Tex & Shirley's Family Restaurant

I just finished eating at Tex & Shirley's and it was a bad experience. We had the majority of our orders be incorrect and there was also fecal matter (i.e. stinky) in the floor. In their defense it is most likely very rare that something like this would happened and the wrong orders were placed by a very pleasant lady who was more than willing to make corrections. My primary concern is now with the way their management treated me. Their staff was unaware of the feces so my wife pointed it out to them. After leaving, I called to explain to the manager Gilbert Jones about the issue and he made sure to allude as if the mistaken orders were our groups fault and that I was inaccurate in my assessment of the concerns. He went as far as to get into a child like "word war" saying "well you said this". He spent more time being defensive and harping on the fact that I did not complain while I was there. He could have taken the more customer friendly perspective and agreed that it was an unfortunate accident and been a little polite and non confrontational. If I am not looking for any money then does it really matter if I present a concern while I am there or present the concern in a more private manner. I can totally understand that a person who was there had an emergency and the accident happened. But why did it take them so long to respond and address it seeing as that he presented it as if the staff was aware of the situation and took care of it immediately. And why is the manager talking to me in a manner as if the whole incident was all my fault? I would not even be writing this review if the manager did not treat me the way that he did. If he has no care for a concerned customer then what should I believe about how he trains his staff to care for the customer? This restaurant provides a very filling meal for the money, but this experience is not worth the cost savings. I was formally a happy customer of Tex & Shirlely's and it is unfortunate that this has happened. more

All I can say is FOOD POISON! As soon as I got home I was sick as a dog. Threw up all through the night. Two days to recover. more

We visited Tex and Shirleys on a Saturday morning for breakfast. It was our first visit in probably a year. Now I remember why we haven't gone back. The tables are crammed into the dining room - presumably to maximize their customer space. However, sitting at a table on an angle practically on top of the person at the table adjacent to us, it is not comfortable. The baby's high chair kept getting bumped as staff moved service carts through the aisle. Have you ever checked out the ceiling? Gross! Their sanitation grade was decent, 97 I think, but the ceiling was disgusting, especially near the vents. Staff was friendly enough, but not on top of things like refilling water/coffee, bringing ketchup or an extra straw when asked, etc. The food was decent - but not as exceptional as it is talked up to be. We won't be returning any time soon. more

Tex and Shirleys is an all breakfast restaurant with some of the best pancakes in town. the service is great, and the food is even better. The only real drawback is that they are a cash only kind of place and you wouldnt know taht from the exterior. There are plenty of ATMs in walking distance, so you can pick up some cash on your way. more

There pancakes are trully amazing. I love the chocolate chip pancakes. They have a great atmosphere and service is tremendous. Couldnt have asked for a more pleasent expierence. It is a convient location, right next to Friendly Shopping center. I usually start off on Sunday mornings there with my family. Price is decent and food is GREAT!!! A* more

A family friendly restaurant, known for great breakfasts and more ways to do pancakes than you can shake a stick at. They also have good hamburgers, and chicken sandwiches for a lunch or dinner as well. Pecan pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes are to die for, and bacon that really tastes like bacon. Wait staff are friendly and helpful, food comes quickly and a wide variety of everything makes this a Greensboro institution. Even better news--another Tex and Shirley's is under construction in North High Point--near Skeet Club. Can't wait for it to open! more
