

When my in-laws come in from LA, this is the first stop after the Grandson. Good food, good malts, good veggie options, not expensive. Pros: Malts, Vegtarian options more

What a disappointment! 2/24/2006

After 30 years, a friend and I decided that it was time to renew our accquaintance with the place. Boy, were we in for a surprise. Burgers were not cooked to order, were terribly dry and the buns are too big. I ended up taking half home to the dog, who's not particular about how his burgers are done. Pineapple shake had no taste nor evidence of pineapple in it. Pros: Ambience, Wait staff Cons: Burgers, Shakes more

It's name says it a;l 5/26/2005

Burgers, malts and a few surpises. The ratatouille, for example. And the salads. Best of all thought, are the malts. Casual dining, and a great place for kids. Pros: great malts, good, casual dining, great fries Cons: parking can be tough more

cute spot 2/29/2004

The grilled cheese and hot fudge shake are unbelievable. Just hope you get a booth because the rest of the restaurant is kind of dark. Pros: inexpensive, cozy, fun Cons: , horrible parking, chilly more

This is the best place in the cities to get a malt. I brought my out of towner parents there, and they considered moving here. The remembered going there when ""but kids."" Best pumpkin malt in town! Pros: Small town feel, Great food! Cons: Bad parking more

Delicious! 7/27/2002

I love this place because it is cheap and good and has a variety of vegetarian options for veg heads like myself. Pros: menu, inexpensive more
