I tried this place because the reviews for Hunan King were less than stellar. The woman who answered the phone was pleasant, and put me on hold to see if I was in their delivery area. Another woman picked up the phone almost immediately and started asking for my order. I began and told her ""D8"" and was about to give the title when she says ""What's that? D8 what's that?"" I said, I'm about to tell you! and gave her the rest of my order. She was very abrupt and didn't care that I sounded very perturbed. She told me how long it would take, but never asked for a card number or anything. The guy came 15 minutes later - either they had no business or the food was on a warmer - and was surprised when I tried to give him my credit card. He ran back to his car to get his phone, I guess to call and see if he could take it! I offered a check but he didn't like the sound of that, either. I ended up having enough cash to give him, and avoid that problem.\r

The beef w/garlic sauce was pretty decent; the scallops and shrimp in the other dish were overcooked, but not 'bad' tasting. It took a good amount of soy sauce to give the dishes, and the soup, flavor. The eggrolls were $1.50 each, and were maybe 4"" long, as big around as my thumb, and too dry.\r

I spent almost $40 (with tip) for subpar service and food. Szechuan Empress is definitely overpriced and simply not worth it, in my opinion!
Pros: Fast delivery
Cons: Abrupt phone service; flavorless/overdone food, cost
