I am amazed that more doctors don?t get the kind of details that Dr. Mech gets by using testing. He is very though and very caring.

Dr. Mech is a doctor who sees people with the most difficult to treat problems. I have had many doctors over many years. I now feel really listened-to and understood for the first time more

My therapist referred me to Dr. Mech. 6/5/2012

My therapist referred me to Dr. Mech. They worked very well to help me develop better coping and a whole new way to think of taking care of myself. more

Dr. Mech is one of the most 5/24/2012

Dr. Mech is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever seen. He carefully listened to me and helped figure out how to help me with symptoms that I have had for years. I feel like I have gotten my life back. more

Dr. Mech was willing to fight for me 5/15/2012

The staff at Dr. Mech?s office have been very nice to me and have helped me get my insurance to pay for my medicine. Other doctors just gave me what the insurance company wanted me to be on. Those medicines didn?t work. I am glad Dr. Mech and his staff were willing to fight for me. more

My son is doing so much better... 5/10/2012

My son has been able to get off ADHD medicine and with his sleep straightened out he is getting A's and is doing great in school. more

Thank you for all your support and help 5/1/2012

Mech has helped me greatly! 8/8/2011

Dr. Mech is a true genius in the psychiatric field. He does tend to talk fast -- but will work with you until you reached desired result. more

not terrible, but not ideal 6/28/2011

(1) You have to fill out a 10+ page self-evaluation form upon each visit. Each page is full of questions wanting you to score yourself on a scale of 1 to 5 for various issues. This survey gets annoying the 20th time you've filled it out, and only becomes important if your score for a category (depression, ADHD, etc) is in the abnormal range. In my experience, Dr. Mech and his PA's do not do anything with the form beyond that. The same information could be extracted from the patients themselves by Dr. Mech. (2) Wait times are long and unpredictable if you turn in your self-evaluation after your scheduled appointment time. Get there 30 minutes early to get the form done on time. In my experience, this will ensure your wait time is only 30-ish minutes max. Otherwise, forget it... you'll probably be waiting upwards of 45 minutes to 2 hours. (3) I get to see Dr. Mech every time personally ... if you develop a relationship with him, maybe you will too. Apparently he's pretty busy. (4) He has toned down on over-medicating patients (probably due to the sanctions and random audits he faces now) (5) Dr. Mech knows his stuff, there's no question about that after talking to him. He does speak way too fast to the point that it's hard or impossible to absorb what he's saying though. (6) Your actual appointment with him will be around 5 minutes max unless you push him to stay longer. (7) Staff are absolutely, completely incompetent... never return calls, usually do not follow up on anything unless you harass them over the phone several times, etc. This is my biggest complaint by far. Also, they are typically rude. Unprofessional. I don't know what the $#%* their problem is, especially since the staff has changed out several times already. The issues never go away. (8) PA's aren't too bad... more

Go somewhere else! He does not care 6/28/2011

Everything you have read is true. This guy does not care about you. Neither does his staff. Lots of paperwork and long waiting periods. I was a new patient the day before their EMR system crashed. I called in a couple of weeks later and they could not find my chart. They could not refill my prescription because they had no idea who I was. This place is a joke. This doctor does not care about you!!! All he wants is your money. Your pay so much money to spend about 5 minutes with him, and all he does is push pills down your throat. Then you come back in the next day and you have a balance. One day you have a balance and the next day you have a credit. How can they even know who you are if they do not have an EMR system? The front desk say they are getting a new system but every time I call to see if they have resolved anything they tell me it is the same. Also I looked him up online and he keeps changing his name. First he was Mech Psychiatric Associates, then he was The Mech Center, Now he is Mech Healthcare Associates? What is wrong with this picture? Something is definitely wrong here!!!! Do not trust him. Go somewhere else. Somewhere that the Doctor cares about you! Read it for yourself. Check out the reviews for one of his Aliases (Mech Psychiatric Associates) more

Go somewhere that cares 10/18/2010

I was referred by my doctor. I will speak with her next time I see her. more

Do not go here! 8/23/2010

Very long waiting period, they then see you for 5 minutes. Money making facility, no visible dr/patient rapport. On one occasion they refused to see my son. I. Had driven 30 miles and left my purse at home. They were adamant @ requiring the 10.00 co pay, and rfused under any circumstance to make an exception. Yet the 20.00 copay they billed me in error took many months to recover. I will never go back...worst facility I have ever been to. more

Do Not See Him! 6/18/2010

He refused to see my son or I because he was running behind and had some meeting to be at, at 5 pm. We waited in his office for 2 hrs to be seen. His staff was so rude and said I have to reschedule due to his meeting. I can not believe this. This place is unprofessional and not organized due to trying to see to many patients for more and more money. He does not care one bit about his patients! His time is more valuable then yours! Pros: nothing!!!! Cons: does not care about his patients more

