Best

cute little cafe to grab some great food with friends. They also have a great little outdoor patio for seating. The food and drinks are great!

Worst

Had a breakfast meeting there and although pleasant, took forever! There were four of us and our waitress couldn't be bothered nor apologetic for the poor service. Wouldn't meet...

Great customer service, Best waitress in the city 5/28/2007

I go to this restaurant at least 3 -4 times a month and it is due to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I enjoy eating dinner at a place that is comfortable, and where the service is friendly and warm. Laney is usually the person who waits on us...she is always friendly and makes us feel at home. The food is good, but it is not what keeps us coming back. Also, whoever said that the bartender is mean was definitely in line too long for the Price Is Right because she is super nice. She has never been rude to us. This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Los Angeles. Pros: Great staff, Great atmosphere more

Great food, great waitress, avoid the bar 5/15/2007

My parents were visiting from Atlanta last week and i decided to take them to Tart. The atmosphere was so cute. The cabanas outside were so cozy (even though our heater didn't work). The portions were huge, and the food was delicious. The only downside was the bartender. My fiance thought it was hard to believe she works for tips. She had a snotty attitude and bad mouthed the management to us. It was very awkward. Luckily we were only at the bar for 1 drink. After my parents got there, we went to our table outside and the service was great. Our waitress made good suggestions and was very sweet. My mom had the pan roasted chicken. I didn't try it, but she loved it. I had a salmon salad...that was amazing. I suggest ordering a side of Mac n Cheese for the table. They bring out the cutest little cornbread appetizer too. Bottom line: Great food, great waitress, just don't hang at the bar while you're waiting for your party to show up Pros: great food, great waitress Cons: bartender more

i dunno what yall complainin about 4/16/2007

i figure most people who have a decent experience just walk away full & happy. those who don't, go runnin to their computers to bch about it. so here's what happened (three of us, one came late) plate of calamari: not bad, nothing special two bottles of their $40 wine went away like no tomorrow steak sandwich w shoestring fries--really good but i didn't finish it--was supposed to be med but came out rare i still ate it cuz i'm a pig big ol chixen salad--looked like somethin from cheesecake factory or red robin. she didn't finish it some pasta dish--she didn't finish; i didn't taste it. was there bread? i don't remember. service weren't bad. you can go out to the patio & smoke if you like we were the noisiest ones there go figger. other than us it was quiet lots o reverb in that place. could've been romantic for the other folks i suppose. i hope we didnt wreck it for them. kinda like that cliffs edge place on sunset: you like the place, you feel good being there but when you think about each dish separately, no big deal & you feel just a little ripped off. this is a good place to chill & eat. more

Best Food in Fairfax Village 3/27/2007

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. I live right around the corner so me and my husband frequent this restaurant. They even make room for us to bring our infant in a stroller in. The "tinis" are amazing and the food is very comfortable. Indoor and outdoor seating. Super nice staff. Pros: comfort food, nice ambience, great cocktails, WINE NIGHT Cons: NOTHING more

It's okay. 3/27/2007

Decent menu, decent service, decent prices. The food is nothing spectacular - very much just okay. The menu choices are fine, but the quality of the food is just...well...I'll say it again - okay. Small portions, too. Oh well. Pros: Cute place, good vibe Cons: Food isn't great more

Disappointing 1/6/2007

There is lots of potential for Tart to be a Happening Spot! It has such a cool facade, it intrigued me and my friends. My dinner experience was very disappointing. The menu items were not delivered as described. I ordered the shrimp and pasta dish with portabello mushrooms and asparagus with chopped tomatoes, but there weren't any portabello mushrooms or asparagus anywhere on the plate. My friend ordered hash browns and got home fries, do they know the difference? I would love to see this business do great, but this is an important part, deliver what you promise! Pros: Cute Idea, friendly waitstaff Cons: Food served was different then described in menu more

Nothing fabulous 11/1/2006

Went on a Sunday for lunch and it was pretty empty. Their menu was pretty basic and I didn't see anything I haven't seen else where. Asked for their fried green tomatoes but for some reason they only made them for dinner. Decor was different than typical LA restaurants so that was a nice change. more

Friendly service, good food, funky and fun atmosphere 10/24/2006

Our group recently stayed at The Farmer's Daughter Hotel and were delighted by several things - the funky, fun nature of the rooms and the hotel grounds; the friendliness of the staff; the good food and service at the hotel restaurant Tart. We asked for same-day seating for 20 people and the smiling staff said "no problem." Then we did the same the following weekend, again with no problem getting the last-minute reservation, and again with the same friendly service. Our group enjoyed prompt, attentive service and a delightful variety in the menu. Great dish: Spinach ravioli. more

If you haven't been lately, you haven't been. The Tart has (finally) shaped up!!! 10/15/2006

