Take your business somewhere else! 8/8/2005

I recently decided to throw my boss a birthday cocktail hour at TGIF's. The hostess there was very attentive. She walked us over to the bar area and we were so impressed with her attitude, that of course we expected great things to follow. Unfortunately that's not what happened. The bartenders were probably the SLOWEST, and RUDEST bartenders I've ever met. We were never acknowledged even though we had about 3 tables there and once we managed to get their attention the service was unbelievably bad. After asking several times we managed to get a waitress out to us which made things better until she brought out the wrong plate of appetizers for another table and then turned around and tried to sell it to us! Needless to say I was embarrassed because I had planned the outing. I'm sure that will be the last company event held there! more

It's WHO you know that counts here! 1/28/2005

Under the watchful eyes of the security guard, my party (of three) waited patiently in line for the TGIF's hostess to call our name. Other patrons start arriving and likewise stood in line behind us. However, instead of the TGIFs hostess calling the names on the list and allowing those who were already in line to be called first as is customary, she instead opted to pick and choose patrons at will. My party ended up leaving TGIF after waiting in line for over 30 minutes. Anyway, the quality and value of the food and particular the service at TGIF (located on LaTijera & Centinela) is NOT worth the wait or trouble. Cons: Long wait for seating, long wait for service, Longer wait for food more

Really bad 1/3/2005

The only things we avoid more than patronizing your typical chain restaurant is eating lint or associating with Republicans. However, after eating here with a few picky, out of town guests, eating lint doesn't seem all that bad. Our recent experience here was just horrific, from the interminable wait (on a Wednesday night!), to the attitude-ridden service, to the downright bad food. The oversized cocktails looked nice, but were mostly ice and very weak, not to mention expensive. The food also disappointed. Rich's hamburger's bun was stale, and the cold, almost-raw fries didn't help. Chris' entree included icky-looking fried shrimp and a chicken breast compeletly bereft of flavor. Our dinner companions didn't complain much, but they were probably just being polite. We definitely do not recommend this place, and wonder why they seem to be perpetually busy. Cons: , service, prices more

EXCELLENT FAMILY & SPORTS PATRONS 9/13/2004

THIS PLACE IS EXCELLENT FOR FAMILY DINING. THE BAR IS SEPARATE AND DURING EVENINGS SECURITY CHECK FOR ID'S. THE PATIO FOR SMOKING GIVES VIEW OF PARKING AND THE ADJACENT STARBUCKS. THE DRINKS ARE LARGE FRUITY AND TASTY. LOTS OF TELEVISIONS WITH ALL SORTS OF SPORTS WITH A LITE MUSIC BACKGROUND. EMPLOYEES ARE VERY PERSONAL AND GLADLY GO ALL OUT TO SATISFY PATRONS WHEN ASKED. PRICES ARE AVERAGE FOR THE AMBIENCE PROVIDED. EASY ACCESS TO THE FREEWAY Pros: FRIENDLY, ALL AGE GROUPS, LOCATION/SECURITY Cons: , CROWDED, AVERAGE SIZE more

TGI Friday's ... I don't think so 7/22/2003

The service is always bad, the drinks are watered down, and the food is not that good. People go to hang out and pick up people. It should stay open past midnight. For Magic Johnson to be affiliated with such an establishment, he needs to do a MUCH better job than that. The service is HORRIFIC!!!! Pros: croweded, African Americans Cons: bad service, ghetto more

check it out 5/19/2003

This is not the place to go and get something quick to eat expect a wait and a crowd but the people are fun and the food is the business believe that!!! more

TGIF!! 1/17/2003

I love Friday's, and this one is no exception! At the heart of inner city, it's a great place for youngins to go and have an after work beer. I had a wonderful time. more

Wretched Service 1/17/2003

I'm sad to see that Magic Johnson's name is associated with such a place. I'd heard that the service was bad, long waits, to be seated, to order, for your food, for a drink, etc. It's not that it's that crowded, it's just that the service is that bad! I've given it a try, more than once, even three times, and still no change or variance. Please remove this place from your top spots list. more

Don't Bother 11/28/2002

I'm a big supporter of Magic and what he's trying to do in L.A., but this place sucks. Service is horrific, nasty wait staff. Food is ridiculously high, even for good food, but the problem is that it's expensive food and it sucks too. It looks cool inside, but that's the end of good things to say about it. more

waste 11/15/2002

The atomosphere is nice, however, the class of people that attend this venue isn't as upscale as they would like to think. I've observed numerous alcoholics under the age of 24 (I wouldn't feel safe if I dined in a group of 6 or more, the crowd is very loud and rowdy), and the customer service needs a make over. Also, the quality of the food is mediocore in comparison to magic's atlanta location and the TGI fridays spread across Southern California. A new chef, better service, and a 2 drink maximum would deter the low scale crowd and provide a sophisticated after-work venue for the gentleman/woman with a little more class... more

Can You Say G-H-E-T-T-O 11/15/2002

Well if you have ever been to this establishment, I know you can. Why does everybody dress up like it's oscar night ... Why is it the hang out for all of the UPPER CLASS BROKE FOLKS of LA.. I'm sorry you should not have to go get a new outfit to have a drink, and some ribs... Dang... And you shouldn't have to go to National Rent a Car's Emerald Aisle either.. Cons: Parking Sucks, Crowded, Ghetto more

Bye bye Little J's and Hello MJ's TIGF!! 10/4/2002

Great place to have a an after-work cocktail and a good meal. Pros: great sports bar, party atmosphere, friendly service Cons: Parking lot congested, teenie boppers!!!, TEENIE BOPPERS!!!!! more

G H E T T O 8/15/2002

Its great to have a place inner city, where you don't have to pay for parking, and for many who frequent Fridays, its close to home. If you're into watered down drinks, (hint: the better your tip, the better your drink, the next go round - keep with the same bartendar). The joint has all the makings of a club, celebrity wanna be, been seen, skantly clad women, ballers in training (still a long ways to go), if you're cute, you don't wait long, if you're not so cute, overweight, or average be prepared to wait in a line. Overall young people (21-28) will luv the joint. If you're upwardly mobile, don't waste your time. Pros: parking, pretty women Cons: good looking guys, NBA playoffs more

Urban glitz, hollyood meets Crenshaw 8/9/2002

Magic's TGI Fridays is becoming the newest hang out for the urban young adult population. You will enjoy a choice between eating at the restaurant and going home or enjoying a ice cold ""fraup"".There is warning though. If you are looking for a romantic evening with your lover, this is the wrong place. However, if you are looking for a place to meet a man in a Benz or a lady dresses a little sexy, thuis is this is the place for you. So bring your paper, pins and cellphones because you will not leave there without finding someone that you won't want to see at a later date! Pros: Meet alot of people, Great for singles, Cool food Cons: Too loud, Weak drinks, Long wait more
