In ShortEvery inch of Andre Balazs' Standard hotel is an exercise in surreal chic--from the scantily clad woman sleeping in the glass case behind the front desk to the fish hanging from the lounge ceiling. Lounge gracefully at the tables inside or saunter out to the inflatable couches in lobby, which is carpeted floor to ceiling in white shag. You can enjoy sweeping views of the entire L.A. basin from the Astro Turfed pool deck, which is usually draped with fabulous and bored young smokers.
