Good, though not superior lunch buffet 5/21/2009

Don't get me wrong: I like this place, and have eaten there probably 7-8 times, and will go back. But while the decor and food quality are better than House of India (in Coral Gables), the breadth of selection at the lunch buffet is definitely not. No dosas, samosas, papadums or variety breads; just naan. One chicken, one lamb, one vegetable dish, and dal (lentil). Salad is iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers and hot peppers; only raita for dressing. Only one dessert. While the food quality of H.of I. isn't quite up to the same level, the variety is far greater -- and for heaven's sake, the food there is usually warm! Taste of Bombay charges the same as other Indian restaurants for their buffet; I think they can afford to keep their food warm, if not hot. I suspect there is nothing more than a buffet candle, if that. It's also a potential hazard for food (especially proteins) to be kept for hours at too moderate a temperature. If they can't put in a proper buffet hot water heating system, then at least some Sterno! No complaints about the service. They're friendly and attentive. The management is too. Just -- add more variety, and warm up the food, please! (I haven't been there for an evening meal; just the buffet.) I have yet to try the new Indian Palate in the Gables. So far, the finest Indian lunch buffet I've had in South Florida is Madras Cafe in Pompano, but that's awfully far to go just for lunch. Pros: Fine flavoring, good quality Cons: buffet has limited selection; food is barely warm! more

BEST Indian food restaurant in Down Town Miami 2/19/2009

First time i ever experienced Indian food and i loved it, after reading a few reviews of Indian restaurants in the Downtown area, Taste of Bombay had the best rating and so very right the food was exellent, wonderful service, outside the restaurant does not look like much, but inside its very nicely decorated, beautiful pictures on the walls, nicely decorated tables, good choice to take your date out to dinner, then head out to Blue Martini a few blocks down :) Pros: wonderful food, service, and ambiance Cons: not so easy to locate more
