variety of stores, activities for kids 4/12/2006

There is a good mix of stores at The Streets at Southpoint. Upper end, every day and specialty stores. Their is a great indoor play area for kids (under age 7 or so - it is based on height). There are pretty fountains outside including one that you can control the water flow on! There is a big variety of food to pick from as well. Adult meals, family restaurants, food court, etc. Their is a movie theater as well. Great way to spend an afternoon. more

Fancy Shopping 3/29/2006

The Streets at Southpoint created tons of hoopla when it opened, jamming up traffic on I-40! It’s easy to see why – it’s big, it’s fancy, it’s the place to shop. This mall features many upscale stores, including the only Nordstrom’s in the area. It also has a fantastic sports-themed children’s play area. The mall is fun just simply to walk through as it was designed to look like storefronts on a street. The Christmas decorations are especially pretty. more

touted for more than it turns out to be 3/18/2006

While it may be above average for Durham, I have seen better malls with better layouts and store selections. They do have a variety of stores, both in price range and goods offered, but I find the layout to be subpar. There is not a good flow within the mall and trying to get to a specific during major holidy seasons will turn out to be an obstacle course. If you are into wondow shopping, this is a good place. They have lots of benches to sit and people watch. more

pretty good for durham 3/17/2006

I've been to better malls, but Southpoint is the best mall in Durham. Parking is sometimes a pain on Friday and Saturday nights (as is the traffic getting out of the parking lot). There's a decent assortment of shops and restaurants, and the whole thing is very nice and new. Overall, it's a fairly enjoyable place to shop. more

Wonderful Mall 12/14/2005

This is a new mall. Half the stores are inside and half outside which is great on a beautiful day but not on a rainy day. Has a lot of nice stores, Belks, Hechts, JCPenney, Nortrums, Sears, all the major stores. Has a great food court, lots of restaurants and a big movie theatre. My only big complaint is that there is no covered parking so I can't go to this mall in the rain and stay dry! more

Great building- average shopping! 8/29/2005

This is a well designed shopping mall, and everything in it is very nice and new. There is an outdoor mall section with many restaurants- great place on a summer night. The feeling inside the mall is very open and airy. Being from Atlanta, I have not been overly excited about the actual selection in the stores- the Nordstrom is tiny and many stores have less selection than you would see in a major city. Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma- great stores and great staff! Overall, this is a great place to shop in this area! more

Worth an Afternoon of Entertainment 8/26/2005

To the right of the gaudy Southpont cinema is an avenue lined with shops suitable for men, women, and kids. Bring the family, grab a coffee at Barnes and Noble, or some ice cream or fudge at the "other stores" (sorry, can't remember exact names). Then drop dear hubby off at the Apple or the Bose stores, go buy your dear kiddie a cute outift, shop for new glasses or watches for yourself, then gather the whole family to choose bed sheets at Eddie Bauer Home or one of the other home furnishing stores. If you get hungry, there are no less than five restaurants to choose from (Maggiano's- Italian food, California Pizza Kitchen, Champs- American bar food, Firebirds Rocky Mt. Grill, and a seafood place). But go early because everyone else who is out shopping will be lined up for seating during the dinner rush hour as well. Or head into the adjacent Southpoint Mall for some food court action. Oh, true to it's name, this really is somewhat of an "outdoors mall" and there are lots of benches and fountains to sit on and watch people or the world pass by. more

Love this mall! 8/17/2005

It has a Nordstrom's - the only one in the state. Do I really need to say more? Okay, it has Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, United Colors of Benetton, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Metropolitan Deluxe, a good movie theatre, yummy restaurants (California Pizza Kitchen is my fav!!!), Cinnabon, and Marble Slab. What else could you possibly ask for? Oh yeah - Cold Stone instead of Marble Slab and The Limited! Why oh why is the only Limited at Crabtree?!?! more

Wide variety of shops in and out of mall 8/17/2005

The Streets at Southpoint are just a fabulous place to shop! Outside there are stores set up along cobblestone streets. There are also restaurants mixed in as well such as Maggianos. Inside the mall, there are several high end department stores and also a few lower end ones as well. There are all types of stores found in the mall and worth a visit here! more

Excellent Place to shop at 8/13/2005

This is the number 1 place to go shopping at. With some of the best food you'll find and the best stores this is definitely the best shopping place. Including Maggino's, Rock Fish Grill and much more these are just some of the example you'll find here. There is also a Mac store and a Bose store with lots of other decorating stores also. This is the best place you can find to shop at. more

A good mall. 8/11/2005

The Southpoint mall is one of the two newest malls in the area. Each store features a little shop front like a building. The ambience is certainly nice. The kids area next to the food court is fun for the youngsters, and the fountains outside are certainly a draw. We love the restaurants, but find the selection of stores to be somewhat lacking. Overall it has a lot of little fu-fu stores that are tremendous fun to look at, lots of restaurants, and a fun place to go.. But not for serious shopping. more
