My wife and I love this store and shop there as much as we can afford to. If you're home has a modern flair to it, you need to know Conran. Great products for everything from your...

i'm a fan of Sir Terence's shops all around the world but this one has to be the worst. what's with all of the boxes everywhere on the shop floor? what's with the monochromatic ...

top notch modern furniture & flowers 10/26/2005

this is an amazing boutique to wander into, if only to windowshop and drool over the beautifully designed furniture and household pieces, for adults and children alike. i love the inspired room setups they have, the way every item is juxtaposed with something else complementary and beautiful, and the way every piece just begs to be taken home and used. the salespeople are a bit standoffish, but their demeanor somehow fits into the overall scope of the place. more

very fun furniture store 10/21/2005

this is a really cool furniture store right by the 59th st bridge. its all very contemporary and one plus is they tend to have alot of stuff in stock. alot of other places if you order something you have to wait the standard 12-16 weeks and it'll probably take longer. a bunch of items here are good to go. thats not the case for the more custom furniture but alot of it is worth the wait. prices are pretty expensive - prob worth waiting til their year end sale if you have flexiibility on timeing... more

home goods 10/14/2005

I went to one of these years ago in DC, but they say this one is not associated with that store years ago. They have a neat collection of designer home goods and knick knacks that are available in all the interior designer magazines. When I went in, they were selling wood stumps as stools. And they weren't giving them away. Prices run very high for some of the items, but smaller items are reasonable priced. more

Elegantly designed home furnishings 9/8/2005

Opened in 1999, this store has arranged elegantly designed furniture and neat knick knacks in eye pleasing displays. Can't really envision any of it in the homes I know of but this is a great store (located right under the 59th Street Bridge) to browse in. Uncrowded and no salespeople ready to pounce on you. It is also quite expensive. Staff are coolly helpful. Beautiful flower arrangements, kitchen items, desk accessories, chairs, lamps - all beautifully styled and in vibrant colors. Maybe for getting something for that someone that has everything. more

fun stuff for your home 8/23/2005

normally i dont think of the brits when i think of design but this place has some pretty nifty stuff. added bonus is that all the uptowners dont have to head to soho to find some cool furniture. nothing over the edge, but all nice, clean lined stuff. prices arent super cheap but then again this isnt crate and barrell either. good everyday household items too (plates, glasses, etc) more

Superb Designs 8/13/2005

The Terrance Conran shop is a place not only for the rich among us. Yes, a chair can cost $1000 in this store, but you don't pay for looking. This place has some of the best designs I've ever seen. From sophisticated toys to elaborated furniture. I would say that this is a taste of the real upscale New York and is an impressive landmark for New Yorkers and even tourists. more

My Kind of Funiture 3/25/2005

I am not a furniture guy. I'm still someone who thinks that paying in the three figures is a lot for most furniture, much less four or five. Nevertheless, even I can't resist taking a peek into Conran's and every now and again buying something (particularly from their semi-annual warehouse sales). Conran's simply has wonderfully designed furniture and furnishings that really appeal to my design sensibility: elegant, modern, clean, and comfortable. You'll have a good time looking around, even if most stuff will be out of your price range. One word of warning: if you do go to the warehouse sales, go early. The best stuff gets snatched up also instantaneously. more

A design store that even the aesthetically challenged would enjoy 10/23/2004

An import from England, the Terence Conran shop is located under the Queensboro bridge. It contains two levels of housewares and furniture and interesting gifts. My husband, whom I generally think has little interest in aesthetics and is extremely frugal (bordering on cheap), was almost lured into buying a $1500 minidesk. The aesthetic is clean, modern, dramatic. I have also found cool, inexpensive toys and other knick knacks that make for different stocking stuffers or birthday presents. Sometimes I wish I had had the foresight to have registered here for my wedding, but that wouldn't have been practical and I am generally nothing if not practical...... more
