The Very Best & Now Mobile!! 1/19/2012

I've been going to Tom at TR Guitars for about 20-years and TR has always exemplified 5-star work, fair pricing and fast turn around time. TR has since gone mobile and I've had the luxury to check out this most convenient new innovative service- Tom picked up guitar at my work and delivered back 2-3 days later....SWEET....he comes to you - saved me time and money. I own a lot of nice instruments and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Getting work done on my guitars is very personal and I wouldn't allow anyone else to touch my ""babies"". more

TR Guitars is the Best! 8/1/2011

When I first started playing guitars, I had repair issues. I went from one shop to the next, not getting my repairs done to my expectations. Finally, I found ""TR Guitars"". Its been 20 years now and I have been more than satisfied with the quality of work and timely fashion it takes to get the job done. Recently, my children have started playing a ""Squier Guitar Hero"" guitar which had some electronic issues. The only person I found that could fix it is TR. Thanks for making my guitars play great, professionally, through the years! My children are also looking forward to a future with TR Guitars. You're the best! Also, I love the new mobile repair unit! Genius! more

Lawsuit on Messing up my guitar 3/8/2011

Just like the previous post, I highly recommend you stay away from Tom at TR Guitars! Last year in January 2010, I went in to his shop to get an electronic pickup installed on my new hand-made Collings OM3 acoustic guitar that cost $4,432.00. When I gave him the guitar he assured me this would be an easy job. He said that it would take a couple of days but ended up taking several more days. I called him many times and wouldn’t even return my phone calls. He finally finishes the installation several days later then expected. When I went to pick up the guitar, his credit card machine was broken so I had to pay him cash. I’m already annoyed that he didn’t return my calls and now his credit card machine doesn’t work!! That’s the way to run a business!! After I took the guitar home, I notice the endpin hole where he drilled to install the pick-up on my guitar looked too big and loose. I loosened up the endpin and the hole that he drilled was not even round, it was oval! So I took my Collings guitar to McCabe’s Guitar shop in Santa Monica and had a technician look at the hole that Tom drilled and they could not believe it! So I took the guitar back to Tom and he wouldn’t even give me my money back for ruining my guitar. Without going into even more details, I sued him in a small claims court in June 2010 and the judge was in my favor and I won $600 for his negligence. It’s March 2011, over a year later, and he only paid me $88 after I sent a sheriff to collect money through Till-tap. Unless you want to experience something similar, STAY AWAY!!! more

UNPROFESSIONAL 8/13/2010

Just a warning to anyone who would think about going to Tom at TR Guitars. I have never met anyone as unprofessional as Tom. If you need guitar work done go anywhere but there. more

Installed Custom 1969 Strat Pickups 6/25/2009

This is like a holy Mecca for guitarists - part master workshop and part museum. When you first check it out you’ll think WTF?\r \r Tom works out of a small industrial unit in an unremarkable business park near Walnut and Jamboree in Tustin. If you're put off by the lack of glitz or Guitar Center hubbub, then Tr Guitars isn't your kind of place. \r But if you're looking for a master of guitar repair, a fair price, and meticulous service, you've found your diamond in the rough. I was quoted $100 by another shop in Fountain Valley to install new pickups on my Strat Squire. I thought that was a little high. Tom did it for $45, plus the price of a new set of strings. He cleaned the guitar like new and the new pickups sound awesome.\r \r Tom demonstrated how to properly wrap and cut strings so the guitar holds its tuning and man, I rarely ever have to tune the beast unless I'm dropping a string down or up to play something like Coldplay's Yellow.\r \r Check it out!!\r Pros: Highly Skilled and Excellent Results more
