The Firehouse Restaurant

This is a nice elegant restaurant in old Sacramento. It's a very old building but it adds to its charm. They have a terrace where you can eat (weather permitting), a basement with 2 rooms( If I remember correctly)where you can rent for a private party or close to their huge fireplace when the weather is cold. Prices are high but this is more of an upscale restaurant in my opinion. Nice place to impress your in-laws. The few times I've eaten there, the meals were delicious and plated nicely. They also have a nice selection of wines. This is a nice place for a romantic dinner or to have a special occasion (wedding, baptism, ect). more

This restaurant is truly an elegant dining experience. The building is a restored 1850’s fire station; on the inside the renovations put into this establishment is just amazing. This restaurant is almost “mansion like” from its vaulted ceilings to the fireplace and fresh flowers on every table. On the outside there is even a courtyard which offers a different dining experience. The menu features Lavender Salmon, seared crab cakes and many others as well. This is a nice restaurant with a good variety of food. If you’re looking for the best of the best look no further, this is one experience you will never forget. more

Our Firehouse experience was for their New Year's special, so it was not the typical experience there. It was a 7 course meal and was $99 a person, not counting drinks or tip. I have to say it was a great experience, worth it to do it once, but I don't think we'll be repeating it anytime soon. The staff was very attentive, almost too attentive, as we felt we were being watched throughout the whole meal. My seat was facing the wait staff area, which made it seem worse. There were about 15 servers just there waiting for anyone from their tables to need something. Some might enjoy this type of service, but we felt it was overbearing. The food was great though and there is a beautiful area to eat outside (although we didn't get to enjoy it on a December night). more

The Firehouse is a historic site in Old Sacramento, located, as one might expect from the name, in the old fire station of Old Sacramento. The high ceilings in the place certainly give the impression of spaciousness, but it is really a crowded, noisy little restaurant. The food is on the average side of sit down dining, and the prices, while not expensive, are not what I would want to pay for a meal of that quality. Overall a trendy place to go, and convenient after a day of shopping, but I would avoid this for anything other than as a curiosity. more
