This place is convenient and has an excellent selection of products. Their return policy is great in theory, but having to deal with rude service people when you return something...

SO NICE! 3/31/2010

this was the first time i had ever been to this store, but it definitely will not be the last. the people there were SO helpful that i felt guilty walking out of the store without making a purchase. I went in looking for something specific after being told by my hair dresser i could find it there, and when they told me they did not have it, let alone had never heard of it, i was pretty down, then one stylist looked it up online for me while another called their store supplier and gave me a list of salons that carried what i wanted and which one was the closest to their store! i will go back whenever i need to buy product for sure! Pros: Extremely nice and helpful Cons: did not have the product i was looking for more

Fabulous Cut - GREAT PRODUCTS 5/4/2009

First of all, I didn't even know this place existed until I searched out Christina Crawford on a friend's recommendation. This little store is tucked away by Central Market. VERY CUTE LITTLE STORE! Everyone way really friendly while I waited for my appointment. I have had such a hard time finding a good stylist, but I am finally thrilled with my hair. You can tell she really loves what she does. After my appointment, someone who worked in the retail section helped me find a new shampoo and conditioner. I was looking at Pureology (oh, how I love it.... but the price tag is just too high right now), but a dark-haired girl there helped me find something on sale. She recommended the Halo, which I do like and it was a quarter of the cost. Then she gave me lots of samples and an orange card so I can earn free stuff. I loved my first experience at this little store and will be going back to do some shopping soon. Pros: Christina and staff is GREAT, good sales Cons: hidden location more

stay away! 4/30/2009

I had an overall bad experience with this place. The staff are not very friendly or helpful. Terrible customer service. Then, the lady who cut my hair, rushed through, did a terrible job, and then charged me $65! I mentioned to her that it didn't look right and she blamed it on my hairline and then said I should take a few days to get used to it. I've had the same hairline my whole life, and it's looked good with past haircuts, so I don't think it was my hairline. I felt like she was just making excuses and seemed in a real hurry to get me out of there. She also didn't speak English very well, so it was very difficult to communicate with her. The next day I asked some friends to look at it and they all agreed that it did not look straight in the back and was not blended very well in the front. I also had to get out the scissors and cut off some strands of hair that were obviously much longer than everything else. WTF? I called the salon and spoke with the stylist. I told her I wanted my money back so that I could go someplace else to get my hair fixed. She refused. She said I could come in again and she would fix it, but I do not trust her to go near my hair with scissors ever again. I also feel that for a $65 haircut, it should look great, and I should not need to go back and get it fixed. I was very calm when speaking with her on the phone, but she got upset and accused me of harassing her because I was calling her from my cell phone which doesn't have a local area code, and she had to call me back, ""long distance."" So apparently that is harassment. Anyways, long story short, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE unless you want to pay $65 for a haircut that looks like it should have cost $20. Cons: bad haircut, terrible customer service, totally overpriced more

Best Staff - Great Selection 4/6/2009

I have done my shopping in here for a while now, and I have always been happy with The B.S.. I am always greeted (Sometimes in unison by multiple girls... It's kind of funny) and asked if I need help when I walk in. Any time I need a recommendation, the staff is always more than happy to help me. You can tell they really use the products and know what works and what does not (They recommended ALTERNA Thickening Compound for my fine hair last time.... and I love it). They seem to keep the same staff for a while, which really helps, I think. They frequently run specials like ""Buy One, Get One"" on hair products and candles. Also, they always have my Jane Iredale in stock and when I needed help finding a new color, I was given all the help I needed. They helped me find the right color and a new Make up brush for it. Last time I was in there, one girl was helping with a customer that was freaking out because her hairspray stopped spraying. She admitted to having it a while but told the girl she did not understand why they sell faulty products. The sales person fixed the hairspray for the woman, but she was not happy with this so she was given a discount on a new one. I thinks the sales staff was very nice to, what seemed to me, to be a very rude customer. The only bad things I can see about the B.S. is the way they answer the phone (you should call them... its funny), and many of the other customers seem a little high-maintenance for me. Pros: Great Specials; Very knowledgeable Staff Cons: The funny way they answer the phone. ""It's a beautiful day.. more

