Just Amazing... 4/4/2006

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is one of the greatest botanical gardens I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. I've been on multiple occassions and it is always a delight. The display of pitcher plants is absolutely fabulous, as is the orchid house. The hothouse part of the garden is nice, but the extensive outdoor grounds are just as spectacular. Feel like you're walking though a Jane Austen novel as you stroll through the more formal gardens, or roam through the Asian-inspired gardens. There are also less formal green areas. It's a great place to visit and I hgihly recommend it. more

The Children's Garden 11/18/2005

The Children's Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Garden combines plant education and interactive play to create Atlanta's favorite family get away. Fun surprises like the limestone Green Man Fountain, a mythical half-man, half-plant legend sculpted with a face made of leaves. In the Live garden, kids can go "inside" a plant to learn how gases are exchanged, then either walk out or slide down a sliding board. Way COOL! more

A fun and beautiful attraction for a day out 11/16/2005

A few of my friends and I took our kids (ages 3 and under) to the Botanical Gardens for a day out. I had never been before and was in awe of the beautiful flowers and water fountains. My daughter really liked the more exotic flowers and wanted her picture made with all of them. The children's garden is really enjoyable for the kids (and parents). There is a zero depth water feature which is great if you go on a warm day. There is also a dinosaur sand pit and small playground like area with a slide. The reasons I didn't give the botanical gardens five stars include the parking situation (there is none, you have to park street side across from the park) and the cafe (it cost $17 for a chicken nugget meal, a sandwich and two drinks). So when you visit the botanical gardens don't forget your camera, be prepared to walk a lot, and bring a sack lunch. more

Go see the trains 10/17/2005

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens are an unknown gem in the city of Atlanta. The gardens are incredibly beautiful and well-kept. There is an exhibit right now with trains that is wonderful for the kids. They absolutely love to spend time there. It is a place that you can feel comfortable letting the kids run around and enjoy the sights. The kids could have spent alot more time there if we had not needed to head out after 3 hours. Go spend some time in the Garden! more

Beautiful and Peaceful 10/14/2005

The flowers are just one reason to go this tranquil place. The gift shop sells beautiful flowers and jewelry, and the new music series features acclaimed artists. One major plus for kids: the children's garden is both fun and informative. There are fountains that are designed for children to play in, so make sure junior is wearing swim trunks, and bring a towel. The greenhouse is just wonderful, and every child I've ever brought there is just entranced by the poison dart frogs. Parking is good, and volunteers are plentiful to answer questions. more

Must See! 9/17/2005

The Botanical Gardens is very impressive. The indoor garden is fun to explore with its birds, water features and paths that wind around the exotic plants/trees. Great for children. There is also a large and amazing children's garden with a water feature so bring your swimsuit and towel for the kids. A fun herb garden too. A fun place to walk, explore and discover wonderful plants and trees. Guaranteed you will learn and discover things along the way. more

Beautiful Gardens 8/20/2005

Atlanta Botanical Garden, the most beautiful spot in Atlanta, is 30 acres of outdoor display gardens, the Children's garden & Storza Woods, along with an incredible permanent display of tropical orchids in the Fuqua Orchid Center & Conservatory, home to rare and endangered tropical & desert plants. I have went and I do want to go back. They do have a special childrens garden with Beehive Meadow ia larger-than-life model of three of nature's most important pollinators -- bees, butterflies and birds -- flying over meadow flowers. Your kids will love it mine do and so do I! more

Botanical Garden 8/18/2005

Very good botanical garden attached to Piedmont Park. They have several exhibits a year that are interesting to both kids and adults. Last year they had a Chihuly exhibit that was gorgeously entwined with the garden. There is a separate garden just for children to play in that has a theatre, a water fountain and a tree house. This is great for parents to get a yearly pass to if they stay at home with the kids and look for places to spend the day. more

Gorgeous Gardens 8/18/2005

The Atlanta Botanical Garden has something for everyone. The landscaping is gorgeous. There is a scented garden, an arboretum, conservatory, woodland gardens and much more. The children's garden makes the trip fun for the whole family. The best part of the whole thing is that the garden changes so much from season to season and even week to week. There is always something new to see. more

Love this place 8/10/2005

I never would have thought of taking a toddler to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens but hesitantly agreed to go with my friend and her son. I bought my membership as we left. There were various 'types' of gardens to walk through and the plants were clearly identified which was nice for me. The indoor gardens are amazing with 'poisonous' frogs (I was assured they're only poisonous in the wild) and little birds afoot. There also is a wonderful children's garden where the kids are encouraged to touch the flowers. The children's garden also has a little area where plastic flowers shower them with water. Great for the summer when you can bring a bathing suit and let junior frolic. The cafe is the only negative I have. Nothing impressive food. VERY overpriced and the service is slow and grouchy. Pack your own picnic lunch and just buy a cold drink or ice cream. more