I visited TART a few times when it was still very new, and each experience was drastically different than the last - different menu, different staff, but I think they've finally sorted out the identity crisis. The past three times I've been with my co-workers we've been helped by the same very sweet waitress (ask for Laney), and -gasp- the menu has had the same offereings!!! It seems that TART has adopted a shape up or ship out attitude and finally tightened the reins on the kitchen. Our food came out in a timely manner, was presented beautifully, and tasted great! The prices have been toned down, and they offer beautiful martinis made with fresh fruit. They bring out complimentary cornbread in adorable cast iron pans, but we still get the Upside-Down Nachos to start every time. The Angel Hair with Ahi is to die for, and my friend loves the ribs. Trust me. It's taken some time, but I think TART has proven to be well worth the wait!! Pros: Beautiful atmosphere - sweet, funny waitress Cons: valet parking more

quaint and comfortable 10/11/2006

my friend and i came out for the dinner here the other night. The waiters were very attentive and cooperative. I had the chicken and my friend had the steak. He ordered medium rare but he felt it was more well done, but he enjoyed it. All in all a good experience Pros: cozy, intimate, location Cons: parking, but there's always valet more

A perfect place to have a meeting 10/9/2006

The tables were comfortable and they had a full bar. The waiters and waitresses were very receptive and attentive. The service was good, the food was really good. I had a fun time and would definitely eat there again. They served very fresh salads before the meal and I liked that. The menu was put together for us and all food was complimentary so I cannot comment on the pricing. My salmon was very good, cooked to perfection. They served cookies and coffee for dessert. Portions were good and the food was not buried in too much spice or sauce. Pros: Very good fresh food Cons: Hard to find parking on the street - have to use valet more

Horrible Horrible Horrible 9/14/2006

So the office decided to take lunch together on Friday like always. We stopped into Tart one day and thought it might be a nice place, so we went. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! The food was so so but WAY OVER PRICED!!! The service was HORRIBLE!!! Not only did we wait 20 mins for our order to be taken, we waiting another 30 mins for our food to be served and then ANOTHER 30 mins to get our check and ANOTHER 20 Mins for her to run our credit cards. When we finally got our check the water she so gladly brought out ended up being $8 per bottle!!!! She did not inform of us this at all...and we got 6 bottles. This place is aweful...I do not recommend it at all. It will be closed soon. Pros: Great Atmosphere Cons: Horrible Service, High Prices more

change the name from tart to sloppy 7/7/2006

I went to tart last night for dinner. The presentation of the food is so sloppy and not to the level.the waitresses at tart must have worked at denny's for that bad attitude.I think with that attitude tart will be gone like a wind soon. The food is mediocre and the prices are way out of line.I had the cowboy steak and charging $45 for a steak with no sides is a big rip off.I would never go back to sloppy tart again. Pros: none Cons: sloppy presentation of food, bad service, way too expensive more

denny's is better than tart 7/6/2006

i went to tart with some friends recently.after being seated we waited for fifteen minutes to be acknowledged that we were there.finally they took our drinks order which took another seven to ten minutes to arrive.at this speed denny's is better than them and can bring the food faster to your table .I dont mind spending money on quality of food and service but on bad service and mediocre food it is not acceptable to me.We had the worst service, food in our lives and plan never to go back here.denny's is faster than tart by far and the food might not be gourmet but comes fast as well. Pros: none Cons: so many i cannot even count more

Truly Delightful! 7/5/2006

Tart deserves a 20-point rating scale on a 1-10. They focus on the quality of the food AND service. Their décor is adorable, service is exceptional and the ambiance is great for any sophisticated occation. Love it!!! Pros: Delicious, fun, and overall a great experience. Cons: None more

Seriously good! 7/5/2006

Seriously good food... what a great place to pick up a healthy, hearty, delicious, and inexpensive meal. What a fantastic dinner for a family, friends or a date. Their open for breakfast, lunch and, my favorite, dinner. I really love this place. i drive several miles out of my way each week to eat there as much as i can. Try everything and anything... it's all so worthwhile! But be sure to try their cowboy steak too, the dish is amazing! more

The Price IS right! 7/5/2006

I recently went to a taping of the Price is Right. I have been a huge fan since my mom used to watch it when I was young. So we stopped in and ate at Tart while we were in the area. I am so glad we did. The food was outstanding. It is such a nice atmosphere and a friendly place to eat. It made the whole experience even better! more

Best food ever!!! 7/5/2006

Finally, a place in LA that is "among the very finest restaurants". The quality and consistency of what appeared on the plates was spectaculor. A restaurant that serves all 3 courses with so much more talent and creativity! more

Cool Place 7/5/2006

I just had a great experience at Tart that I just wanted to share. I took my girlfriend and her mom for breakfast. First thing is that it is valet parking. But at only 5 bucks it is worth avoiding the hassle of finding a spot on Fairfax. We walked in through the hotel lobby and through big sliding doors into the courtyard area where there is seating. A hostess greeted us and directed us to a table. The menu has a great selection and we all were happy with our choices. The waiter was very accomodating and kept checking with us throughout our meal. We had a great time and spent less than $30 for all three of us. more
