Dissatisfied bride to be... 10/11/2010

When I found the Cliffs Resort I was excited to host my wedding at this venue. However, I became disappointed when I was told the site was not available due to overbooking. This was after 3 weeks of back and forth emails with a hotel staff who told me the site was available when we first contacted the hotel. I was working toward finalizing the process but then I was told it was not available. This was very hard since we thought we had a place so we stopped searching for other venues. I just didn't understand why this was not caught in the beginning so that I could have located another venue. I lost a month's time and this was a very stressful and unpleasant wedding planning process for me with this hotel. more

Cliffs Resort -- would never go back again 2/19/2008

This hotel's service is unbelievably bad. The staff are very irresponsible. The price they listed on their website does not include tax, and they force you to pay a ""resort fee"" upon arrival that supposedly is for the parking. \r I booked a Valentine's package and it is supposed to include Valentine's Day dinner, one night's stay, and rose petals on the bed etc. I tried to place the dinner reservation right after I booked it and I was told that they will call me later. Two weeks later someone in the restaurant called and said ""why didn't you make a reservation early, we are full before 8"". I told her that I tried to do it earlier and I was waiting for them to call me! Then she agreed to put me in at 6:30. And guess what? The day before I arrived I was told that my dinner reservation is moved to after 9! \r On top of that, the rose petal they put on the bed are not real -- they are made of cheap plastics! \r Dinner was also disappointing. The food were okay at most and the server kept rushing us. We also never received the truffles. Cons: bad service, hidden fees more

Staying here could keep you out of hot water 2/9/2008

The beds are comfortable and the restaurant (Marisol) is top quality, both in terms for cuisine and service. Try the butternut squash soup and any seafood entree'. Much to my surprise, I had trouble getting hot water the first couple days; others in my business group had similar complaints. The front desk was informed but that seemed to be of little avail. Thanks to one of my team member's suggestion, I was able to solve the problem by letting the water run a long time in the morning before stepping into the shower; eventually it warmed up. You may hear about how the great the view is from the hotel. Well, not if you have a basement floor room like I was given (one level below the lobby). Then, you have no view. Other than that, yeah, you can get a great view of the ocean from the back of the hotel, the restaurant, and I guess the upper floors. Interestingly, I found the front desk staff demographically segmented. Pretty, young women by day and early evening, and Latino middle aged men late night and early morning. In either case, hotel staff is courteous and professional, though they did botch my wake up call on the morning I was checking out. If I hadn't set my cell phone as a back-up alarm, I would've missed my flight. Of course, I let them know my disappointment, and the early morning front desk guys were apologetic. Apparently, the young lady the night before hadn't written my requested wake-up time clearly on the note. That's another funny thing - the hotel, despite its bright and glittering lobby, wasn't that modern. The wake-up calls are not autmotated - a person actually rings your room. The management isn't super accomodating either. Contrary to my request, they were denying me the corporate rate for Friday night, the last night of my stay. Fortunately, when I checked out the next morning, I saw that I got the corporate rate anyway. I don't know if that was an oversight or if the morning guys gave it to me because they felt bad about the wake-up call. Pros: Good restaurant, comfortable beds Cons: Problem with hot water, self-parking lot isn't that big (parking tight on Friday night) more

A Wonderful Sunday Brunch 9/13/2005

The last concert of the summer we decided to check out the Cliffs Resort and had a wonderful time. We planned on having the barbeque, but the brunch looked so good, we changed our minds. It was well worth it! I highly recommend this site for a great brunch and some good afternoon entertainment. Pros: Brunch Cons: Price more
