Best

keep up the good work!

Worst

This is possibly the worse sushi restaurant in Dallas. The food is good enough, but the service is straight out of a small family owned Vietnamese restaurant where they only have ...

Tied for best sushi 3/27/2008

This place, in my opinion, is tied with Tei Tei for the best sushi in Dallas. It's food is siimply GREAT, service is pretty damn good. Pros: NO STUCK UP SNOBS more

YUMMY!! 1/22/2008

After reading the review in the Dallas Morning News, I had to try it out for myself. Hidden away in the new development of West Village, I was pleasantly surprised. I've dined at Nobu, Steel, and the other high end sushi bars and The Fish ranks up there with the others. One advantage for The Fish is that their price points are lower than the other sushi establishments. We had the appetizers that were in the Morning News and some specialty rolls. The Shoi roll was AMAZING!!! Aside from being in difficult location, The Fish will be a staple for Dallas. Try it out!! more

Best Sushi Chefs Ever!!! 1/22/2008

Dined at The Fish the other weekend and had a great time at the sushi bar. The sushi chef were really helpful with my order. Towards the end, I just let them order the food for me and they made sushi experience fabulous. They even prepared sushi that wasn't even on the menu. Next time I'll just have the chef prepare everything without a menu. If you want a great meal, EAT AT THE SUSHI BAR!!! Pros: Everything and of course the Sushi Bar more

Average at best is an understatement. 1/17/2008

To be frank, I would be upset to be the owner of the restaurant and if I were the owner I would definitely do some closet cleaning from the service to management. My glass was cracked and the GM looked at me and simply said ""It happens."" I felt disillusioned by how cold he was towards the situation. The hot food took a lengthy amount of time and the sushi took even longer. To top that off it was all average. The Fish is beautifully designed but unfortunately a waste because the food and management failed to compliment it. The service was acceptable. Though she wasn't as knowledgeable as a server should be in this type of establishment, she was humble, kind, and sincere. I cannot reiterate how rude and ignorant the GM, who apparently is the only manager in the restaurant, was. Not only was he cold to my group and I, I overheard his verbal abuse toward our server. Nobody in any circumstance deserved to be treated or spoken to in that manner. To give this review a bit of credibility I am in fact an editor for a widely read food and wine publication in Dallas. The Fish does offer a beautiful and attractive lounge that is tended to wonderfully. The bartenders are very charismatic and most importantly make outstanding cocktails. So my advice is to enjoy The Fish for it's ambiance it can provide and for it's lounge which is perfect for an intimate and romantic rendezvous. The Fish is not a place to impress your personal V.I.P.'s however because the place lacks the ability to provide V.I.P. service. To give The Fish the benefit of the doubt I have dined with them 3 times. The first was lousy period. The second was average. The third was entertaining because of the shock value it provided on a Saturday night--watching the staff succumb to the overwhelming pressure to provide for their guests. As one might be able to assume, my unpleasant experiences motivate me to protect the public not to defame an establishment. Pros: Eye opening decor Cons: Management and food time. more

Great Food and Excellent Service 1/8/2008

I have eaten here a few times, and have always had the best service. The food is always great, served promptly, and priced about right for the area. The decor is wonderful, the atmosphere is great, and the whole experience is always great. I enjoy the tiger eye and alaskan rolls. The drinks are well pored, never weak, and I always have fun. Pros: Food, service, staff, price Cons: patio dining can be a bit windy more

The best sushi in town! 1/6/2008

Hip and sleek, this new sushi restaurant takes the traditional art of sushi to another level. It?s no wonder all of these reviews are 5 stars. It?s hip, but not too hip. Priced fair , as a sushi bar should be. The display of the freshest sushi I have ever had and so beautifully presented, you simply look at it for a minute to admire the chefs work. Located in Uptown, it?s easy to get to from anywhere. They have a private room as well, so it?s perfect for a special occasion or business meeting in the most tasteful setting. Put on a dress or come as you are and indulge in some sushi that the other restaurants in Dallas should take a few lessons from. Pros: Ambience and food presentation Cons: Located on a side street, so look for the sign. more

Nobu and Kenichi MOVE OVER! There is a new fish in town! 12/9/2007

This is the best sushi restaurant I have been to in Dallas! Only open for three months now.......it's a must try! The display of the food is amazing, the fish practically swam to my table it was so fresh and the service superb! Unlike the noisy crowds at Kenichi and the prices at Nobu, this has the perfect balance of price, presentation, seating, and variety. If you are looking for pan Asian, sushi, Japanese, Chinese ( not as healthy folks) or Thai, I highly recommend you take the healthy choice first and try The fish. It?s address is on Mckinney, but it sits on the cross street City place west. By the way they have a late crowd so if you are looking for a more subdued dinner go before 8:30. What are you waiting for? You are reading this because you wanted Sushi right? Go now :) Pros: Great layout and service! Cons: A little hard to find, it's on the cross street not Mckinney more

GREAT SUSHI IN DALLAS!!!! 9/16/2007

I've been to The Fish a few times and every time was a wonderful experience. The specialty rolls are great and the sashimi is really fresh. Try the Binnaga Tataki, or the Applewood Smoked Salmon. If you're not a big sushi fan the kitchen dishes are just as good. The Silver Cod and the Ribeye Rolls are awesome. more

FRESHEST, MOST DELICIOUS SUSHI IN DALLS!!! 9/14/2007

The Fish is excellent! The service there is superb! Perfect place for a romantic date or just a get together with a bunch of friends because the atmosphere is extravagant! Everyone should try it at least once because I know you'll want to go back! Good pricing for delicious food! Pros: Food, Location, Atmosphere, Price, Service! Cons: NO CONS!! more

Innovative sushi tastes. seductive setting. 9/8/2007

The Fish in West Village was an appreciated breath of fresh air, a tasty and new way to satisfy my cravings for some respectable sushi. The food was so creative, fun, and delicious. The scallops that are seared to perfection and topped with a burre blanc sauce were ridiculously savory. The sashimi was probably the strength of the meal, very fresh, very beautifully presented. Super Toro is second to no one. The Aji Seto, mackerel to my understanding, was a very clean taste with a nice hint of ginger. The mackeral was my favorite; I had never had anything like it. The service is very inviting, warming, and attentive to the intangibles i.e. carrying my drink from the bar to my table. Far from a stiff vibe from the staff. Sensual atmosphere and attractive decor. The Fish is complete (except u guys need a damn sign!). Definite future for this type of place! Pros: Food, service, ambiance, valet. Cons: Signage for the place and to the restroom. more

Great Uptown Sushi 9/6/2007

I have been several times since The Fish opened in late July, and every meal has been excellent. The sushi and sashimi are very fresh and beautifully presented. The beef short ribs and steak cooked on a hot rock are also outstanding. It also has a very good wine and saki list. The restaurant decor is very sophisticated without being overly formal. more

Excellent sushi 8/25/2007

The Fish was an excellent choice for my husband and I to visit. The food was delicious (try the Cheeseburger roll or the sea bass) and the service was great-- they were professional but not stuffy or stuck-up. My only complaint- the restaurant is hard to find, it's in the middle of West Village and there are no signs (at least not when I was there)!!! Prices were a little steep, but competitive with the other upscale sushi joints around (Steel & Kenichi are even pricier)... Also, the bar scene is pretty and pretty nice on the weekends. Pros: Amazing food, friendly staff, beautiful location & interior Cons: Hard to find! A little pricy for those on a budget... but it's worth it more
