Save Yourself and Go Anywhere Else... 11/30/2011

Let's summarize with terrible service, rude management, and below average food not worth the price. My husband and I drove in from Orange County excited to visit the wineries for the day. Being from Texas, Texas Lil's caught our eye when hitting the shops so we decided to stop by here first to grab a quick bite to eat. It's Tuesday, 2 for 1 burgers. ""Great deal,"" I'm thinking. Incorrect. I search under the burger section and order the ""Chili Size"" while my date orders ""The Austin."" The burgers were simply below average. They definitely aren't worth the $11.95 that they charge for them. And I'm fairly certain that chili came from a large Hormel can. We eat our food, receive our check, and there is no discount for the buy 1 get 1 free burger special. We mention this to the waitress and her response is, ""whoops I should have said something. They don't consider the Texas Chili to be a burger."" Extremely confused I ask her if this happens a lot and she says,""yes, it actually does. She does the right thing and speaks to the manager, Richard, only returning to say that he won't remove it from the check. At this point, it's not worth our time and we pay our check and prepare to leave but are paid an unexpected greeting by the manager, Richard. This guy is unbelievable. He doesn't come out to make sure everything is ok, like a professional manager of a restaurant would normally do. He comes out to tell us that we are not only wrong but that he simply doesn't care, that it wasn't a burger that I ate because it had Texas Toast on it, not a hamburger bun. Are you kidding me with this right now? We tell him that we are disappointed in our experience. He replies with a simple too bad and walks off. You have to be thinking there is no way that a manager of a restaurant in such a quaint town could be this rude, because I was thinking the same thing. But Richard will exceed your expectations of the definition rude, I promise you this, my friend. [this next paragraph is moreso written just in case someone in charge at this restaurant might care enough to read this so feel free to skip to the next paragraph] Now, just so just in case the fact that my burger had a hamburger patty on it wasn't enough..when you look at their menu, it is broken down into sections. One section is clearly titled ""burgers and sandwiches"" and these two burgers can be found under this section. Not to mention, when the food came out, both ""burgers"" had hamburger patties on them. Now, being from Texas, most people would probably say it's safe to assume that I know what a burger is. And I like to think that I do. So to Richard, (the unbelievably rude manager who graced us with his brief and uninvited presence), if it has a hamburger patty on it, it's a burger, no matter what type of bread you put on it. If you list it under the burger section, it's a frickin' burger. We were actually so perturbed that we contacted the owner, Ron, to let him know of the experience. I know if it were my business, I would want to know how the people that I pay we're treating my customers. Not so much. He never returned our calls. I would like to think that this was a one time experience, but judging my the waitresses comments, it sounds like customers leave here unhappy quite often. And that's pretty sad in itself. So in summary, my review isn't biased - its honest. I had a terrible experience and was treated poorly. But the food still sucked. So here are my pros and cons only because I believe that's what makes a review fair. Pros Good margarita Nice patio and ambiance Cons Rude and abrasive management Bad food and not worth the price Their 2 for 1 burger special is a scam. more
