Good Food but Poor Service 4/12/2006

Playa Del Rey boasts of this one Indian Restaurant where the food is slightly more than average but the service is way below average. Had been here for dinner once and it took forever to get the food. They bought the Naan first and took literally more than 30 minutes to get the side dish by which time the naan had become totally cold. we asked them they said it will be there in 5 minutes but the 5 minutes never came. I've been to several Indian restaurants and as far as service is concerned this was one of my worst experiences. If you are really hungry you better avoid this place. more

This Place Deserves a Better Review! 2/2/2006

I had to add to an earlier review. I agree that the decor is something to be desired, but that seems to be the norm with Indian restaurants. I think the food here is excellent and goes on the top of my list for Indian food in Los Angeles. A must try if you're nearby. more

Indian food 1/12/2006

strangely they didnt have channa masala on the menu.. they had all the other masalas (chicken, lamb, etc.).. i just wanted my chick peas. nonetheless i got the next best thing, shrimp masala. it was incredibly tasty.. as was the garlic naan.. and my friend Keren got the lamb vindaloo (i love that word). i'm not big on lamb but the sauce was really yummy. masala seems to be a creamier version of vindaloo, but vindaloo has potato and masala doesn't. (that's my elementary understanding so far of indian food, i'm still learning). I've had spinach saag in the past and did NOT like it. heh. keren got the GULAB ZAMUN .. which is sooooooo yummy, but it's like.. two donuts in honey... basically a nightmare to my kidneys or pancreas.. whereever my insulin is produced. heh. more

Good indian restaurant in Playa del Rey 8/11/2005

Only one Indian restaurant in Playa del Rey, this is it. It's located on Pershing and has an all you can eat buffet for lunch reasonably priced around $6 with drinks can run $8. Food is good, not too spicy but flavorful. Parking is plenty with their own parking lot attached. Place looks kinda gaudy with their flourescent paint, but food is what counts and it is good. more
