Editorial review from Citysearch 9/25/2012

The worst service I've ever encountered. And I eat out in Bellevue regularly. I must wonder how such a joint has been in business in this location for so many years! The waiter actually went behind my elderly mother and I, who had been waiting first in line for over 15 min, to take the two young (Thai?) men who had just entered and were in line behind us. When I objected, he said: ""You wait!"" more

Support Fraudulent Thai Ginger? 4/5/2012

I try to support businesses with similar ethics as mine. After having read this article and many others about Thai Ginger's owner having committed immigration fraud--paying people to marry her relatives so they could stay in the U.S., I can no longer support such a business. Even if they do cook good food (sometimes), this restaurant is terribly managed and owned. And her employees show the lack of management in their atrocious customer service. Not a place to go. Citysearch isn't letting me post the article so you'll have to look it up using the key words ""Thai Ginger fraud"" and I read most of the articles but mainly the KOMONews one. more

The Best 2/16/2012

I am seeing a few negative comments. I am sorry to hear that some people have not experienced this restraurant like I have for over 3 years. I am huge Thai fan, but most I feel are not great. However, in my book this place is one the best you are going to find. The only place better is Thai Toms on the U Ave (get the swimming rama. Once you get it at Thai Toms, you will never get it anywhere else. From the outside this place doesnt look great. But keep in mind this is the first place where they got started, so it is their oldest restaurant. For maybe a better experience try their Redmond Towncenter location. But for me I feel once you get inside, it is a very warm and cozy atmosphere with rich woods, etc. The food is always consistantely amazing. I have never been rushed out of there to leave, as some of the other reviews have eluded. Some of our favorites are the pang curry, fried rice, pad se uwe, fresh rolls, etc (all chicken). more

Consistently good 2/15/2012

My husband and I eat here all the time. We almost always order the Phad Thai and Swimming Rama (both with chicken). The Factoria location is very small and it can be hard to get a table in the evenings. I'm disheartened to see all the low reviews, which is unfortunate. I can't speak for others . . .but I can say that my husband and I eat here (both eat in and take out) about once every other week, and are quite happy to continue eating there. We find it to be on par with several other Thai restaurants on the eastside. more

Horrible Experience 12/16/2011

I have heard positive about Thai Ginger but this one is not good at all....I do not that was us or for all.. when we went there , they were about to close. They said that they can serve us but we need to order fast and everything together. Thats fine.. we ordered fast but after eating the food i felt that they mixed same thing in all dishes .. Sauce was only different. (tip :- never go in restaurant while they are about to close because they are in hurry and dont want to cook good food) . i never tasted such taste for Thai food. total lost of money and service was also ok .. might be we were late so they wanted to leave us quickly. Any way over all not nice experience. more

Just got kicked out after 25 minutes because they are busy 1/25/2011

Just went to have lunch there. I had eaten a little bit of my lunch, the guy came around and asked if I wanted a to-go box. I said I did, he picked up my plate, dumped the rest of my lunch in and said thanks for coming. Then another guy came and asked if we could leave because they are busy today. I've been there a bunch of times, the food is not great and neither is the experience. But after a while you forget and want to have something different for lunch, so you venture over to Thai Ginger. I think this tops it for me. more

This was a really bizarre dining experience 1/22/2011

We heard this place had some good Thai food so we went on Friday night. The first thing we noticed is that two tables got up and left. They got into arguments with the staff about food quality. This was obviously a red flag but we had waited 25 minutes to be seated and had already ordered. What a mistake. We waited nearly an hour for our appys to show up. The Tod Mun was rubbery and cold. We brought this to the waitresses attention and she just shrugged. I saw the manager and when apprised she said, ""what you know about thai food? you not thai people! you dirty arab!"" Well, I am Armenian, not Arab, but that is beside the point. I have never had such an encounter in all me life. We got up to leave and the manager demanded payment for the entire meal. She threatened to call the police and i told her please do! She actually followed us into the parking lot! I am still shaking my head. more

Simnply a terrible experience 9/28/2010

This has got to be the worst restaurant in Seattle. The food was less than mediocre (way too sweet, undercooked, cold) and the staff were incredibly rude. The waitress couldn't be bothered to give us any of her time and when we dared to voice concern over the food quality it brought the manager over. Rather than attend to our concerns the manager began yelling at us. We were astounded. I would avoid this place at all costs. I read that the owner of this pl;ace was sent to federal prison for forcing her American staff to marry her Thai relatives in some sort of Green Card scam. What a joke Thai Ginger is. more

Worst Meal Ever and Owner is a FELON! 9/7/2010

We went here for a celebration and what a mistake it was. The food was far from authentic. The Pad Thai was made with catsup as in Heinz 57!! Everything was sickly sweet. Also, the food got cold pretty quickly so we think it was microwaved from the chiller rather than freshly prepared. When we brought this to the wait staffs attention they ignored it. After informing them we would neither eat their fare nor would we pasy for it the manageress came out from the back screeching at us like a bird of prey! She wanted to be paid. Rather than continue this ill treatment I agreed to pay but the bill was not itemized. Since it seemed way too high I asked for an itemized version but this triggered another outburst from the manager! It was too much! We ran out the door but this crazy woman was in hot pursuit. Thank fully we had parked across the street since their lot was too small. We found out later that this is the place where the owner is sitting in a federal prison for having US Citizen employees marry her Thai family members so they can get green cards. It figures. This place is corrupt all the way around. Here's the link to the story: more

