The Field Museum 8/21/2005

The Field Museum is a museum of natural history. Its exhibits mostly consists of dinosaurs, fossils, and other extinct species. There is even a T-Rex on display. There is also an area that contains fossils under sand, and exhibitors can dig for them. The Field Museum is located next to other museums in Chicago, and is next to Lake Michigan. That allows you to roam elsewhere after seeing the Field Museum. more

Exhibits Galore! 8/20/2005

I end up visiting this place at least once a year. There’s always something new to see, and all the old stuff is still fun to look at. You won’t miss her, but make sure to see Sue, the largest in tact t-rex. There are plenty of other must see exhibits there, depending on your tastes. It’s just fun browsing and finding out new things. more

Fascinating Exhibits on Museum Campus 8/18/2005

The Field Museum never gets old, whether you're searching out the Egyptian mummies or the stuffed animals or the Native American exhibits. It's a museum that works hard at bringing to the city popular exhibits that educate at the same time. Excellent gift shop and dining at the Corner Bakery inside the museum make it even better. Give yourself plenty of time to wander, you will need it. more

Always something New to Learn or Relearn 8/16/2005

I always find the Field Museum enjoyable because there are so many things to look at. You're bound to learn something new each time you go. It's a great place to bring kids if they're the curious type. As a child, I remember being excited to see the Egyptian exhibit because they have a reproduction of a pyramid and you can imagine what it is like to go to a real one. As an adult, it's not as impressive. The rock and mineral collection is beautiful, and worth looking at if you like earth sciences. They do have 'Sue', the famous most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex, and they have changing exhibits throughout the year. more

So much more than Sue-FIELD MUSEUM 8/9/2005

The largest tyrannasaurus Rex is at the Field Musuem and her name is Sue. Her head is so heavy they couldn't put in on the skeleton for display (the one on there is just a mold), but it is displayed for you to take a close look at. But there is a lot more there to see, check the webpage to see if they have free days. Great for people of all ages. more

As an educational institution the Field Museum offers multiple opportunities for both informal and more structured public learning. Exhibits remain the primary means of informal education, but throughout its history the Museum has supplemented this approach with innovative educational programs. Since its founding the Field Museum has been an international leader in evolutionary biology and paleontology, and archaeology and ethnography, and has long maintained close links, including joint teaching, students, seminars, with local universities - particularly the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Chicago. Great place to take the kids to learn many interesting things and have fun doing so. Also great for adults. more

Great Natural History Museum 8/8/2005

The Field Musuem is located at the Museum Campus in Chicago. It is home of Sue the T-Rex skeleton. This musuem exhibits the cultures of different civilizations, dinosaurs, insects, and mammals. I especially like their egyptian exhibit where they have visitors walk through a simulated pyramid which includes the hidden chambers. This is a great museum to take the kids to also. There are lots of learning programs that go on here through schools, and lots of volunteer opportunities as well. more

One of the best in the world 8/1/2005

Fields museum in Chicago is one of the best museums- with many permanent exhibitions - very interesting- and many interesting temporary exhibitions several times a year. Chances are that even if you went to see it couple of times, there is still something interesting to discover. You will need at least a whole day - so it is nice that actually you can have lunch on-site. (Corner Bakery is my favorite)- or you can pack a snack and stay at the tables at the food court. nice and interesting way to spend a day. more

Top Notch 7/22/2005

The Field Museum of Chicago is really one of the top Museums in the midwest. There is just so much to see here. The exhibits are constantly changing. The quality of the exhibits are next to none. With so much to see, it could take days to see it all. One of my favorite places to stop at in Chicago. Along with the exhibits, there are a few places to eat here. more

Free Day at Museum 7/19/2005

I love the field museum. It's a super place to go to with your friends and family. They have beautiful displays both visual and interactive and the guides are wonderful. It's educational and fun. It's also free on Tuesdays. The kids will really enjoy the dinosaur and mummy exhibitions. Great place do go during the summer. You can take a walk around the downtown area. more

Field Museum of Chicago 6/30/2005

The Field Museum is a good place to bring the kids on a rainy day. It is moderately priced and FULL of things to see. I think it is better for older children and a bit boring for the stroller/preschool set as they are not allowed to touch much. My son loves the Sue the dinosaur exhibit and we hope that she will remain at the Field Museum for years to come. Sue is the most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found and an impressive exhibit. I think the rooms and rooms of stuffed animals are a bit much for the kids. My kids always express sympathy for the dead/stufffed animals more than they enjoy how close they can get to seeing them. The Field Museum has a few "free" days a year and we do try to take advantage of those when we can. But, it is worth the entrance price and we usually go whenever we like. more

Great Museum 6/24/2005

This is a really great learning experience and it is a lot of fun as well. They have so many different displays ranging from american history to science. Both kids and adults alike can enjoy this place. Make sure you call in advance or check their website for any special displays they may be having. Addmission is usually pretty reasonable and on certian days they even have free addmission! more

Fun for kids, a little tired for adults 5/23/2005

The Field Museum is part of Chicago's great complex of museums and public parks. It's an old, traditional building that is well maintained. We went explicitly for the Design Innovations in Manufactured Housing exhibit. It was very small and disappointing. The gem exhibit is fun, but small and the room is very dark. The balance of the stuff we looked at were stuffed animals, many of which were faded and out of place looking in today's techy world. more