HORRIBLE service, great selection 10/4/2008

This place is convenient and has an excellent selection of products. Their return policy is great in theory, but having to deal with rude service people when you return something almost makes the policy not worth it. (What's the point of having this policy if you're just going to stare down the customer, act all judgmental, and act like you might not accept the return?) Every time I go in here, it seems like there are several more staff members than necessary - they're never busy - but instead of rushing to help a customer, they continue to gossip amongst themselves. When they do take the time to help you they cop an attitude as if you're greatly inconveniencing them. They're also very judgmental (""why do you want *that* ew"" is not something i expect to hear from a salesperson.) Their product recommendations are also sub-par - they don't seem very knowledgeable beyond what they themselves use. Management is rude to both the employees and the customers. Bottom line - buy things online for cheaper and forget about the return policy. Buying beauty products shouldn't leave you frustrated or upset. Pros: good selection Cons: terrible customer service, pain to return things more

TG Girls Are Welcome 7/5/2008

I recently had a wonderful session with Lauren introducing me to their mineral makeup. She spent a lot of time with me and answered all of my questions. I loved it! Pros: I was pampered just like any other woman. Cons: Some stares from other staff. more

Awesome Locally Owned Salon! 6/27/2008

The Beauty Store in Central Park is great! I get my hair cut and highlighted by Brandy Louden and she is amazing. She has been cutting my hair for about 5 years now and I will never want to see anyone else! She is very precise and cuts your hair the way you tell her to. She never cuts too much off or leaves me with anything I didn't expect. Pros: Brandy's Haircuts, Low prices, Employees that don't pressure you, Great selection Cons: Sometimes you might have a bad experience with an associate more

Rude and disrespectful management. 4/29/2008

I buy all my skin care and hair care supplies from The Beauty Store. They always have everything that I need and the customer service is usually above par. However, I went in to find a top coat for my manicure kit and I asked the manager to reccommend a product for me. She was very rude and basically ignored me completely. Then I was assisted by another associate who had never used the product and felt she should ask her supervisor. The supervisor then proceded to roll her eyes at the girl and never answered the question, just continued flipping through a magazine. I found this to be very disrespectful and unprofessional.I filed a complaint against the supervisor but, I will still buy my beauty supplies there because they have a great selection and quality products. But, I would advise future customers to go in knowing what they're after and steer clear of the snobby management or ask another associate for help. Pros: Well stocked, clean, friendly and helpful employees. Cons: Manager treated both customers and employees with disregard and disrespect. more

Good cuts, rude service 4/9/2008

The quality of the hair cut is always really good, but the service is pretty bad sometimes. I called to make an appointment for me and a friend and was shocked at how rude the person on the phone was. I've been going to the beauty store for about 7 years but will probably find somewhere else after my experience with the woman who makes appointments. more

My best hair cut & color ever 3/13/2008

I went to this salon a couple days ago and had a hair cut & color by Cristina Crawford and it is the best service I ever had. Cristina was so nice and very professional. She give me a great scalp massage & she used a hot towel with the conditioner and it felt like heaven. The price is very reasonable. Pros: Great service, nice store with lots of great stuff, stylist accepts credit cards Cons: very busy shopping center, hard to find parking space more

Love the selection... 2/6/2008

With a huge array of skincare and haircare, this is the place to go...not to mention the various accessories, frames and candles! This is the only place I know with all of these products. The sales staff is full of knowledge and they are extremely helpful. If you are scared to buy before you try, you can take samples home with you or they have a GREAT return policy. The salon/spa is awesome too. I have tried a few of the stylists and have never been disappointed, I just like the different techniques each stylist has. All in all a fabulous shop , I will continue to give them business and recommend this store to friends! Pros: Great selection Cons: Parking can be a nightmare more