Friendly and good food 3/25/2010

I'm writing this because I saw bad reviews while looking up the phone number. I'm not sure what those people's problem is, writing to let you know this is a good place. I've been eating here since at least 1996 and have never had a bad experience, though there was a time around 1998 where there was some sort of labor issue and all the waitresses left to work at chantanee. The food has been consistantly good and the panang curry has remained unchanged. Pros: best panang beef Cons: becoming expensive more

Rude Service - Do not eat at this location. 1/30/2010

In terms of food this place is pretty good, especially when compared with Tasty Thai across the street. However, the service is terrible so I will never eat at this location again. I called and made reservations for the busy lunch rush as we were entertaining a client from out of town, however when I got there the lady said we don't take reservations in a rude voice and we were forced to wait 20 minutes (despite that I had the call history right there in my cell phone). To top it off the service after we were seated was slow and rude again.. Pros: Good Thai Food Cons: Rude Service, Crowded at Lunch more

Absolutly the worst Thai food I've ever had 12/22/2009

I ordered dinner to go one night for myself. After I got home ate a couple bites and about a half an hour later I puked it all over my the wall & my hallway. There were bean sprouts and peanuts covered in my barf. more

Thai Ginger is great 9/30/2009

Thai Ginger is a great family place. The food and service is great. Cant wait to go back for some cashew chicken. Their is hardly any parking at this location. more

Outraged by treatment 7/16/2009

We went here for dinner and the food was really poor. It was extremely hot when delivered to our table but then was cold within five minutes. This is a sure sign that it was not freshly prepared but microwaved. We told the waitress our food was cold and she proceeded to yell at us! We were speechless. We have never been treated so rudely. We will never give this place our business again. Pros: None noted Cons: Food Quality, Customer Service more

I was happy with food & service 7/15/2009

I must admit after reading many of these reviews I really did not want to eat here, but only because it was convenient to meet one of my friends did I agree. I really don't get some of the other comments. Our waitress was just a delight, the service was quick and I ordered - Phad Bai Kaplau, veggies were fresh, good flavor. Had green tea ice cream for desert. I really don't have more to say, but my friend and I were happy with our dinner and the service. more

Think twice before u dine at Thai Ginger 3/31/2009

I ordered a dish of pud thai and half way through my dish, i found a leg of animail / b u g in my noodle. I told the fat waitress about it. she rudely took my plate and charged me for it. Bad service. She yelled at me. I do not recommend anyone to eat that. The food is not clean, it gets cold easily and taste nasty! more

Horrible food and sour service 2/25/2009

The food here is nothing less than disgusting. It must be premade then microwaved because it cooled off very quickly. Also, these people padded the bill as the total came to more then $30 more than it should have. We couldn't see where the discrepancy was coming from since they didn't itemize the check - just gave us a number! When we asked for itemization the manager came over to the table and berated us! This was completely unacceptable and we will never return. Cons: cold food and sour service more

Home-y feeling Thai Place 2/13/2009

I read the reviews before going and there must have been an angry customer giving this place tons of one stars, because this place was almost packed when I went on a Friday night. If you like spicy food they will make it as spicy as you can handle it. The massuman curry, tom yum soup, and some mixed vegetable with seafood dish were really good. Reasonably priced, and the servers filled up my water many times during the meal. Not the best for big parties, since the place is small, but I'd definitely recommend this place if you like spicy Thai food. Pros: Parking, no waiting more

Boy is this place awful! 1/3/2009

The food is nothing special if not bad and the service is almost surreal. Our entrees lacked meat and became cold pretty fast suggesting they were microwaved. We asked for spicy but this was anything but. Whenever we tried to get a server's attenton we were ignored and the few times she came to the table she was down right rude. But the awful part is the bathroom is right in the middle of the restaurant and one of the guests went in there and did his business. It must have been something big because we sure did get wind of it! I mean, it was peeling paint in the dining area! This was the final indignity of an awful experience so we got out of there fast. Problem was the waitress didn't come by so we left some cash on the table and left in a flurry of pinched nostrils and grabbing coats. Next thing we see is the female manager running out into the parking lot after us claiming we were skipping out on the check! Can you believe it! we are still laughing about this whole thing. Cons: Wretched service and bad food. Bathroom is too close to the eating area more

Re: Pretty Good 12/19/2008

The food is fast so if you're in a hurry you can count on this place. I have always had good service from their staff. The food is very good. My only complaint (I'm a picky meat eater) is that the chicken sometimes tastes pre-cooked. Other than that it is fantastic. more
