Turned a Special Night into a Nightmare 8/2/2011

I used to like your restaurant, until you turned a special night into the worst experience ever, didn't even wait for us to finish our meals before you turned the lights on/music off and started the vacuum cleaner..at 10pm...we got there 8:...45...ordered the works, and were rushed out so quickly...our server didn't even wait to untuck her blouse...and then to tell us we couldn't stay....really??? And the owner and managers did NOTHING to rectify it. Owner wouldn't even speak to me in person, only via phone while I stood outside of the restaurant. Pathetic attitudes towards people spending good money in this horrible economy (apps, bottle of wine, house specials, etc). Not even the offer to turn the music back on and dim the lights so we can finish our meals...or even turn the vacuum cleaner off. Like I said, a special night ruined due to lack of quality service. I will never recommend your restaurant ever again. And you won't even give a ____ because that's the attitude you exhibited from the beginning of the complaint. No offer to comp anything for the bad service. more

Oustanding food & service 11/11/2010

If you are searching for the perfect place to dine in Vinings, search no further. We have been frequenting this restaurant at least once a week since we first tried it several years ago. We always order several dishes b/c they are all so delicious we can never decide on just one...from the Bankok Chicken to the Sweet & Sour Dishes to the Panang Curry...nothing will disappoint your taste buds. The staff is always promt and attentive & the overall service is impeccable. The atmosphere is also perfect for a romantic night out. If you are craving Thai food, you need to run not walk! You will LOVE this place. more

great food and we have always had great service - if in doubt try the Bangkok Chicken!! 2/16/2009

Ok I am writing this review because this is great food and we have always had great service. I see the comments on attitude here and I?m thinking maybe some hard to please patrons are casting a negative vibe and getting back what they are putting out. But our experience at Thai Dinner has always been excellent. My wife and I started eating there regularly about 2 years ago. The food is absolutely wonderful and very consistent. My wife loves the Bangkok Chicken and we have taken some discerning people there to try it ( i.e. the inlaws). Maybe it is not the most authentic Thai but this is one of the best restaurants in Atlanta you can go to have a great meal and generally get seated when you walk in. Pam, the owner, has always been really wonderful to us. She was extra nice this past Saturday - Feb 14th Valentine?s day when she clearly had plenty of business ??.I noticed how she recognized and treated some of her regular customers. Pros: Food and available seating Cons: Parking is a bit more work due to the new C&S restaurant which uses valet and takes up spaces more

Outstanding, consistent Thai food 8/22/2008

We dined at Thai Diner once, and since have had take out countless times. The food is consistently scrumptious. We order the chicken yellow curry, the pad thai, and the tom yum goong soup. They also are wonderful about making great recommendations to help us branch out from our usual order. Ironically, the first time we ate there, I wasn't all that impressed ( don't remember there being any problem with service, but I thought the food was middle of the road). However, it is close to where we live, so I tried it for take out and the food has always been wonderful - we now get take out there about once a week. Enjoy consistent, fresh, tasty Thai food. Pros: Food Cons: In Kroger strip mall more

Decent Food bad service 8/5/2008

I would say they have a decent food quality and taste however their service & mannerisms needs to improve a lot. more

Thai Diner is the BEST place to eat! 7/13/2008

I've been dining in Thai Diner ever since it first opened. I don't know what all of those negative reviews are talking about because the service is ALWAYS great, the food ALWAYS tastes very authentic and consistent, and my kids even know Ms. Pam for almost their whole childhood! They are going to college now and they always tell me that they are going to miss the food at Thai Diner. I highly recommend Thai Diner because it is the BEST thai food in town. Pros: EVERYTHING! Cons: nothing at all more

Fantastic Thai 6/24/2008

Thai Diner is OUTSTANDING! I don't know what the last review is about. I have been to this restaurant numerous times and have NEVER been disappointed. The food is consistently fantastic and the service is spot on. My co-workers and I have made it a regular destination in our lunch rotation. I thought nothing could compare to Annies Thai Castle, but this restaurant is ranked right next to it in my book. more

Overrated 4/20/2008

Thai Diner is very overrated. It is not authentic Thai food. It tastes more like watered down Thai. I ordered the basil fried rice and the taste was very bland. I asked for it to be extra spicy and it wasn't. I tried my friend's Pad thai and that was quite bland and boring as well. Pros: Parking, price Cons: bland food and service more

Very Good Basil Rolls 7/12/2007

This place is very good, fresh and well priced for table service. Locals know it. Atl needs to find it. The menu is divine and the food is fresh, authentic and spiced just right. Try it, you will like it more

No shrimp for you! (Seinfeld fans eat your heart out!) 5/21/2007

There is no doubt that the food at Thai Diner is one of the best in the city and keeps loyal customers like us returning for years. However if you happen to order an appetizer with mucoid smelly shrimp in it, make sure to never ask for a different roll or point it out to the hostess and owner because she will turn on you no matter how politely you word it. Infact when such an instance occurred with us we just let it go until she came by to our table to find out how the food was. At that point being that we had been coming to the restuarant for years and knew Pam we told her that the basil roll tasted a little different. She looked perturbed and said she would look into it. Then returned from the kitchen promptly and claimed she had tasted the peice of roll which I had spat out (into a piece of tissue discreetly) and that the shrimp tasted ""just fine."" At this point though we were taken aback with her behavior it felt like a bad episode of Seinfeld we decided to just let it go! However, only to find that she had charged us for the basil rolls that we had not eaten. When we tried to delicately bring this to our waitress's knowledge thinking it was a simple mistake she shot us a look and Pam came by and stated that since there was nothing wrong with the rolls that we should pay for it. This after going to Thai Diner at least three times a week for years and all of it over a meagre basil roll! While the food there is excellent the hostess and owner Pam needs a refresher course on customer service! more

my favorite Thai in Atlanta 8/7/2006

Well, for this restaurant, nothing to say but: ""I'm a fan"", from the very first time I went in more than a year and a half ago, I've always been happy and full :) more

Open for lunch and dinner! 1/19/2006

Previous reviewer said they are not open for lunch - they certainly are! We have had several work-celebration lunches there for over 20 people. Although it is not a large restaurant, they always take care of all their guests in a timely manner. The food is delicious, well-prepared with fresh ingredients and nicely presented. Masaman chicken is very good and the lamb lunch special is out-of-this-world delicious! Make reservations for a large group. Pros: Great food, Great prices, Attentive staff Cons: Crowded parking lot.., but worth the hassle more

Excellent food - not so good service! 11/13/2005

This is probably one of Atlanta's gems when it comes to Thai food. But their service is really not at the same level. The waitresses seem to be undertrained and the manager is not customer friendly. more