Poor customer service 1/28/2008

I have to agree with the other reviews. The service was definitley unsatisfactory! Snooty workers that look at you like your interrupting them. I was uncomfortable at this store and will not return, but they do carry great products. Look else where! more

Christina is a great hair stylist 1/19/2008

after looking all over town for somebody to do my hair extensions nobody wanted to do them because the condition of my hair (I was losing my hair due to stress) I found Christina and she did an excellent job with my hair extensions she not only helped me look better but she also helped me with my self esteem. more

Poor customer service 9/7/2007

I agree--both locations (Bee Cave and South Lamar) have very lousy customer service. The clerks are downright snotty, and when one potential customer asked for a product, one of the clerks very haughtily told her that was sold in the ""grocery store"" not here. I will spend my money at Ulta, where customers are treated like royalty, like the princesses we are! more

good specials, bad service 8/31/2007

The staff here (I've only been to the S. Lamar location) are quite unfriendly and don't acknowledge their customers' presence even when we're standing right in front of them. That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine...when staff don't say hello or make eye contact with you or say anything else to you other than how much you owe them. I definitely wouldn't shop here if it weren't for the great selection of products and the awesome specials they always seem to have (such as buy a conditioner liter, get a shampoo liter free). The store is messy and I almost tripped on a few of the things that a staff member had left out on the floor. Get rid of the stuck up, better than thou attitude and you'll have more customers--it's as simple as that. Pros: value, specials always going on Cons: horrible staff, messy store more

Uninformed employees, poor customer service 7/19/2007

Employees' product knowledge is atrocious. I have been in for various hair products to try. I am a hairstylist so I like to be able to talk to my clients about different products. The sales folks do not know how the products really work. I have been given incorrect info on every single item I have ever tried. I finally gave up and will never go back. Also, the music was so loud it was hard to have a coherent thought, much less hear another person talking over the blaring noise... AND the employees were barely civil, hurried and pushy. more

Not great, but not bad 8/17/2006

The salon is tucked in the back of the beauty store so waiting for your appointment can be dangerous to your pocketbook with so many fun things to buy! There was no receptionist at the appointment desk, although there were 2 girls looking at their schedules who didn't say hello to me. I waiting a few minutes before someone acknowledged me. Sal came out for my appointment and did a nice consultation and then led me back to the shampoo area. The chairs are nice and the shampoo was great. The service was just ok. He didn't engage in much conversation, even with me asking him questions. He was nice, but not friendly. My style out looked pretty good in the store but immediately frizzed up once I got outside. Pros: fun products, nice atmosphere Cons: doesn't accept credit cards, not very friendly, hair frizzed more

Best Haircut! 4/19/2006

I went to Brandy for a haircut at the recommendation of a co-worker, and my only regret is that I never found her before. For about the same rate as what I've paid elsewhere, I get a 10 times better haircut. I have long thick hair and am very ""style-challenged,"" but Brandy helped me choose the right cut for my type of hair and lifestyle and even explained how to style it. Shes very courteous, patient and informative. I can't recommend anyone else there because she is the only one who's cut my hair, but she is absolutely the best stylist I've ever gone to. They also have a large selection of products at reasonable prices in the store which is convenient. Pros: Experienced Staff, Good Parking more

Customer Service Nightmare 9/8/2004

I have been shopping at the S. Lamar store for years for all my hair/skin care. I plan to do my shopping elsewhere. I stopped in to pick up products and the ""girls"" were too busy chatting to help me out until I asked. When they finally did help she put the wrong product in my bag...I didn't find this out until 2 weeks later; I finished my product and went to get my new product. I called and said I didn't have the receipt but I did have my bank statement and I did not open or use the product. She would not let me finish one sentence. She was so rude and hung up before I could get her name. They must not need or want my business. My business for Glomineral makeup and all haircare will now be with other stores in Austin or the internet. more

love the selection 11/4/2003

They carry the complete Sothy's line -- the only stuff that doesn't make my skin break out. And, they have wonderful selection of mineral based make-up. I think the punch card coupon system they have is a great service. Pros: variety Cons: pricey more
