Best

This place is great for dining in with family, hanging out in the bar on a date, or ordering to go. They have happy hour twice a day with a nice selection of food and drinks, but ...

Worst

Possibly because I went on a rainy day, but the food is mediocre, and the drink specials at happy hour...

The $10 bean & rice burrito 4/1/2009

About 1:30 at their Lynnwood location, it was after the lunch crowd and the place was mostly empty. A super prawn burrito reads to have rice, beans, cheese, prawns, sour cream and guacamole. Costs just under $10. After a third down with nothing ocean related appearing, I unrolled mine to find... beans, rice and cheese. Beans, rice and cheese. I complained, they made another one. Unrolling it I found beans, rice, cheese, and prawns sautéed with onions... This is a "prawn burrito", it lacks the sour cream and guacamole of the "super prawn burrito" I ordered. The quality and flavor was good, and I had been there with a friend 2 weeks earlier with no complaint. It may be a couple months before I return. more

I'm over it. 5/19/2006

I started going to the Green Lake location with my roommate as our Friday Mexican Ritual. It started out great but the last couple times we went the service wasn't that great and the food wasn't either. We kept choosing them because of the strong margaritas. Now we haven't been there since last summer. I guess it's just kind of touch and go. more

Fresh & Fast 3/31/2006

Tacos Guaymas in Fremont is a great place to grab lunch on a sunny day. I enjoyed a Fish burrito (super-which includes both sour cream and guacamole) and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the fish was not fried and was very fresh. The portions at Tacos Guaymas are huge as well (two could easily share a burrito, especially with a few chips and salsa). The bonus is that there is outdoor seating so on a sunny day such as today, Tacos Guaymas is a great destination for mexican. more

Fun summertime patio across from Greenlake 10/27/2005

This place is fun to come during the summer months and grab a good meal and margarita on the patio. It's right across the street from Greenlake, so if you are motivated, you can be healthy and take a nice walk afterward. Tacos Guayamas has many restaurants in the Seattle area, but I think this one and the Fremont ones seem to be the best overall. more

Cheap and Authentic 8/19/2005

Tired of gloppy refried bean and soggy tortillas at the Mexican chain restaurants? Tacos Guaymas is the real deal, with whole beans, fresh tortillas, a variety of tasty salsas and even good margaritas. You can get a burrito that will keep you full for nearly 24 hours for about $5 and have it filled with your choice of steak, chicken or a variety of less savory meats. For cripes sake, they even have tripe and tongue here, how much more authentic do you want to get? more

great margaritas 8/19/2005

This location (in Green Lake) has really good margaritas: the real cocktail kind, not the frothy kind in a glass with a cactus on it. The tacos are great too, with fresh ingredients and lots of choices, like carne asada or shrimp. I have also had the burritos, which are also very good, at the location in Federal Way (which does not have a bar). more

Best Margaritas in seattle, great tequila selection too! 8/17/2005

The food is definitely excellent for the value, quickness, and what you would expect from a taqueira. I would agree with the posts here - definitely fantastic big burritos, but don't miss other items you might not expect like a fantastic mole sauce and fresh spinach salads. But why should you really go here? Best Margaritas I've found in town (and I have found my way to the bottom of quite a few). The secret is the mix - fresh juices and lime and orange wedges, not syrupy green stuff that is an unnatural color. Also recommended are mojitos here. Finally, an impressive selection of local microbrews on tap in addition to plenty of mexican beers. Staff is friendly and hardworking. more

Great food, although somewhat inconsistent 8/4/2005

I love the food here. The portions are huge and of great quality. The restaurants are always clean and the staff friendly. The wet chicken burrito is to die for!!!! My one minor complaint is that the flavor is somewhat inconsistent, depending on who is working in the kitchen on the day - some days there is a lot of meat, some days there is a lot of sour cream, etc. This inconsistency is the only thing preventing this place from receiving a 5-star rating! more

Best "fast" Mexican food in town! 7/7/2005

When I first moved here I searched high and low for the perfect tin-foil burrito...and, look no further because here it is, with yummy salsa to boot! I have really only had their vegetarian black bean burrito..but it is great and very inexpensive. Just the right amount of flavoring, to satisfy your Mexican food urge. I've been to the Capitol Hill, W. Seattle, and Fremont locations, and all are great- though the Fremont one has the most ambiance, in my opinion. more

best mexican food to go 6/26/2005

for quick mexican food and i mean authentic tacos or burritos i love the sketchy taco trucks flashing their silver siding in parking lots but when i can't find one i go to tacos guaymas. their food is excellent, fairly authentic, quick and tasty. additionally they have a great variety of drinks like tamarind tea and hibiscus juice. they have several locations including green lake and capitol hill. more

As authentic as you are going to get in Seattle. 6/9/2005

I lived nearby a TG for a couple of years before ever trying it out. After eating there I couldnt believe what I had been missing! I LOVE Mexican food. Mexican Restarurants are a dime a dozen but rarely do you find a gem like this. I highly recommend this place. My family eats here at least once a week! I am hooked for life on their Chicken Mole! As for your kids they do have a small kids meal selection. more

Beats Baja Fresh! 9/10/2004

This taco join serves up wet burritos (those of us who have lived in California prefer them dry) but I'll forgive them. They have great horchata and agua fresca (drinks), an assortment of yummy tacos and entrees and a salsa bar with endless supplies that make all things tasty. Andale! more

Excellent Tex-Mex lunch 9/4/2004

Tacos Guaymas is a local chain specializing in fresh-made Tex-Mex cooking. In addition to the usual crop of wet & dry burritos, they have a suprisingly large selection of full-plate meals, plus some well-executed appetizer favorites. My personal pick is the shrimp quesadilla, a huge flour tortilla, folded in half and stuffed with grilled peppers and onions, jack cheese and crunchy grilled prawns. The quesadilla's a full meal in itself - if you don't want a sleepy afternoon I'd suggest splitting it with a friend. The decor is clean but pretty basic - Saltillo tile on the floor, sturdy laminate tables, and heavy steel cafeteria chairs. Service is similarly basic - cafeteria ordering with food delivered to your table. As an added bonus, the Guaymas location I visit most often - on Leary Way between Ballard and Fremont (also known as "Freelard") - has a great outside seating area. If it's a sunny day and you're in the area, it's a great place for a leisurely lunch in the sunshine. more
