Whoever thinks that Thai Village has bland food obviously did not know what to order and has no clue what real thai food tastes like. The Gai Lard Prik is the best sweet and sour...

When we got there the restaurant was not crowded. We waited an hour for our food. The waiter never came back to give us any updates. They finally brought one of our dishes out and...

Great thai 1/20/2012

I love the curries, and I like them hot! The food is excellent, the only improvement could be the atmosphere- the decor really does not speak to how great the food is here. more

Authentic Thai 4/23/2011

I hear they have made some changes recently. This was my first time here and thoroughly enjoyed my Red Curry. Just a 3 on the spice level was quite spicy for me. Food is excellent, not so much for the ambiance or service.... more

Authentic and Fresh 6/26/2007

My favorite Thai place. Sometimes the service can be h i t or m i s s - but the food never is. I have always loved every single thing I have ordered here (although they have been out of things on the menu on more than one occasion). And the lime-chili sauce is to die for! Pros: Consistent YUMMY food. Cons: Service isn't always so consistent. more

Good for the price 1/25/2007

The food is good, but I wouldn't say it's 9.4 (the current rating) good. I'd recommend if you were nearby and wanted something quick. Pros: well priced more

Left hungry and tired of waiting 11/10/2006

When we got there the restaurant was not crowded. We waited an hour for our food. The waiter never came back to give us any updates. They finally brought one of our dishes out and said the other was not ready and we walked out. Will never go back. more

Good quality, bad quantity 7/21/2006

I would have to say that the food tastes great. However, the owner does not like to serve a lot of food so you will leave hungry. For the price, the portions are not generous at all. When I go there with a friend, we have to order three dishes and it ends up being around $15 per person. Pros: good food, good thai tea Cons: expensive, small portions, slow more

Great customer service and GREAT Thai food 7/18/2006

Whoever thinks that Thai Village has bland food obviously did not know what to order and has no clue what real thai food tastes like. The Gai Lard Prik is the best sweet and sour chicken I have ever tasted (and I've been to Thailand). Great spice balanced with a sweet tamarind and plantain sauce. There may not be any beer there, but the great thing is you can bring your own! Much cheaper than paying $4 a beer at other restaurants. The chef Scott makes soup fresh for me when I order it, even though it may not be on the menu. The fresh rolls are a tasty treat for the vegetarians out thereI highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Even Keanu Reeves liked it! Cons: Parking during the day is hard sometimes. more

Very dissapointing 6/15/2006

Hidden yes....worth looking for....no. The only redemable aspect of this restaurant was the service but it was only fast because we were the only people there on a friday night! The food was dissapointing, and over-priced for how much food you get. With so many good reviews I expected a great meal for over $15 a person, and to have some leftovers....We left with neither. Goes to show that just because the other reviewers have been going there for 5 and 8 years......doesn't mean they know good cheap Thai food. Pros: Fast service Cons: Bland food, bad lighting more

Excellent 8/19/2005

We have been frequenting this place for the last few years. Excellent food & service make us return often. Pros: Good food, Excellent service, Price more

WORTH IT 2/23/2005

This restaurant is hidden, but well worth checking out. The food presentation is exquisite, atmosphere suttle - yet cozy. Well worth a try. Pros: Good Food more

By far, the best place Thai in Austin 2/11/2005

A few years ago, my husband had a craving for Thai food. We tried almost every Thai restaurant in Austin before finding Thai Village. From the moment we walked in, we were hooked. Now, this is the only Thai restaurant we eat at. The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. We have been eating there every week for the past 5 years and always leave satisfied. I highly recommend this place. more

Best Restaurant in Austin 6/18/2004

The best restaurant in Austin, and I should know---I've tried nearly everything on the menu (I've been going for 8 years!), and here's what I recommend: Pad Prikh King (Dry Curry), Nur Num Tok, Tiger Cry, Pad Se Ew, Mas Sa Monn (Red Curry), Basil Fried Rice. There are lots of other good things on the menu, but those are my favorites. Pros: Inexpensive, Excellent Food more

The best thai food ive had 12/4/2003

im pretty narrow minded in my tastes, but the chicken pad thai is the best ive tasted anywhere bar none. Add the peanut sauce and its a sweet experience that wont let you down. also the appetizers are great especially the cheese rolls. lunch is the best time to go because for the price you get the salad and an appetizer of the day included. Pros: great food, cheap Cons: slow if crowded, atomosphere more

only thai food worth eating in Austin 11/3/2003

I just have to say, FINALLY a thai restaurant that knows how to make Pad See Ewe the way it should taste. The fresh spring rolls in their sweet and sour sauce is also to die for... I've never eaten here and been let down. Everytime my stomach leaves full and very happy! more

best thai food in austin 10/22/2002

Need I say more?? I've eaten at almost every single reputable Thai restaurant in Austin and so far this is best. Most Thai restaurants in Austin do not survive for long, but there must be a reason why this one is still here. Cuz the food is good!! This restaurant makes me want to go back for more. The price is reasonable and the atmosphere is as it should be. more

My favorite Thai restaurant 7/23/2002

One of my favorite, unique dishes is Thai Village's Tiger Cry. It is super spicy, so beware! I also really recommend the red curry dish and the cream cheese rolls are a really great appetizer. Once we came for dinner, and there were no waitresses on duty. The chef waited on us himself, with excellent efficiency, and the meal was perfect! This is where I take visitors for out of town. It is one of Austin's best kept secrets. Pros: good parking, peaceful/quiet Cons: strip mall location more

  • In Short
A truly hidden find, Thai Village is nestled within a busy strip mall, obvious only because of its red sign. The plain interior in no way reflects the food's ethnic authenticity,...
