Don't go after 8:30pm! 3/9/2009

Warning: If you are eating there around 8:30, expect them to be rudely vacuuming around your feet, Windexing your table and reaching over you to refill sauces. They close at 9, and I do not think it is appropriate for them to ruin meals with Windex in your face and a vacuum bumping your feet...they act as if you are inconveniencing them by eating within an hour of their closing time. This has even happened to us at 8:00 and 8:30 as well. Can't they wait?! Employees also smoke in the back room and it often wafts into the dining room. Gross! Pros: quick, yummy food Cons: employees smoking in kitchen, windexing your table and vacuuming at your feet while you are eating (after 8pm) more

one of the best get in, eat, get out places out there. the pho is always good and the service is always fast. if your looking for a fancy place this is not it. If your looking for good cheap food in a no frills environment this is the place for you. Pros: price, food, fast Cons: no frills more

Great introduction to the world of pho 8/8/2008

The perfect place for a warm, satisfying lunch or dinner on a cold winter day - or, really, almost any day! As other reviewers have said, the place is not much to look at, but looking pretty isn't their goal. Their goal is serving tasty Vietnamese pho soup, at very affordable prices and in portion sizes that are larger than anything I've ever seen! The ""small"" bowl will definitely satisfy an average eater, and there is no way you can finish the ""extra large"" unless you haven't eaten for a day. The vegetarian pho is very good, even though it may not be very authentic, and my carnivorous friends and family tell me that the meat varieties are excellent. I've heard that you can order the veggie pho, which comes with lots of mushrooms and tofu, and request meat on the side, and enjoy the best of both worlds! Oh, and the cream puffs and French-style coffee with sweet condensed milk are great! In fact, Than Brothers is one of the very few places where I order coffee. I rarely drink it now but I cannot resist the sweet and super-strong brew that they serve. If you are like me and drink your coffee at the end of your meal, ask for it to be delivered later (or simply order it later, when you're done with your pho). Otherwise, it will be barely warm by the time you get through your gigantic bowl of noodle soup, since they bring it out at the same time as the soup. Note: this review is for the Capitol Hill location Pros: Great value, many kinds of meat pho to choose from Cons: Cash only more

The best 1/25/2008

Great pho, fast service and so incredibly cheap. It's just the best place to eat on a cold weekend. It's not fancy, perhaps a little dirty even - if that's a problem, please don't complain just go somewhere else. I love this place. Pros: Excellent food, very low price, no kids! more

Yummmmm 10/2/2006

It like Grandmas house. The scenery may not be much to look at but the food ROCKS. Yummy Yummy in my Tummy Pros: Great authentic tasting Vietnamese Cons: like I said it is grandmas house, could use some style more

Veggie Pho is a Must 9/9/2006

If you've never tried Pho, you're missing out. This viatnamese fast food diner offers oversized portions of Pho, a popular noodle soup. The soup is light and crisp tasting, complete with basil leaves, bean sprouts, lime wedges and jalapanos. My fav is the veggie small for less than $5 (a Seattle steal). Be ready to order when you sit down - the service is poor but lightening fast. You pay at the counter when you are done. The restaurant itself is a little on the filthy side if you ask me, but for the price and yum factor, I can live with a little grime on the walls. I end up at Ithe Capitol Hill location just about every Saturday. Pros: Delish Pho, Huge Portions, Fast Eat Cons: Ambience, Limited Menu more

Good food, good prices 2/16/2004

The soup is very good, and served in generously sized bowls. The cream puffs are delicious. The service is almost nonexistant, but isn't really necessary. They serve you water and soup (within about five minutes of ordering, max), then pretty much leave you alone unless you flag them down. You pay at the counter. Definitely worth the price: I think $4.25 for a medium Pho Ga (chicken), which is more than I can eat. It is kind of crowded, but I've never had trouble getting a table for two. Like everywhere else in Capitol Hill, there's not much parking. Just park on a side street or take the bus. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if you're in the area check it out. Pros: Cheap, Very fast, Good food Cons: , Bad for large groups more

Best Pho in Seattle 1/17/2003

Their veggie pho comes with tofu, mushrooms and a couple of types of onions. The chicken pho is the same without the tofu and mushrooms. The broths are either beef or veggie broth. Make sure you specify which type if you don't want the wrong one. Noodles, onions (green and white), cilantro and spices are the main broth mix. You can add various types of meat (chicken, eye-round steak, beef brisket, beef flank, tripe, tendon and the veggie combonation of mushroom and tofu). I personally order a small veggie extra chicken. Be careful at times - they sometimes don't cut the chicken very well and you can get small bones). NOT a good place for children - the soups are usually TOO BIG and can't be finished by kids under 10. They should consider an EXTRA SMALL to appeal to people who bring children. Pros: Inexpensive, Best Pho in Seattle, Big Portions Cons: Service is Horrible, Dirty, Crowded more
