The BookMark

Compared to big book store chains, I have to say the amount of personal customer service you get at the Bookmark is rare and nice to experience. The book readings are very popular and fun to attend with many well known names on the agenda. I have always received quality customer service . At one book reading where I attended with friends and their children, the owner graciously took by books to be signed and picked up later since children don't have the patience to stand still in a line. That is quality service!!! more

As a lover of books, I feel so fortunate to live in a community that has a world class book store like The BookMark. Not only do we get to hear best-selling authors thanks to Rona(Pat Conroy, James Rollins and David Baldacci to name just a few), but she is also recognized as one of the leading independent booksellers by NPR, which interviews her twice a year, for her summer and holiday picks. \r \r As far as customer service, The Bookmark could not be more welcoming. If they don't have a book, they'll order it; if you only have a description but no title, they'll find it and they make great recommendations based on past reading favorites. 18 months ago we added a baby to our family, and he has attended book readings since he was born. Rona and Buford have always welcomed Jack, even offering to host his next birthday party! And now that Jack is at an age where sitting and listening is not his strong point, Buford installed an outdoor speaker system, with seating! We are truly fortun more

By all accounts this seems to be a nice book store. I remember buying a few things from them in their old location and never had any problems. However, earlier this morning I went in to inquire about any possible job openings and was treated disgustingly. I was asked to wait until the owner, Rhona, was off the phone to ask her myself. Not only did she not reciprocate my introduction she also refused to shake my hand. Instead placing her left hand on mine and lowering it. This alone made me feel embarrassed and unwelcome in her store. But as if that weren't enough she then proceeded to belittle me in front of her staff and customers. She asked what kind of job I was looking for. A little confused by this, as it's a very small store, I answered "something along the lines of stocking shelves or working the cash register..." Land Mark has as many good book readings as some book stores in real cities. Thumbs Up. The folks that work there are friendly, and if they don't have it, they'll get it for you. more

Of course you can always go to a large nationally owned bookstore but this local, family owned bookstore is the place to go for friendly and personalized service. They have a wide selection of titles and they can do special orders. The do complimentary gift wrapping and even have a mailing service. They also get well known authors for book signings. more
