Great atmosphere, laid back fun 2/4/2011

My buddies and I came across this place when our first choice was too overcrowded. Glad we did! We had a great time! It was a lot of fun. A great mix of people of all walks of life. Great low-key music from a DJ (who actually used vinyl records!!). Beer and drink prices were very reasonable. Can't wait to return when it's warmer so we can enjoy the outside deck area. more

Take a Chance.... 9/11/2010

This little bar was so much fun! I loved the deck! The food was so good and the remodel looks great! The staff was friendly and fun! Take a chance on this one! It could be your new favorite place to play! more

Nice Place 11/20/2008

Ive been in a few times and really like the NO DRAMA atmosphere. Everybody is very nice and a drink is easy to get. Definitly an older crowd for regulars so you dont have to worry about the thug's and punks causing problems with their liquid muscles. Seems like they have done a lot of remodeling and now there is an outside area also. They have a blind draw dart game every Fri. night at seven that anyone can come and play. I had a great time learning the game and playing. Great place to relax and escape the drama of a "club". Pros: People, Service Cons: smokey sometimes more

they are going to eat us 2/3/2006

In reading the description of Rose's Jimax Lounge I was very excited to check it out. I love hole in the wall bars, but you would have to cut me up and serve me as a sloppy joe in order to get me back in the door. I have never been treated so horrible in my life. As our small group of friends walked in the door, we were informed rather loudly that, "hey this is a private club." Our response okay. then the regulars asked us if we were cops. The atmosphere was so hostile that we left without buying a membership. So if you have read the review of Rose's don't believe it. The basic message we recieved was, " Your not welcome here." Pros: none Cons: everything more

Editorial
  • The Scene
A former watering hole for the railroads, this out-of-way private club in the industrial no-man's-land of Beck Street is a real diamond in the rough. Jimax provides classic no-messin-around bar atmosphere with its high ceiling, wood paneling and slow ceiling fans. A pool table, half a dozen dartboards, Golden Tee and a big screen TV are provided for late-night barroom Olympics.

    The Crowd
The crowd's friendly, the drinks are cheap, and the good tunes are kept low enough that you can hear who you're talking to. A tight crowd of regulars hangs around the bar but there are plenty of tables and a semi-private nook in one corner. Don't be put off by the location, Jimax offers a friendly welcome to anyone who happens to wander in thirsty.

    The Verdict
Put this friendly, off-the-beaten-path watering hole on your to-do list.
