Editorial review from Citysearch 8/23/2012

If you drive up to this place, don't be scared away by the exterior, the interior is nice and the food is some of the best Thai in town. Their sauces are extraordinary and their is special care and time taken in the preparation of their food. Try the fried pork ribs, they are a taste sensation! more

BEST GREEN CURRY 8/25/2011

I cannot believe I just discovered this place! If you are ever off Blanco and 410 area please go here and try the green curry because it is the best. I have been to Thai restaurants all over San Antonio and theirs is delicious! The wait for my food was long, but worth it! more

1 of 2 Best Thai Places in San Antonio 9/10/2010

I can't believe i see any negative reviews on this restaurant. They all say ""bland"" and have similar prose, so I suspect its a competitor. more

Bad 9/3/2010

Can't believe the good reviews. Must be owners or employees. The food is bland and poor quality. Much better Thai food in San Antonio. more

Amazing Grace, how good is this thai! yummm :) 2/7/2010

I use to live down the street from Thai Dee for about a decade, and every time passing down their restaurant I always asked myself ""who could possibly want to eat there""? Of course, at that time I didn't even know what thai food was nor did I even care to find out what kind of food they served there, in all honesty I found that place to be repulsive! Anyway, the very first time I had Thai food was at a place called ""Thai Pikul"" because that where some friends took me for my 21st birthday, and I really liked it. I tried their pad thai and I craved it ever since, I though it was a fantastic dish... A couple of years later, I was waiting for the bus on Blanco Rd. which happened to be right outside of Thai Dee, my sister and I had to wait for the bus for at least an hour, so this was the first time I considered to acknowledged this tiny little place. Since i had loved thai food from the first time i had tasted it, I decided to finally give this place a chance. I wanted to know what it was all about. And after all, I did had an hour to spare... I walk-in and their clientele looked very ""upscale"" which caught me by a huge surprise! (in all honesty, I thought this place was going to be empty) If anything I felt a little out of place being there... and even though i was nervous, I was already there so I decided to go ahead and asked for their menu, the lady/waitress/cashier was very polite. I immediately ordered their Pad Thai, which is the dish that I had been dying for! I also recommended it for sister who is your ""typical"" teenager... who some at that age are close minded to foreign food. You know, she's used to chick fil' a, sonic and junk of the sort, but I gave her my word that she would like it. (and even though i had not tasted thai dee's yet, I knew i was taking a gamble with what I had promised her). I also took a chance on their Thai tea while we were waiting for our food. The thai tea was amazing, my sister loved it... she was pretty scared to try it at first but she wanted more of it as she kept drinking it. And than the moment of truth... our chicken pad thai...as soon as i tasted it i was in Thai Heaven, no joke. I had forgotten all about my first pad thai experience and had replaced it with this one, like being born again kinda thing (lol) It was so delicious I have not even words to describe it. And my picky eater of a sister was hooked on it too, I'm glad she liked it because I'm always trying to get her to try new dishes, but she rejects them... not this time! She finished the whole plate. And even though it was so good, and I dreamed of MORE, there wasn't enough space in my stomach for it, they really fill you up and all for a great price. When we came back outside, we realized that most of the cars parked outside were Mercedes and BMW's, and no they were not from costumers at at crappy gas station, they were all at Thai Dee! After that day, I have made that place top on my list, I've taken 2 of my friends to eat there with me, I have ordered for the delivery to eat with my brother and sister at their school, I have ordered for delivery on rainy days for my own self, sooooo amazing! And recently I had talked to my Mom about it, we haven't had a chance to go together, but I can't wait for her to try it, I'm sure she is going to love it as well. I feel kinda bad for all of those years that it has been taken for granted, I hope that it stays open for 10 more years at least, this is just the beginning for me and I want to enjoy it as much as I possibly can, thank-you Thai Dee, keep on that good work! & I guess what they say is true ""don't judge book by it's cover"" well don't be fooled by their outer appearance, their food is 100% worth it and they are very clean inside, trust me otherwise i would not even bother taking this time to write this long ;) I Pros: great price, generous portions, delicious & authentic Cons: The outside does not look appealing- don't let that stop u! more

Amazing food...the best Thai in San Antonio! 9/20/2009

The best Thai food around. Although the location and exterior don't look that great don't worry....the food inside is amazing. Each dish is presented in a beautiful manner, the prices are extremely reasonable, and the staff is friendly. There are a lot of regulars who frequent this place. I can't recommend it highly enough! Pros: Food, bring your own wine, beautiful food presentation Cons: The strip mall its in is not very nice more

I have been to thai dee twice and each time got the pah sa awee.... or somthing like that. Everything about the food was worth the drive ( i live over 25 minutes away) and the prices are great. I will continue to go whenever I get the chance. Those that don't go are seriously missing out. Pros: best thai food ever more

Love Thai Food -- but not from here 4/23/2009

I just can't believe this restaurant got all of these rave reviews. First time I ate there it was ""just okay"". I ordered the Lemongrass chicken. A little on the bland side, chicken tasted like it was boiled. Thought I might give it another go, just in case: more

