everytime I think about eating at Texadelphia. I've been eating there for 8 years and have never had a bad meal. Ohhh the mustard sauce!

I had a craving for a cheesesteak, so went to Texadelphia and figured I would try their "favorite" sandwich. Well, it was a 7+ dollar sandwich, maybe 8... I don't remember. But the sandwich was probably a 3 or 4 dollar value, not a generous portion. There was a disproportionate amount of canned jalepenos that not only took up a lot of room on the already small sandwich but overpowered the flavor. The thing that got me most upset though was that they served the little bitty sandwich in a big ol' bag of tortilla chips, with separate containers for salsa and their mustard sauce (overpackaging, costs money... I didnt want it to begin with). I didn't go there for chips and salsa, I wanted a cheesesteak! It seemed they tried to justify their high price by filling up the bag with chips and condiments. I would have been happier if they kept the chips and were more generous with the real food. more

Texadelphia 3/20/2006

If you lived or studied in U.T., you've spent your good part of a fortune at Texadelphia. Those guys can really cook up a cheesesteak. Although they've got other, healthier options, like their turkey sandwich, you've really got to go for their Original Cheesesteak. Their "Founder's Favorite" - a cheesesteak with tender, sliced beef and topped with onions and mozzarella is a classic. No need to veer off anywhere else in their menu. Top it with any of their free sauces, which include Marinara, Salsa, Spicy Ranch and Mayo and you can customize it to your preference. All their cheesesteaks come with chips and salsa to round off a rather hefty meal. Their humongous cup for their soft drinks is also a plus, specially if you opt for their salsa on top of your steak. The UT location has the most personality but any of their other locations can satisfy that craving. more

a guilty pleasure 8/26/2005

Texadelphia serves up Cheese steaks and curly fries that taste great. The 15th street location and the Sunset Valley location are both really comfortable with big booths. I find the Congress location to be dark and the food never seems quite as good there. The chicken cheesesteak is really tasty but does leave you feeling a little bogged down the rest of the day. more

Cheap Eats at a Classic Locale 8/16/2005

Texadelphia has been a local favorite for years, and it is located right in the middle of the "drag," the strip of shops and restaurants that sit right across from the UT campus. Try their vegetarian sandwich--it's got guacamole and cheese and is both filling and inexpensive. Their cheesesteak is also quite good, and you can order beer as well. Definitely a good, relaxed place to grab a quick bite and enjoy the local scene. more

  • In Short
This Texas chain is an alternative to the ever-present burger joint. The cheesesteak sandwich was invented of course in Philly, but Texadelphia has managed to make it their own...
