Best

Have always enjoyed my visits to this restaurant. Definitely THE tribeca neighborhood must-eat! Pros: Great food and ambiance Cons: none i can think of

Worst

I sure was suprised to see no vegetarian entrees on the menu-- not a problem one often has in NYC. The french fries were too salty. Diners are allowed to put their own ketchup on ...

Treat yourself! 12/9/2002

This is a great place for a romantic date with someone special. We were seated promptly, given great service by our waitress & a wonderful meal. Yes, it was expensive but its worth treating yourself to a place like this. If you are looking for a nice date place - I would say bring your special other here & you won't be disappointed. Pros: Romantic, Wonderful Meal, Great Ambience Cons: Expensive more

Definitely NOT worth it! 12/4/2002

My boyfriend and I dine out very frequently at nice restaurants in the City, and I probably took it for granted until having an experience like we did at the Harrison. We were seated promptly, but that was about the only plus. We ordered a bottle of wine, which they did not present to us, brought to the table already opened, and did not pour a taste before filling our glasses. My entree was room temperature at best, even after waiting about 1/2 hour between the appetizer and main course. Service was ABYSMALLY slow, and after our waitress was NOWHERE to be found, we spotted her sitting and talking with a group of friends. On two occassions we had to flag people down to ask for service. After noting our unpleasant experience, dessert was on the house -- but by that time it was too late!! Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: slow service, mediocre food more

late nite disappointment 12/4/2002

stopped by the harrison for a late evening dinner. the restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated giving off a warm and inviting feeling. the quality of food was excellent. i highly recommend the diver scallops and sweet bread to start. however, what was lacking was the service. they screwed up our drink order (we ordered a bottle of wine and they brought out 2 glasses instead). the entres took 45 minutes to come out even though the place was empty. finally, we had to ask several times for our dishes to be cleared so we could order desert. after waiting 15 minutes for desert menus i finally had to go to the maitre'd and ask for menus...again. unfortunately the poor service ruined what would have been an enjoyable evening of food and drink. Pros: food, decor Cons: service, service, service more

my favorite 11/19/2002

Harrison is my favorite restauant in 2002. It's a beautifully-designed space: comfortable, well-lit and you can actually hear your companions talk during the meal. The menu is interesting, the food is delicious, and a good value for the money. more

A Tribeca Hit 11/18/2002

I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary and it was extremely romantic. The restaurant is designed beautifully with dark wood and white walls. The service and the quality of the food was top notch. I highly recommend it. Pros: beautiful atmosphere, great food more

just go! 11/7/2002

I just love to go downtown for dinner and The Harrison has become an instant favorite. Start by enjoying the atmosphere while having a glass of wine at the bar and we you are ready, go and enjoy your food! but don't forget to make reservations... Pros: nice wine list Cons: Need reservation more

good mid-week dinner sopt 10/16/2002

I enjoyed my meal at The Harrison. The service was a little slow, but it wasn't horrible. The atmosphere is lovely, but the clientele are very casual. I saw more khaki pants than should be humanly allowed. It was a great mid-week dinner spot and my meat was cooked beautifully. more

Up and Comer 10/15/2002

Although a relatively new restaurant, The Harrison is off to a great start. The atmosphere is very cool and comfortable and the food is terrific. My wife and I had dinner here after catching an early movie and absolutely loved it. We'll definitely come back for more... Pros: Great Food, Great Ambiance Cons: A bit expensive more

Great Food, Terrible Service 10/15/2002

This restaurant had come highly recommended and we decided to try it. The food was great, lot's of fish on the menu, but the service was virtually non-existent. I think our waiter must have been pre-occupied with something other than his job. I would not go back to the Harrison as there are too many other restaurants in NYC that can provide great food and great service. Pros: Good food Cons: Loud, Limited menu, Hard to find more

holy fresh fish! 10/11/2002

had a date here last night, and wow. that's all i can say. a perfect fall restaurant. warm and glowy and full of good vibes, great service, and unbelievable food. try the cavatelli and bacon appetizer...monk fish and minestrone entree and the bananna almond tart for dessert. i will definitly be back. mouthwateringly perfect. Pros: parking Cons: close quarters more

honest opinion 10/7/2002

I recommend The Harrison to anyone who can appreciate a very well put together meal - it is gourmet in its proportions and prescence as well as in its taste. The only complaint was from my dinner partner who claimed he was too hungry to eat at a place like this because he felt he could have eaten 3 entrees - i was perfectly full which is the point of a gourmet meal. Also there was a German white wine that was the best white ive had in a long time - it wasnt insanely expensive and started with a ""g"" - just a suggestion. The decor is a little plain and the seating is a touch too close but its worth it for the food. more

MUSHROOM RISOTTO 10/7/2002

what a great experience. starting with the appetizers to dessert. s/l ravioli, diver scallops (only 2 in dish should be 4), cavatelli all great. monkfish, whitefish, lamb shank(delectable just falls of the bone). Surprise the MUSHROOM RISOTTO as a side, what amazing flavor. The wine Roagna Barbaresca fantastic. Dessert the napoleon, the chocolate mousse, the banana tart, I would not have changed a thing. Ask for the table by the door. The short waiter with the glasses (sorry,I forgot his name) was one of the best I have ever experienced. YOU MUST GET TO THE HARRISON. Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, LOCATION Cons: TOO LOUD more

Very Good 10/3/2002

We went to the Harrison on the at the recommendation of the bell hop at the Marriott Financial Center. I thought the atmosphere was great for many occasions. The service we got from our waiter and staff was great. His wine recommendations were right on point. The wine list was very nice. The food was excellent. more

Pros: Simple menu, Desserts, Atmosphere more

A Tribeca Gem! 9/10/2002

I went with my family for a special occasion and every course was absolutely delicious and so fresh! Everyone ordered different things of the menu from chicken to seafood and it was all cooked to excellence. Great atmosphere, great service and an overall amazing eating experience! more

So comfortable 9/9/2002

If you don't get the fried clams you may have missed the whole point. Excellent from start to finish. Looking forward to going back. more

A little paradise in Tibeca 9/9/2002

Superb dining, stellar food, friendly service, great wine and cocktails all without the attitude or the price. This place is great! Even a jaded NYC restaurant addict like myself can be surprised once in a while. Try for yourself and I think I will find you at the bar there again . . . more

Perfect Evening 7/31/2002

It's been a long time since I've been blown away at a restaurant. In the past I had owned several on the upper west side. I'm glad to be away from it. Way to much work and it's very hard to get all your ducks in order to produce what the Harrison has done, and done it right after Sept 11th and in Tribeca as well. The food is magnificent and the service was attentive and professional. I've been back several times with friends anad feel like I'm one of the investors. I'm Not. Wish I was. This is the most happening restaurant in the city right now and for good reason. Pros: great food, beautiful rooms, Excellent service more

Great 7/20/2002

Great restaurant. Great service, excellent food. Have the halibut. Worth a visit! Pros: food, service more

Good, not Great 7/1/2002

I had heard a lot about this place and was excited to finally try it. We could only get ane early 6:00 reservation for Sat. night despite requests to mkae it later, and when we arrived there was no one there. Not until about 9:00 did the tables around us begin to fill (so why couldn't they let us reserve something later??). Menu was surprisingly limited with lots of fish and chicken and little else. I had the monkfish which was good, not great. On a positive note, our chocolate dessert was delightful and service very friendly. more
