Went to the Little Hair Shoppe this past Sunday with my groupon for a professional blow dry. I needed my hair jazzed up a bit for a wedding so Dane walked me through some options ...

So Satisfied! 10/1/2005

I have very fine, soft, ethnic hair. I have had some very disturbing outcomes with hair salons in the past. I was encouraged by Petra's knowledge base and her ability to arrest my fears and concerns. In 2.5 hours I walked out of the salon with sleekly permed, fashionably cut hair, with the color of my heart's desire. I live in Philadelphia and I travel to Manhattan to have my hair done at The Little Hair Shoppe. Pros: professional, friendly, courteous Cons: locating parking more

excellent service and skills 9/21/2005

I decided to do my own hair color and ended up with red orange hair. I did not know who to go to and decided to check out hair salons on line. I found out about Petra and called the little hair shoppe. First, they were pleasant on the phone when I booked my appointment. Second, when I got there Petra did not try to appease me, she got to the point and made several suggestions. I ended up listening to her and now I have shiny beautiful hair color. My boyfriend says I have never looked better and my friends all want to know who did my hair. All I have to say is thank you Petra for being honest and doing such a great job. Pros: inexpensive, no waiting, good hair color more

Wonderful service and incredibly attentive staff 9/19/2005

Thank God for The Little Hair Shoppe! Beau and Petra are amazing; very personable and down to earth. I was very nervous about cutting my hair and Petra was very understanding and kind. She devoted a great deal of time to me and listened intently as I told her exactly what I wanted. The haircut was amazing and completely boosted my confidence. I felt very comfortable there; no pretentiousness whatsever. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend the salon. more

The best haircut you'll ever have!!! 9/9/2005

After searching for a stylist in New York for a while, I noticed the fabulous reviews on citysearch.com for the Little Hair Shoppe and made an appointment. I went in unsure of what I wanted, I just knew I wanted to change my style...you know, into something stylish but classic, trendy but conservative enough for work. Beau, my stylist was amazing! He talked to me about styles for while to find one that fit my personality. He was friendly and fun (upfront about prices too, so there were no surprises); there was none of the awkwardness you can experience with a new stylist. I couldn't be happier with my haircut and the color is fantastic. Everyone has complimented me on my new look, from my friends to people on the street. Definitely, give this place a try. You won't regret it. Pros: Great Staff, Clean Space, Convenient Location more

Worst hair experience ever... 9/5/2005

I went to Beau for my first (and last) time in this shop. I am a pale brunette who asked for lighter highlights and a trim. He gave me orange-blond hair on top with jet black hair underneath, as well as black eyebrows. I can't even begin to describe how upsetting this was. In the end, I spent 7 hours (!) at this salon with several stylists, including Petra, trying to fix my hair. It was horrible. more

best haircut 8/31/2005

Kristen did a great job with my hair really good eye for detail. best haircut i've ever had. would definately go again. Pros: skill, service, no pressure more

No More Tears 8/26/2005

As a person with long, wavy, thick (i.e. difficult to cut and style) hair am I rarely if ever satisfied with my haircuts. People either want to cut off my longish hair to create a more ""trendy style"" which inturn makes my long face look even longer or they haphazardly cut too many layers giving me a very unattractive mushroomheadlook. However, when I sat in Petra's chair she said two things that made me know I could trust her; one was don't ever cut off your hair and two was don't ever cut too many layers in the back. After my haircut I was all smiles, when usually I leave the salon trying not to cry. As an extra bonus The Little Hair Shoppe is not only affordable, but it is also free of the pretension you find in most other NYC salons. TLHS does not disappoint! Pros: Talented, Friendly, Knowledgable more

Beau's the Best! 8/24/2005

The Little Hair Shoppe is a gem, and Beau makes it sparkle. I just got back from my first haircut there and now understand why everyone is so eager to sing its praise. I went with a vague idea of what I wanted and Beau listened and made awsome creative suggestions. He gave me the best haircut I've ever had, and even took the time to give me styling tips. He's one of those rare people who are not only extremely talented, but kind, warm and funny too. In fact the whole staff seemed cool, down-to-earth and serious about good hair. Thanks Beau and TLHS or the best salon experience of my life! Pros: talented nice staff, Inexpensive, great atmosphere Cons: none! you should go! more

Great, great, great! 8/22/2005

I just got a haircut there today. It's a great cut! Petra was extremely accommodating and friendly. The price was very reasonable, especially for Manhattan. I will definitely go back. more

