I stayed here when I was meeting my now-fiancee for the first time in person. It's a beautiful house, and the hosts were very welcoming and friendly, but also businesslike, which ...

I needed a place to stay within easy reach of Washington this was it\r \r Located in a charming semi rural area minutes from the center of Annapolis The Taylor house has it all, outlook, large rooms, position, a great breakfast, service, a charming host and Grandma who is full of tales of life in the area.\r \r I was able to get to the metro and get in and out of Washington avoiding the hassles of driving and parking.\r \r A good evening meal was not hard to find in Annapolis but perhaps priced a bit above where I thought it should be.\r \r All in all a great experience. more

We are delighted to have found the Taylor House when we visited Annapolis. It is a beautiful, clean home, and Sophie is a wonderful hostess. The Taylor House is located in a beautiful country setting, but is just a few minutes drive from downtown Annapolis. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable, with all of the comforts of home. The rate is very reasonable - the best value by far compared to the other places we saw available online.\r Traveling with small children isn't easy, but The Taylor House was ideal for our needs. We would highly recommend The Taylor House to anyone considering a visit to Annapolis. We will definitely stay there when we go back. more

What a wonderful, friendly place. Right down to Jamie, the sweet potato eating golden retriever. We had a great stay and breakfast was amazing!\r This beautiful old house has been tastefully and lovingly restored to it's full glory and it was a real treat to stay here. Thanks Daryl and Dave! We'll be back more

We really enjoyed our stay in historic Boston and had many places to choose from to stay. The Taylor House was definitely a good decision!! Dave was extremely helpful with info on how to get from place to place. And Darryl's breakfasts were exquisite!! We were within a few miles of everywhere that we wanted to visit and the accommodations were great!! I don't know that we'll get back to Boston, but if so, I know where we'll be staying!!! more

Beautiful house, central location, warm inn keepers. What more can you ask for in a B&B? The Taylor House made our stay in Boston a comfortable one. The mix of the renovated historic home and fine furniture with a taste for modern art, has something that will appeal to any guest. The rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced. No details are overlooked with the locally made soaps in the bathrooms and homemade breakfast waiting downstairs. They even have charming rooms/suites for families. The golden retrievers, Parker and Wags, are friendly and well behaved. The inn keepers went out of their way to ensure that our stay was fantastic, including details on the best places to eat and tips for getting around the city. They even drove us to the train station when we were running behind for a scheduled tour. Overall, the Taylor House was the best detail about our trip that we shared with friends and family. more

Our time at the Taylor House was beyond belief--from the comfortable, beautifully appointed rooms to the luscious breakfasts--my husband and I were delighted with our stay. Dave and Daryl are amazing--all our needs were met. Dave generously printed maps of each of our destinations, providing insightful suggestions on parking, places to eat, must-sees, etc. He even has a large bowl of coins to be purchased for parking meters or the T, which requires exact change. You must spend some time looking through their ""before"" picture album of the work they've done to the Taylor House--fascinating AND impressive. The artwork throughout the house is comparable to visiting a lovely small museum. The Taylor House is where we will stay on all our future Boston adventures! (Our stay was in the cold of February, and was still devine!) more

This B&B in a restored Victorian home in the lovely Jamaica Plains neighborhood of Boston was a complete delight. Our room on the second floor, restored curved stairway, was spacious with TV and free WiFi. The bathroom, with large window, has an extraordinary shower with 4 shower heads and good water pressure! The bathroom itself has ample room for toiletries for two with plenty of clean towels. The rooms in this house all have names and wonderful period furniture, with ample space for clothing. Breakfast is served downstairs daily and is included with the room.. The second floor has a library of DVDs one can watch on the room's DVD player. more

What a great find! A beautiful B&B in a lovely grand Victorian home in a residential area of Jamaica Plain, outside of downtown Boston. Walking distance to a lake and the arboretum. Comfy beds, fun decor, delicious breakfasts and music!\r \r They have been instrumental (really -no pun intended) in creating a venue for classical and jazz musicians to play in the early evenings- a beautiful aria was being sung by a talented singer accompanied by a concert pianist one night when we were there.\r \r There is a harpsicord that was built by a friend of the hosts and artistically painted by another to resemble one which was present when they were in vogue. I have heard that there are concerts on this instrument at times.\r \r These recitals are not intrusive if you are not into this, lasting maybe an hour with a small reception afterwards and they lend a charm to the wonderful home and gardens. There is a $10 donation suggested probably not even covering the dessert and wine reception afterward.\r \r The breakfast is delicious and plentiful with 2 hot items every day plus a varying fruit salad, granola bar , breads etc. The breakfast room was self serve buffet style and a popular place. In addition to this you can make yourself a tea or coffee at any time at a little kitchen on the second floor, where there are also many CD's to choose t watch on the flat screen TV in your room.\r \r Our room (second floor front left as you are looking at the house from the road) was spacious and lovely. Our bathroom , while a little small was gorgeous with trompe l'oeil clouds on the ceiling. Thoroughly charming!\r \r Another plus is that, even though you are in a residential area with amazing examples of vintage architecture, you are a block away from great restaurants, a pharmacy etc. a booming Main St. Quiet and convenience.\r \r We love the resident pups. Check out the website for details about their lineage. They are friendly but not intrusive.\r \r We love this house and feel like it is a home away from home. We can't wait to get back. more