Just tried this 3/27/09 3/28/2009

I tried this Thai place yesterday for dinner. I've eaten at different thai restaurants around San Antonio, and a couple in California. I started eating Thai around five years ago and have been hooked ever since. Pros: Prices are extremely competitive, better than most Cons: The area is shady, bad parking lot more

Diamond in the Rough 1/23/2009

Best Thai food in the city. Doesn't look like much from the outside (right across from Furniture for a Cause), but they've done some renovations inside and made it look surprisingly good. Nice family business-- Love the sweet woman that operates the place. Order the chicken Pad See Ew. Just the right amount of sauce, and I can't even begin to describe the flavor. The spring rolls are delicious and crispy. I am apparently starving for them right now!! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Neighborhood more

You'll think you're in a foreign country or heaven. 11/6/2008

I've traveled all around the U.S. and never before did I know such a great restaurant was located in my own town. It's the best homemade tasting, high quality, hole-in-the-wall, Thai food I've ever had. Pros: The best damn food I've ever had and will continue to have. Cons: Interesting location, and a bad parking lot- can be remedied by expansion. more

Amazing Thai Food in San Antonio, Texas 11/2/2008

By far the best Thai Food I have had in years, since my friend shut his restaurant down and moved back to Thailand. He taught me to cook with simplicity and care. Thai Dee has met my challenge of finding a restaurant that could compare to mine and my friends cooking and flavors. I have searched all over Texas and several other states. Thai Dee has opened up new hope in me that there are other restaurants I can go to and satisfy my love for Thai Food. Thai Dee actually introduced me to a new twist on one of my favorite curry dishes. Chicken Green Curry Noodles and Panang Curry Noodles, they serve the curry over noodles instead of rice. I could not get enough. I ate at 2 other San Antonio Thai restaurants and then found this one. I ate here every meal until I had to go home. The Tom Kha soups are excellent and the Curry Noodle dishes are addictive. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I did. Service is prompt and friendly. If I lived in San Antonio I would be a regular. I will miss this place. Pros: Amazing authintic Thai Food Cons: Poor parking lot, do not let this discourage your visit more

BEST and most AUTHENTIC Thai restaurant 9/1/2008

This is REAL Thai food. Not some americanized concoction that lacks the medley of aromas and flavors authentic Thai food has to offer. Having been spoiled by a Thai chef trained in Thailand who taught me that Thai food is to be served on a bed of jasmine rice and eaten with a fork and spoon, Thai Dee is the only restaurant that comes close to the thai cuisine I've sampled. Their food is full of flavor!! I had the ginger fish which was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy (you have to eat the hot peppers too:) along wih a perfect glass of Thai tea. From its intimate environment to it's excellent service, and vast selection of REAL thai cuisine (I've yet to try everything, but I will!), Thai Dee is as close to a great home cooked meal in Thailand as you can get!!!! Pros: Great food, excellent service, intimate atmosphere Cons: parking lot has potholes, not the best location more

thai first timer 8/2/2008

This is my first time posting and first time eating Thai food. The waitress was nice and recommended khee Mao from the noodle section and it was great. Spicy and tasty, I put it down like I was at a hot dog eating contest on the 4th of July. Since this is my first time I didn't have anything to compare it to but I'd still recommend it. The outside is a little shady but don't be fooled. I was on my way to eat somewhere else but turned around to give it a shot and I'm happy I did. I'll be back with my posse. Pros: food, service, price Cons: small parking area more

Thai Thai Dee 7/7/2008

Just gets better and better. Ignore the one star rating as for 1) place has been renovated 2) the guy is obviously an idiot. This is amongst the best places in town to eat. Pros: place is awesome Cons: its in a crappy strip center more

Below average food 3/29/2008

Portion size ok but food was bland and unremarkable. One flavor of each dish overpowered all other ingredients; the Pad Thai left a bitter after taste and in my chicken disk even the pineapple tasted like chicken. Service was average. Don't sit in the middle row of tables as flakes from the chipped ceiling and dirt from the filthy AC vents will fall into your food. more

Sawadee 2/27/2008

A lover of Thai food, my wife and I (especially her since she comes from a Thai family) know good Thai food. We have been to Thai Dee several times and have loved every visit. I personally love the green chicken curry, satay, spring rolls and...who am I kidding, I love everything. My wife usually has the pad thai or lad na and we have no complaints. Dont be fooled by the exterior, this restaurant offers traditional Thai hospitality and fresh food. This is a must visit. Pros: Affordable (especially for lunch), wonderful people and hospitality, great for a 1st date Cons: parking, can get kinda loud with a large crowd b/c the rest. is somewhat small... more

Best Food and Service 2/27/2007

I have been to several thai places but nothing compares to the flavor that thai dee offers...it's Delicious! more

Dee means Good. 4/14/2006

Howdy, my wife is from Thailand and this is one of the two places we go to eat Thai food. I like the basil noodles and my wife likes the Pad Thai. The crispi spring rolls are good appatizers. The recent remodeling really jazzes us the place, so don't be fooled by the location and outside appearance. Inside the service is great and the food is excellent. Enjoy! Pros: Good Food, Reasonable Price, Great Service Cons: Parking, Location, Outside area more