What a find!! 8/20/2005

I decided to try a new place for a haircut and due to the great reviews, made an appointment with Beau. I have a very basic cut that, for some reason, people can't seem to do right. But Beau listened to what I wanted (and didn't try to foist his opinions on me), took his time and did a great job. It's one of the few times I didn't have to go home and start snipping away to make the cut ""right"". Everyone there seems so nice, which is hard to find in NYC salons. In fact, I went on a REALLY hot and humid day, so when I got there, I was about to pass out; the receptionist (who also shampooed me and gave a great head massage) was nice enough to get me some cold water right away. The prices can't be beat either. I'll definitely go back!! Pros: prices, great staff, professionalism Cons: none! more

Recommended! 8/20/2005

My best haircut was by Tracy - perfectly cut, and for someone who has the bad habit of not maintaining haircuts (maybe I go every six months?) perfect even as its grown out. Seiko does the Japanese straightening here, and gave me my most recent straightening, this past May. I have gotten my hair straightened about six times (twice a year) and this is the best treatment by far. My hair has not looked or felt better. This place is perfect. more

Great hair! 8/11/2005

Kristen gave me the best cut I've ever had in my entire life! She really pays attention to details, and puts a lot of thought into what's right for you. Highly recommended! more

Red Head Going Back To My Roots 8/3/2005

I have visited ""The Little Hair Shoppe"" a couple of times now. The first was for a cut and Kristin gave me the most perfect cut for my hair type and face shape. Super easy to maintain and very versatile. At the time, I was a redhead. I decided a month ago that I wanted to go back to my natural color. Blonde! Kristin was out of town but Petra took on the challenge. She and Beau gave me a gorgeous UNDAMAGED strawberry blonde color. I never thought that I would be able to get so close to my natural color in one treatment. I was a VERY dark red. The staff, on the whole, is accomodating, pleasant and knowledgable. All of the clients, including me, are treated like old friends, and the price is more than affordable. Kudos to this fun, hip and thriving (yay!) salon! Pros: Comfortable, Highly Skilled, Affordable more

Perfect neighborhood salon 7/18/2005

I often call shortly before I need an appt, or go in without one, and the staff are always accommodating. I've had Bo and Petra cut my hair; both are great, they listen to what their clients want and take a long time getting it right. A friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices make this place stand out among the many hair salons in the E. Village. more

GO PETRA! 7/10/2005

First, let me say that everyone who works here is wonderful. They are some of the sweetest most genuine people you will ever meet. But on to the important stuff-hair. Petra does the most amazing extensions I've ever had (and I've been wearing a weave for 10 years). I've also had a relaxer done by Petra. Normally, a relaxer (no matter how mild) is murder on my scalp, but not this time. My hair is silky straight and my scalp has no battle wounds to show for it. I have received a ton of compliments on my hair, which everyone thinks is mine. Bottom line, if you want attentive professionals with personality and prices that are ridiculously low (not just by New York standards, but by any standards) this is the place for you. Pros: Inexpensive, Quick Service, Attentive more

Saved Me 7/10/2005

After cutting my own bangs and ending up with a very ugly mullet, I was rushed the next day to The Little Hair Shoppe where Petra managed to not only salvage my hair but had me leave with a really cute new wash and wear style. This is my new salon! Pros: inexpensive, freindly, relaxed more

Hair Goddess 6/21/2005

I've been trying to grow out my hair for several months, which always ends with me, a pair of scissors, 3AM and a rather odd, very short head of hair. Kristen at The Little Hair Shoppe is amazing. Not only have I not touched my hair after she cut it, I'm actually looking forward to it getting long, just to see what she'll do with it. Everyone is so friendly, and the place is just so cute and warm. The student discount is awesome also. Pros: Friendly, Knowledgeable, Value Cons: None! more

A total hair makeover! 6/6/2005

I went TLHS today, and I have to say that this has been the BEST haircut and color that I have ever had in my entire life! After having two babies, I was ready for a new look. I knew that I wanted an easy, but bold cut and color, but I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for. Bo was a great listener, and had some great suggestions that got me excited. When he was done, I could not believe how COOL my hair looked! It was better than I could of ever imagined. My husband and friends were waiting for me at home to see my new look, and they were floored! It was a night of non-stop compliments. I really felt like I was on some makeover show or something. Anyway, thank you guys for making me look and feel beautiful again! I love my hair! Pros: awesome staff, great atmosphere, best cut AND color! more