Stay FAR AWAY from Mech Clinic 11/27/2009

Other reviews I read about this clinic are true. You'll see Dr Mech once for 5 minutes and never again. He turns you over to his assistants and they don't know what the heck they're doing. Also, they are not helpful and it's hard to talk to anyone there. I went to this clinic for 6 months and left in frustration. They even dipped into areas of my health that was not their specialization, and after many months on Thyroid medicine, I found I didn't even need it and it had given me new problems and side effects. Today, I can't even get their phone number to ring. I have questions for the staff. What.......did they go out of business or did they get a new phone number? Just another example of how poor this clinic is for customer service. Just find another doctor and don't waste time with this one. Cons: you are not a human being, just money to them more

Not recommended 11/2/2009

My wife and I have been taking our son to the Mech center now for about 2 years. We were very happy with our previous doctor but had to swithch to the Mech Center for insurance reasons. We have never once had a pleasant experience at this office. For starters you typically will wait 2+ hours to get seen by the doctor. No exaggeration, 2+ hours after your shceduled appointment! Dr. Mech expresses no real interest in the child's well being, just administering drugs. His cold and mechanical approach is a real turn off. His admin staff is also unhelpful and non-responsive when we have requested receipts for services rendered, etc. I would suggest you go elsewhere. After our last visit we vowed not to return. Pros: Location Cons: Unfriendly Doctor and Staff, LONG Waiting periods more

Stay Away! 8/24/2009

Dr. Mech should be stripped of his license. For three years I was in his care and saw his incompetent and uncaring PAs 50x more than I ever saw him. He touts himself as a Christian Psychiatrist and is sought out for speaking engagements in the mental health community. He has a great deal of knowledge and is admittedly very intelligent. However, his practice is unethical. As a fifth medication was being pushed on me, I finally thought I should look up his records with the texas state board of medical examiners. Not surprisingly I found a host of others who were over medicated in dangerously high dosages of ""medications"" that were not even specified for their presenting problem. No doubt his prescribing these meds is in line with his research interests. His patients are literally his experiments. Do not go to this man. He will waste your time, money, and put your life at risk. Cons: Wreckless practices more

Practioner services are good, but admin is not trained well 3/3/2009

the seem to have problems charging us right. They want you to pay a copay at the time you have your visit, but dont take into consideration that they have a negotiated rate with the insurance and your copay is a portion of THAT fee, not their full fee. I dont know how many times I have had issues with them charging the right thing. Usually after 3-4 visits I can take in explanation of benefits and they figure it out. But I have had to go through this probably the last three years. I don;t know if they have a high turnover rate in the admin, but it seems I always have issues to straighten out. more

Detrimental to Your Mental Health! 1/4/2009

Unfortunately, my insurance will not pay a proper provider. So, I've been forced to see the practioners at the Mech Center on regular intervals. Like other reviewers mention, you are forced to change medication (possibly to test the one your on), only to get much worse before you get what you've been prescribed in the past that works! more

You would probably be better off 12/10/2008

I was referred to the Mech Center by a friend after I had to change doctors. She said the place was helpful and easy to deal with. Now that I have gone and been there quite a few times, I am not sure if we are both going to the same place. When I went there for my first appointment I had told Dr Mech that the medication I was on was good but I think we need to up the dosage because I had been on the same dosage for quite a while and eventually with this medicine your body gets use to it. Instead of upping my dosage like any one else would because that is how the medication is formulated he completely changed medications on me. I had horrible side effects from the medication and my symptoms were worse than when I didn't take any medication at all. So I went back again a couple of weeks later, once again instead of putting me on what already works they put me on another new medication, this one was even worse and cost much more. Now keep in mind that I was having to go back every two weeks to see how the medication was working so that's 30 dollars each time plus they kept changing my prescription so I was also paying anywhere from 40-80 per perscription every two weeks. FINALLY after 3 months of trial and error the doctor finally puts me on the initial medication I was on when I was there for my first visit and even then they didn't give me an exact they prescribed me the original formula instead of the XR so I don't get the same help or effects as I did in the past when I was with my other doctor. Now I understand that since I went to a new doctor every practice wants to have their own findings but I was perfectly fine and happy with my prior doctor and everything was working great it was due to a change in medical plans etc that I had to find this doctor. FIND SOMEONE ELSE or FIGURE IT OUT ON YOUR OWN... Pros: There are some people that are on the staff that really take the time Cons: Reception Area, Dr Mech, No Listening Skills etc more

Consistently poor customer service and follow-through 9/23/2008

Service at the Mech Center in Plano, TX, is quite mediocre in terms of customer service. Doctor Mech is not reachable when a medication prescription problem arises. The staff advises they resolve all medication issues, yet do not follow through on a regular basis. Beware if you are looking for mediocre customer service or genl accountability (i.e. Doctor Mech, according to his staff [e.g. Linda] not allowing him to be reached by you ... the client. My wife knows this personally having been a client there. T. Post more
