They Are More Than Just Bell Ringers 5/17/2006

We all first got to know them from seeing them in front of stores ringing the bell during the holidays. Standing in the cold with a red bucket next to them, it's a classic scene right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. These terrific folks work year-round as well doing the Lord's work. Buying clothes that were donated to this or any of their stores is one way you can help, donating clothes or money is another. Most of their stores have some quality used or vintage stuff. Just allow yourself some time to go "treasure hunting" more

Salvation Army 5/3/2006

Hey Peter. I don't have a great answer for you but I do have a suggestion. Give this Salvation Army store a try. I've made donations there in the past and think it's probably going to meet/exceed your needs. There also one up in Evanston on Chicago Ave that has a lot of clothes from which to choose. How do you like Chicago otherwise? more

Nice thrift shop in the city 8/5/2005

This is my favorite thrift shop in the city. One bonus is that it is all on one floor, while many are on 2 or three in other places. They seem to get a good selection of high-quality merchandise/clothing. The name brands are usually in good condition. Also, they get unsold merchandise from Target, and sometimes you can get some good bargains. Worth stopping by if there's something you need but don't want to pay retail. more

kinda high priced on there stuff... 7/3/2005

I went in there to purchase some blue jeans i needed. kinda high priced on not only there clothing, but everything in there store. the staff was not that friendly or eager to help me find things,i guess because they donate there time,so don't care either way if i buy or not. store was a mess when i walked in there and clothes were thrown over racks and on the floor as well...would not recommend getting clothes or anything from them. more
