I drove from Memphis, TN to enjoy a concert at the Tabernacle and I'm glad I did. This place is off the chain! The staff was really nice and the concert was the best. I had so much fun and a little too much to drink! I can't wait until the next time they have something else so I can come back to visit. Pros: The staff is very friendly. Amazing Downtown Venue 2/24/2010

Formerly the Baptist Tabernacle of Atlanta, this old-school, urban gothic church held revivals of a different ilk. The massive pipes of the organ still remain, as do the two balconies, though the pulpit is now a stage hosting a diverse lineup of national touring acts. Kitchy paintings, old fixtures and tile, and the massive chandelier provide the perfect scene for bands to come out and wail. When a band really gets rockin, you can feel the room shake and the balcony dip as people jump around. The balconies are seated and the floor level is standing only with bars flanking. The only downside is the staff (ushers, security, bartenders) who are consistently rude. Your best bet is to cruise around for parking, though most lots will cost the same. The Revival 3/11/2007

This is THE best place to see a show in Atlanta. The concerts here are just miraculous. They sound better than those held at the Georgia Dome, in my opinion. more

Perfect Venue 5/8/2006

i drove down from nashville to see the band HIM. we don't have a venue to compare to tabernacle - and they call nashville "music city". that's a laugh! i loved tabernacle - the sound was awesome and there isn't a bad seat (or standing room) in the house. they have it all. an added plus was that the staff was actually very courteous and i'm all about manners and good service. all in all, a well run place. definitely worth the drive... oh yeah, and the band was AWESOME! more

I've been to some great concert here,( Incubus, Jeff Beck, Foo Fighters, ect.). The building itself is what adds to an overall good time. Pros: Live music, Bars are'nt crowded, Inexpensive Cons: parking more

my first time was a private party at the tabernacle near halloween '02. the place is great!! gotta buzz and got lost...rooms and bars everywhere, a soul-funk band kickin' ass, the bartenders were into the scene. great atmosphere, but could be dangerous with all the stairs. want to go back somtime and see moe, panic, or mule...the place just feels fun! fun "is" the key word isn't it? stay near a marta station and ride in...no parking...short walk. Tabernacle is a great place to see bands because the sound is good downstairs & you can get up close to the stage. Bars are inside the staging area so you don't have to leave. There are also spots to hang out & chill. There are bathrooms downstairs & upstairs. Pros: Close to stage, Bars near stage, Good bands Cons: Price for parking, Smoking inside venue, Lack downs seats more

What's hot and what's not.... 10/9/2002

The Tabernacle is hot!!! It is a great venue, maybe a little small when it comes to a big croud, but the scenery definetly makes up for it! And the drinks....well, let's just say they are well worth their money!! This is definetly an awesome place to go, and I look forward to seeing many more greats concerts here! :) Pros: Awesome atmosphere Cons: Small, gets crowded more

What's up with the Tabernacle??? 7/8/2002

I am very disappointed with the Tabernacle. I bought tickets for PINK last month. The concert was cancelled, no warning and no information on when she would be rescheduled for. The only thing people were told was that they had to check listen to the radio to find out when she would return. The concert was rescheduled for the 11th of July... now the excuse is that they have had flooding and will be closed for two weeks; You had to find this out in the newspaper, to top it off, they dont know if they can find another venue for her to play. When you call, they wont answer the phone and if they do by mistake, they dont have any information. They won't even refund you money!!! What's up with that? As Clark Howard would put it the Tabernacle thrives in customer NO service. Give us a clue!!! Cons: Customer Service, Customer Service, Customer Service more

Parking Tip 5/14/2002

Like most Atlantans, I adore this place. I do have a parking tip, though. Went to see Belle & Sebastian the other night and thought I was being smart by parking in a $4 deck. Problem is, everyone else had that idea, and it took almost an hour to get out of there. My suggestion: if you dont know any secret downtown spots, go ahead and pay the money to park in a lot.   • The Scene
    Christened as a music venue for the 1996 Olympics, the Tabernacle soon became Atlanta's favorite place to hear national acts raise their voices. The renovated church holds to no single doctrine, hosting congregations of rockers, rappers and ravers. Its towering 100-foot ceiling accommodates a sloping general-admission floor and two wrapping balconies, offering multiple vantage points and varying acoustics. But what's on stage is only half the show. Every inch of the building shows off whimsical homespun trims, while the performance area's crystal chandelier and grand pipe organ centerpieces are awe-inspiring.

    The Draw
    It's the listeners who truly benefit, as they experience an intimacy lost in most venues, often standing 10 feet from their idols. Sold-out performers include Prince, the Smashing Pumpkins and Tool. Acts whose faithful have outgrown smaller venues are standard performers, as are arena gods seeking to reconnect with fans.