My husband and I recently spent 3 glorious nights at this spectacular B&B. This Victorian house has been completely refurbished and is absolutely stunning -we hated to leave! The grounds surrounding the house have been transformed into a peaceful oasis. The Innkeepers, Dave and Daryl, are great guys who made us feel so welcome and at home. We quickly became spoiled with Daryl's fabulous breakfasts and the coffee station right outside our room (coffee is ready when you wake up). The house is immaculately clean with all the comforts of home, even a phone in the room. There is an office area for business travellers offering fax services and free Internet access. The location is perfect - very nice, safe neighborhood just minutes from the bus stop, subway station and great restaurants. We enjoyed their dogs Parker and Wags, who are very sweet and never bark. Do yourself a favour and stay here when in the Boston area. You'll never get this type of experience in a hotel! We've stayed in numerous B&B's and none can compare. I have to commend Dave & Daryl for setting a standard of excellence that is hard (if not impossible) to beat. more

I travel to Boston frequently for business and on my last trip, this week, I found that there were NO hotel rooms available in the entire city, due to the Stanley Cup playoffs. I finally found an available room at this very nice B&B in Jamaica Plains. Though it was out of my way, since I was doing business in the Seaport District, I didn't mind the longer cab ride, as my stay was such a surprisingly pleasant experience! The gracious hosts, Dave and Daryl, were so lovely. And the home was lovingly restored. Though some of the common areas felt slightly ""worn"", I found my bedroom and bath to be better than most fine hotels. The innkeepers focus on those things that matter most - great air conditioning (in over 90 degree weather!), plush towels, updated and well appointed bathrooms, comfortable bed - with soft linens, privacy, flat screen TV, and an excellent breakfast! And I loved the fact that they support local business and products, such as the assortment of artisanal jams, and they support green living, by directing guests to dispose of breakfast trash in a compost bin and recycling containers.\r I highly recommend Taylor House for vacationers, as well as business people who want the comforts of home. more

Finding this beautiful carefully restored home a short distance from the heart of Biston, made our stay in Boston a memorable one. The Inn is a short distance from Jamacia Pond which has a lovely path around the lake (1.5 miles ). Breakfast is a treat with a variety of homemade treats prepared by the Inn Keeper. We were delighted with an unusual frittata which was delicious. There were many choices of items for breakfast, and were not run of the mill fare, which made breakfast healthy and delicious.\r The beautiful garden adds to the ambiance, and although it was rainy the time we were at the Inn, the landscaping was lovely to look at. We liked the Taylor Inn so much, we are visiting again. more

Simply stunning, beautiful house. Rooms are large and very comfortable. Dave and Daryl are fantastic hosts. Great kitchen and breakfast. Very close (2 minutes walk) to Jamaica pond, and also close (4 minutes walk) to Centre Street of Jamaica Plain with loads of cool restaurants and shops. You cannot go wrong with Taylor House! Highly recommended! more

We have stayed here many times while visiting our family in Boston. Terrific hosts, lovely classic buildings, excellent breakfasts and the walk around Jamaica Pond, just down the block, is delightful. Of course, it's Boston so there are many nearby good restaurants. more

David picked us up at the T station and gave us a ride to his B&B - very nice! The location in Jamaica Plain is great - just a few blocks from restaurants and shops. It's a short walk to the bus stop - it was easy to take the bus up to Newbury Street, Fenway, the Old State House and other historical sites in Boston. The area is very charming, and Jamaica pond is literally right up the street. Our bedroom was on the 2nd floor of the main house, and was comfortable and spacious. We were very happy with it, and loved the clawfoot tub. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, serve yourself - not extravagant. I had oatmeal most mornings. Great cozy alternative to a hotel for exploring the city! more

I have been fortunate to stay here many times and have always had a good experience. My daughter and her family live right near by and I am able to enjoy family occasions and stay in a terrific place. I have stayed for one night visits up to nine nights when my first grandchild was born. Dave and Darrell run a terrific place. The breakfasts are delicious, the rooms are clean and very comfortable. more

On a recent family vacation to Boston, we stayed at the Taylor House. It was fantastic! Not only is it a lovely place in a lovely location, the owners were perfect hosts and responsive to the varied needs of their guests. With the location of a beautiful walking trail just steps away, this added to the perfect setting. Would recommend Taylor House to everyone. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/28/2013

Taylor House was perfect for our stay. The kitchen is huge and breakfast is substantial. Our second floor suite was decorated very nicely yet unobtrusively, and most importantly: it had a comfortable bed! It was steps from a mini fridge in the hallway, which I used every day. I was a fan of their many perks (beverages, concert, maps, free parking, etc) and the value to me was high because the center of Jamaica Plain was so close I could walk to it in about 30 seconds. Can't wait to return! more

We live a few blocks from the Taylor house and the 6, yea count em, 6 grandparents have stayed there numerous times since my son was born 3 yrs ago. It's perfect for everyone- they get here own room and don have to squeeze into our tiny tiny 2 bedroom condo and we don't have to play host. Dave is accomodating of their needs - whether they are renting a room or renting the house across the street. Daryl's breakfast is always amazing and home made. We're always bummed when they are booked! more

Having grown up in Jamaica Plain and no longer able to stay where I lived, I chose the Taylor B&B for a return trip to my town. A lot of work has gone into fixing this place and the owners spared nothing to bring this 1800's home back to its former glory. It was clean, located in a nice section of a residential area I was familiar with, breakfast was unusual and tasty, (no plastic bread or instant coffee), bed was comfortable, room was quiet, guests were interesting, small but lovely garden area with a wide variety of carefully chosen plants. They have concerts on occasion. The lighting in the hallway was a little too somber for my taste, but we could see well. It was a delightful two night stay. more

This old mansion has been nicely restored appropriately for its period. Lots of privacy, great breakfasts included, free parking. It is an easy walk to Jamaica Plain commercial area, or Jamaica Pond. There are lots of good restaurants and pubs in Jamaica Plain. more
