I loved the concept of the bridal garden - getting a beautiful dress at a nice discount and helping a great cause all sounded hard to beat! My mother and I were very disappointed when we went. The dresses I tried on were all in terrible shape, most had obvious stains, and the trains on all the dresses were filthy as if they'd be dragged around quite a bit. I'm glad to hear others found dream gowns there, I certainly didn't see anything that was in good enough shape to consider buying, designer label or not. The prices were quite low, the staff friendly, the ambiance pretty basic. more

Best place to buy a wedding dress 7/7/2010

I would very highly recommend The Bridal garden to NY brides. I loved the fact that it is a not-for-profit bridal boutique whose proceeds are donated to children, so I decided to give it a shot - I was not only thrilled by this concept, but I also found the most beautiful designer dress! There was a fabulous selection the day that I went, and the staff there was very helpful, and not pushy at all. It is a little bit small, but they don't have too many appointments at once so you don't feel like it is overcrowded. The atmosphere is relaxed - perfect to find your wedding dress!! Pros: Great selection, wonderful attitude, proceeds go to charity! more

Love the concept and the dress! 2/1/2010

Weddings should be about love, commitment and in a sense, community. So I guess it was natural that the commercialism of it all sometimes left me feeling less than romantic. I tried to continually remind myself to focus on the important things, and the Bridal Garden was a great way to do that. I got an unbelievably gorgeous dress by a dreamy designer and was able to give back to the community at the same time. Granted, you won't get the champagne welcome and your mother won't get to perch on a fancy leather sofa as she watches you emerge with gown options, but if you have good dress karma on the day you visit, you'll get an amazing gown for an amazing price and do something good for kids in the city. Gina was knowledgeable, helpful and had a great sense of humor. She's spent many years in this industry and knows her stuff -- take advantage of it! I also appreciated the owners/directors coming out to meet me. I couldn't be happier with my experience here, or the dress! more

Love it! Great prices! 1/3/2010

I love this place. I've been to several bridal places and I haven't gotten a chance to look through this many dresses on my own. I ended up finding several I loved at a great price. Personally I don't like the attendants fussing over me and the princess treatment so I liked the low key atmosphere. The people who worked there were very helpful when I had a question but generally it was a self service place (which as I said I liked) Also the money you spend goes to charity so win-win. Pros: Great prices, good selection, can pick your own dresses Cons: a little crowded more

Happy Bride 8/22/2009

I found the Bridal Garden though this website and decided to go based on the glowing reviews I read. I was not disappointed. The selection of gowns completely blew me away. I am priced out of high end gowns, but I was able to purchase a stunning Ulla Maija gown. This gown makes all others I tried on look cheap and tacky. Every layer and underskirt is made from various silks. Top layer is beaded and sequined Chantilly lace. This is something I never would have been able to wear had it not been for the Bridal Garden. Initally I could not afford the gown, but when I told Gina my budget, she was able to meet it. Going anywhere else is a waste of time. These women are very helpful and friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy dressing brides to be. Pros: Gorgeous Designer gowns for fraction of price more

Found the perfect dress here 6/24/2009

The first dress I found was my wedding dress. It was perfect and what was even better was that the price was about 75% less than the retail price. Gina was really helpful and their seamstress Julie altered my dress perfectly. Highly recommend giving Bridal Garden a look before you pay way too much money somewhere else. more

Hidden gem! 5/5/2009

I had been to higher end salons, lower end salons, and DIY warehouses... I had even bought a dress already, but didn't really love it. I started searching for sample sales and other off-the-rack options as my wedding day is closing in. What a relief to find the Bridal Garden. While the selection isn't HUGE, it is definitely manageable for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the plethora of options out there. The quality of the gowns were mostly excellent with a few donations that may have been in a showroom for a while, or worn by a bride that had a ton of fun on her day! I saw so many beautiful options, and when I brought my mom back we knew that this dress would look amazing on our wedding day! The prices cannot be beaten, and I love that my money will be going to charity. It brings the whole focus of the wedding back to where it should be, not on the consumerism. I am so happy that I found this gem, and I wish that they sold evening dresses so that I could keep going back to support their cause! I will definitely recommend this place to everyne! Pros: Corinne! So patient, helpful, and honest! Cons: Can get crowded- go earlier in the day if possible. more

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE 4/29/2009

I AM NOT YOUR TYPICAL BRIDE. I had no idea what I wanted but luckily I stumbled upon The Bridal Garden. With 2 friends accompanying me, the selection at the bridal garden and Gina's help- I found a stunning KARL LAGERFELD dress. Need I say more? Pros: Gina is fantastic and the selection is vast more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!! 4/15/2009

This bridal shop has an amazing selection of gowns that are high quality, designers, clean, and beautifully kept. Corrine is helpful, playful and really knowledgeable! This is no ordinary bridal shop- they have such an amazing selection of designer donated and previous bride donations. Plus you get to feel good about the proceeds going to nyc education! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Pros: Corrine and the selection more

