Best

Huge portions! Yummy breakfast and yummy sausage links and yummy pancakes! Really busy on the weekends, so I'd say go early. Totally worth the wait and you won't regret it. Hear...

Worst

There are cheaper breakfasts that are just as good. The only reasons to go to an Original Pancake House would be for the Dutch Baby, which I've never seen anywhere else.

Gr8 Pancakes 8/5/2011

Yes long lines and people squeezed in to tight. But love the pancakes. Golden brown as they should be. Some of the help tries very hard to make your breakfast enjoyable. Maybe the lines wouldn;t be so long if George's down the street wasn't so bad. more

Long Waits and Pricey 4/16/2010

We live in Kirkland and have crossed this place off our favorites. Pros: Across the Street From Starbucks Cons: Pricey and Slow Service more

Horrible Service 1/20/2010

Went there this past week and had the most horrible service that we had to walk out. We had waited for at least 20 minutes and still the server had not taken our order or even greeted us. The table next to us was seated after us, got their orders taken and got their food while we were still waiting for our server to come. We were able to flag down the coffee boy and he told us that he would get the server, yet I watched him and he didn't do anything; so we finally decided enough was enough! We walked out after 20 minutes of wasted time and a couple sips of really bad coffee. Cons: bad service and bad coffee more

worst waffle ever 10/23/2008

My waffle was dry and hard and my husband's pancakes were burned. It's not like we went in with super-high expectations, we saw a pancake house, we were hungry and thought it would be comparable to an IHOP. It wasn't. Pros: service, parking Cons: food more

Will NEVER return. 4/28/2008

We will NOT go back after eating there yesterday. My friend ordered strawberry crepes. This consisted of several tough crepes rolled - no filling - with a few dry strawberries dropped onto the top. I ordered a blueberry waffle. I have had better frozen. They put approximately 1/2 cup of powdered sugar on top - the syrup was cold. I told the waitress - she just giggled. What followed - a bill for over with one cup of coffee. \r We had been to this place a few times previously. It was fine - way too much food (5 egg omelets!!) Now i can get a two egg omelet for $1.00 less. Most things on the menu are now around $9.00 - $13.00. The prices have been raised substantially and the service lowered. The new Kirkland - fake and expensive.\r BTW the table was sticky. We had asked for a booth and were told ""no"" that they were closing very soon and the wait would be too long. About three minutes after sitting at the sticky table, they wisked in another couple to a booth. Pros: location - close to home - that is ALL Cons: Food, service, expensive - I have no idea where they get the one $ more

Huge Portions - Bring your appetite 3/5/2006

I go here often with the wife, and everything from the biscuits and gravy, to the hashed browns are great...on the weekends (incl. friday). the coffee is some of the best and most consistant i've had at a restaurant. I would advise you to already be a fan of strong coffee before you order it, though. On early weekday mornings, the service and food are average at best. I don't know if they save their best staff for the weekends, or what, but i would advise against a weekday visit, at least for your first trip. The wait on the weekends is long, but the turnover is good, and the staff is good at coordinating with each other and getting your party seated quickly. Pros: Huge portions, Great prices, Very clean Cons: Long wait on weekends, Inconsistant service more

Good, but not up to OPH standards 1/12/2006

The OPH franchise is an American classic and its legendary reputation for quality is well-deserved. Sadly, the Kirkland location falls short. While Kirkland's offerings are ""good,"" they often lack the charming, fussy touches that make the same dishes seem special at other locations. Kirkland's huge, Trucker-style coffee mugs are annoying, and the brackish coffee is an affront to OPH's widely acclaimed fine roast blend. Cups and saucers, please! The eggs here are substandard --- I like 'em poached, and on two visits they were undercooked and served cool. The toast, too, isn't up to snuff --- it's cut from small loaves one suspects are used as a cost-saving device. The Dutch Babies and Apple Pancakes are just as good as those served at other locations. No OPH can match the ""original"" Portland, Oregon, location, but Kirkland's rendition is a disappointment for an area whose diners are reputedly discriminating and sophisticated. Pros: casual, comfortable, ample parking Cons: poorly cooked eggs, cups, saucers please! more

Mmmm, pancakes!!!! 7/18/2005

We had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated but the wait was worth it. The pancakes are cooked perfectly. I went with the chocolate chip ones and next time will definitely be going for the oven baked apple pancake. The portions are huge. Pros: Good Food, Inexpensive Cons: Long Waits more

Awesome pancakes 3/13/2005

The buttermilk pancakes are the best! If you are looking for good tasting pancakes, this is your place. The apple pancake, dutch baby basically all the pastries are great! The eggs are standard and I don't eat pork, so I don't have reviews for the meats. The country potatoes are good, but not the all time best there is. The price is a little on the high side in comparison to Dennys, but with homemade food and fresh tasting creations... I pay the extra buck or two. Average breakfast is around $6. Call ahead on the weekends though Pros: pancakes, fresh OJ, Free food when waitin Cons: Long wait on weekends, slightly costly more

Best Pancakes in Seattle 8/23/2002

Without a doubt the best pancakes in Seattle. A shame, there aren't more of those stores around. Pros: best pancakes Cons: long wait on weekends more

Not impressed 7/30/2002

I've been here four, maybe five times, and the best I can say is that the pancakes are consistent. Not great, but consistent. I've never had good eggs here, and the home fries are just terrible (I mean really terrible - I've never come close to finishing an order). Their ""special recipe"" sausage is not good and not well prepared. And worst of all, it's all very expensive. The fact that there are always lines here is really surprising. If someone were to open a really good, well-run breakfast house in Kirkland, I think this one would have to improve or go under. more

Too pricey 6/7/2002
