Best

This is a great place to spend an hour or two on a rainy day with a toddler. My almost one year old son had a great time in the ""Discovery Bay"" area, which has lots of stuff ge...

Worst

The walk arounf the rock is littered with gum and dirt. The place should really be maintained better. All in all, still a great place for learning. A simple fix on most of the ...

Children's Museum 8/19/2005

If you're looking to occupy the kids' time for a day, you could do worse than a museum devoted to them. They can learn about the area forests, play fireman, explore their artistic sides, sail to foreign lands, explore their acting abilities in a faux theater, and many other things sure to delight them. more

Fun for kids 8/16/2005

The Seattle Children’s Museum is a must for the 1 to 6 year old set. The permanent exhibits are a theatre, grocery store, mini metro bus, Cog-City, a nature mountain, art studio and Japanese and philipines house and shops. There is a terrific play area for the under 2 1/2 year old set so they won’t get overwhelmed by the big kids. They have party rooms for birthdays. They are in the bottom floor of the Seattle Center Center-house. more

Children's Museum 8/8/2005

Located in the lower level of the Center House in Seattle Center, the Children's Museum occupies a vast space filled with all sorts of ways for children to explore and use their imaginations. Directly across from the entrance is a large climbing wall and there are paths with caves to explore. There are many different tableux set up with appropriate props for children to act out storylines - e.g., houses from different nations, stores, etc. There is also a special area for crawlers and several rooms that can be rented out for birthday parties. more

The best museum for kids! 7/27/2005

This place is amazing! There are so many things to do and see! They have a small village where everything is kid sized - all the stores, counters, vehicles... then there's a great stage with lights and backdrops that the kids can change around, including costumes to dress up in. There's a ball room where they can use pulley's and leavers to make the balls move around the room. A music room with drums, guitars and a microphone in a small studio. My kids LOVE going here and we try to go at least once a year. SO much fun! more

Fun for families 7/12/2005

They set this museum up very nicely with lots to do for kids. I have been there on a couple of occasions where some of the attractions were broken. There are a lot of people here on weekends so it can get a little crazy. But if you are patient, it is sure worth it. Parking is terrible downtown so expect a bit of a walk. There are plenty of side streets to try. more

Rainy day fun 7/4/2005

On a rainy day, this is a good place to take young children. Inside you will find a mock-up of a grocery store, a stage with lighting to manipulate, whale-shaped tunnels, and more. The family membership is one of the best deals around, because you can take up to four guests each time you go. more

Makes for a fun day with your toddler(s)! 6/15/2005

We have utilized The Children's Museum for more that a handful of birthday parties. You can rent a "birthday room" for the party and then let kids run free! There are mini exhibits which give kids a chance to explore and pretend! Some examples are mini-stores, restaurants with pretend food, Nature related exhibits, technology releated exhibits, and good old fashioned "dress-up" fun on a stage. Party or no party this place has a lot of "hands on" things to do for your toddler(s). more

  • The Experience
This is one of the best places to escape with your little ones on a rainy afternoon. Located on the lower level of the Center House, the museum offers unique exhibits that both educate and entertain. Children can explore a Mayan village, "drive" a Metro bus, manage a Mexican restaurant or put on a performance at the Bijou Theatre--complete with lights and sound effects. Rotating exhibits make each visit new and interesting.

    Features
Discovery Bay is for kids 2 1/2 and younger. It features a ferry and other sea-themed attractions, as well as toys and books. The Global Village is a fun place for kids to explore and celebrate other cultures. Older kids will like the art and technology programs. These fill fast, so ask about that day's programs and availability when you arrive. The museum offers plenty of unique photo opportunities--including a sail boat and kid-sized fire truck--so bring your camera.