Brides looking to share the love! 3/20/2009

I had just come from an overpriced, overdone, bridal shop which I will not name, but you've probably seen it on TV - and walking into the Bridal Garden was a breath of fresh air. I found tons of great dresses at unbelievably low prices. Yes, I had to do a little work myself (what bride doesn't!), but the dresses were thoughtfully organized and the women working were so sweet. My dress was a steal!! and it's great to know I've made a contribution to a more than deserving cause. It's all about the love, right ladies? that's what Bridal Garden is circulating & thank you for all you do!"" Pros: your purchase goes to charity; lots of dresses Cons: I think they're not open on Tuesdays? more

Great dresses, amazing deal 3/15/2009

I went dress shopping with my girlfriend who is getting married. The Bridal Garden was stop 4 in a weekend. We saw more interesting and diverse dresses amongst the Bridal Garden selection than we had seen anywhere else (including Kleinfeld's - where it seemed that things were very cookie-cutter and entirely strapless). The people were wonderfully sweet and as a bonus, all proceeds to charity!! Pros: Wide, interesting selection and great assistance Cons: Can't think of any more

Great place- fantastic staff! 12/23/2008

This was a fantastic place to shop for gowns! It was a low-pressure environment, the staff was flexible and relaxed and did not put any pressure on you to buy anything that minute. In fact, the saleswoman even stayed a little late so I could try on my top 2 dresses. Love the fact that all proceeds go to a charity! I would recommend this place to anyone who has an open mind when looking for a wedding dress; if you have something extremely specific in mind, you may be better off going to a different store as their inventory changes day-to-day. I think I tried on almost every dress in the store and never got a look or complaint from the staff. I didn't find a dress there on my first try, but will go back and try again until I find ""the one!"" Pros: relaxed atmosphere, reduced prices of the dresses, the staff Cons: dim lighting, some dresses are used and in need of some TLC more

Beautiful Gowns + Charitable Cause = No Brainer. 11/30/2008

This was my first experience trying on wedding dresses, and to say that I was overwhelmed going in would be a serious understatement. I had no idea what I was looking for - color, style, etc. - and was completely intimidated by the process of finding the ""perfect"" gown. Pros: Fantastic gowns, fantastic prices, helpful staff Cons: Selection is smaller for size 10 and above more

You can get a Designer's Wedding Gowns for a Fraction of what they cost! 11/6/2008

Whoa! why i didn't know about this place before??? Pros: You pay and get exactly what for wha you want and you get honest comments on what you are trying on. Cons: You have to pay for parking :( more

.. and for a good cause, why not? 11/4/2008

There's no white glove service nor champaign .... but if you're looking for a good deal, this is should be one of your stops. Dresses range from casual to princess. Some never worn, some gently used. With a bit of patience and endurance, you'll likely walk out with something. They also sell veils and accessories. Did I mention proceeds go to NYC children's ed? That's just the icing on the cake. Pros: Discounted prices Cons: Casual atmosphere, crowded space more

love the place.... why do people expect the world though? 10/6/2008

I have just purchased my wedding dress at Bridal Garden. I did NOT have a budget, wanted something unique. I have been to high-end salons as well as the most popular one in the city... Pros: Unique, CHARITY, no pushy salespeople. Cons: Not every body-type can be satisfied. more

So Glad We Went! 9/21/2008

The Bridal Garden should open all over the country because EVERY bride with ANY taste deserves the service, selection, and genuine feel that the Bridal Garden in NYC offers every client. They were so helpful. All dresses are organized by straps or strapless, as well as by size. The dressing rooms are spacious and they have giant mirrors so you can really see how you look. They sell all headpieces, etc, and best of all - the woman who works there is a seamstress (NOT a ""nagging salesman"" at all) and, therefore, she is SO helpful because you can really chat about all the possibilities of what you can do with the dresses! For example, she told me I can make the top into a sweetheart or even add lace. AMAZING for anyone on a budget, as all gowns are around 50+% off!!! It's so nice to feel like with all these wedding expenses, at least one expense will go towards a great charity. Thank you Bridal Garden! more

What could be better than finding your dream wedding dress in less than an hour and sipping mimosas by noon? 8/18/2008

Gina is fantastic! She's funny and friendly, and she's a straight shooter! I was lucky enough to have family there with me, but if any brides out there are shopping for a gown on your own, you can rest assured that you'll get an honest opinion from Gina--no upselling here, and no BS. How refreshing! Pros: great service, amazing prices more

Corinne is the BEST!!! 7/23/2008

My sister and a girl friend came with me to the shop and we had the best time. Corinne got me in and out of the dresses quickly, even when she was helping 2-3 other brides in the store. Personally, I thought the amount of attention was just right. My sister, my friend and I could look as much as we wanted and weren't limited to how many dresses I could pick, and at the same time there wasn't someone breathing down our necks to make us anxious and tense and pressure us to buy anything. I tried on about 15 dresses, 4 of which were BEAUTIFUL Vera Wang dresses. I narrowed it down to 2 favorites (Vera Wang). Being that these are mostly sample dresses, my picks fit perfectly up top (most of the dresses are smalls), but a lot of the beading needed to be fixed and other parts of the dresses needed to be altered. Corinne knew exactly how to fix the missing beading and rips and tears. I was THIS close to putting down a deposit, but unfortunately they were still out of my price range. more
