Wow. I was really displeased with the customer service for Tanner Transmission. When I called to check on pricing for rebuilt transmission it felt like I was was treated as four year old in who had busted moms china dish. Not only was I disrespected as I tried to explain what I needed, but I felt pressured into taking the car into them that very night. At the end of the conversation I said that I would like to check around to different places for a price match, by doing so It must have made the man whom I was being talked at by very upset. He angrily said ""Well anywhere else you go will never fix your transmission like I can, WE are the best in the state"" He then ended the conversation by hanging up before I could respond. Like I said, Wow. That was one of the worst calls I have ever made. Because of that call, I will never go to Tanner Transmission for anything!!!!! I suggest you don't either. more

Well I just stopped in to get my annual free power flush up here in Ogden. I had my transmission made by Tanner in my truck now for more then 8 years, and it still runs like a top. I don’t treat it real rough mostly commuting back and forth to work and boat tow to Lake Mead to and from Ogden two or three times a year. The reason for the review is that I called Tanner to set up an appointment to have my power flush done and when I arrived I mean they were slammed but they put me in as I had an appointment and I was out in less then 45 minutes. I Had A Very Good Experience at Tanner Transmissions. I was in a position of needing a transmission in my 2002 Mazda MPV rebuilt. After going to the dealers Dillon, Freeway and Bountiful Mazda, them wanting more than $5,000 for a transmission. It was more than I could afford and so I started calling various transmission companies and shops. I chose Tanner because after my inquiry of cost, etc. I was so totally calm because Blaine (the Owner who was in covering for his manager that week who was deer hunting) was very complete in his description of what needed to be done, what he could do for me and a cost that was less than half of what the dealers had quoted me. He explained everything in simple terms that I could understand Tanner Transmissions was very quick in arranging for my car to be towed from the dealer their shop. I usually never provide recommendations or reviews. However, for Tanner Transmissions I will make sure to go out of my way to recommend their services to anyone needing a mechanic. I had a crazy issue with my transmission and ABS system that would intermittently engage when braking normally. This was a huge problem and no one could diagnose the root cause. I was actually told by another mechanic that I was lying the ABS system was fine. Jim had my vehicle one day, invested the time to test drive my car till the problem happened again. They he identified and replaced a faulty brake sensor within a few hours and had the car back to me with no issues. Tanner Transmissions are professional, reliable mechanics you can trust. more

The Service Offered By Tanner Transmissions is absolutely fantastic. Tanner Transmissions had my vehicle towed to their Ogden repair shop no charge after an initial consultation by another transmission shop - I wanted another opinion as I felt my mechanic had not explored all options short of requiring a new transmission. Jed the manager was extremely courteous and professional over the phone and gave me the worst-case scenario how long it would take and just how much it would cost. After speaking with Jed and going out with me on a test drive he explained what he thought might be the problem and that he would need to look at the transmission in greater detail. I was told that he would have to keep my car and that he would call me the next day. Within a day, Jed had discovered the problem was not the clutch plate and transmission but a much less expensive fluid issue. Jed went the extra mile and had my vehicle towed to my location with the offer of dropping off the keys at my work place. All of my calls were answered and I found him to be incredibly personable and fair and Jed said he wished for me to drop by in 2 weeks for a checkup to ensure everything is running smoothly. Who Knew That Buying A Transmission Could be Okay. I say Okay because let face it a major car repair bill is just not that fun. I own a 2004 Tahoe it started to have a shifting problem and I took it to my regular guy to have him check it out. He confirmed my fears and the transmission had some sort of problem. Just when I had thought I was going to have to junk my car and start from scratch, Tanner came through with an amazing price and great work. I've got an old Chevy 1992 195,000 miles on it and finally the transmission went out. Went to Tanners got a brand new one for $2,300.00 with the ownership warranty. I'm keep'in the old gal and will have it for another 200,000 miles. It only took them three days t get it done I had it now for about two months and it's going strong. more

Tanner Transmissions Saved Memorial Day For My Family & Me. My family owns a 2000 Safari Continental. The transmission went bad just before we were headed out of Salt Lake City. We got a hold of Tanner transmissions downtown on State Street. Told them our situation and they got the Safari in right away. Just when I had thought I was going to have to junk my old Cadillac and start from scratch, Tanner Transmissions in Ogden's came through with an amazing price and warranty. The location might not be the most convenient, but it's more than worth it for the peace of mind and a successful job well done. Jim at Tanner Transmissions asked me to do a review. I bought a 2001 Ford F150 4X4 transmission from Tanner 4 years ago with the 3 year Warranty they Power flush it each year for me. Run's good and I expect to keep my truck for a long time so will find out how long transmission will last. So far so good. The long and short of is this, They told me my 2003 Benz need a new transmission, but after they took it apart they fond that not all of it had to be replaced. It end up costing me half what they said it would. How's that, I was already sold on a more expence transmission and thet end up charing me less. Took my car in April of 2009 for a $150 flush. They convinced me I needed a $2500 transmission and this would prevent any future problems. I trusted they knew what they were doing. BIG MISTAKE!!! My transmission went out again less than 14 mo. later. I was told by a manager that parts go bad all the time. I should have spend $800 more on a warranty, in which, one of their employees advised me against and told me I had a good trans and it was unlikely to have anymore problems. Tanner has had our vehicle for over 5 months with no end in sight. They claimed that they would do a better job than the dealer and at a cheaper price. They claimed that the job would take, at the longest, 2 weeks. We just passed 20 weeks, so I don't exactly know whether they've done a better job, but with that much time, you would think so. As far as cost, I've paid out much more than at the dealer, becuase I've had to pay for a rental car. Which Tanner has not even bothered to help with and has denied us help with for 5 MONTHS. I've seen other reviews that claim to have had a good experience with Tanner. Good for them. If you go, you will be sorry! Do yourself a favor and use someone else or your dealer. My transmission was acting up so I took to Tanner they told me that they could fix my old transmission or sell me a rebuilt one for $1,400.00 installed. Battery was stolen and vehicle was damaged in their lot. Service manager refused to repair damage/replace battery. Vehicle was misdiagnosed...what they said was a bad transmission was just a pinched fuel line. 2400 dollars later their mechanics took it to tunex and had a 60 dollar fuel pump installed. Do yourself a favor and run a google search for tanner transmission/check the b3tt3r business bureau complaints before considering using this business!!! Cons: Too many to list more
